hmm...one's again another meh spoiler thread for all who were bored in viewing their decks and other cards...

Some Lorwyn tidbits:
~Set 1 of 2. Set 2 would be Morningtide. This is bad though since MTG once planned to realase 4 sets in one block but decided to put in 2 mini-blocks with 2 sets in it.
~Release on October 12, 2007. Approx. 3 more months for the Rav Block to breathe in.
~Set's tribal themed. Merfolk and Elves were here.
~Rumors were spreading that sorceries would not see print in Lorwyn. What the, is this Onslaught Block?

And a teaser to start the spoiling mill...(hi-res image)

WHAT THE *!..

It's Terror and Nekrataal in one!!

I kind of like the Evoke ability, almost like the "sacrifice unless G was payed for its casting cost" in Ravnica...

Actually, the card is less efficient than Nekrataal if you look at it the creature type way. It's also worse than Terror as it doesn't have the speed of an instant. On the bright side, it has fear...

But yes, Evoke has some kind of interesting game effects. It's a bit slow though... We'll see other cards.

I'm still not convinced that the card illustration is an elemental. Confused

hmm snake mutant horror eh? it remind me of a Dissension card that has a Snake Elf Druid Creature type in it x_x

well, for those want to take a sneak peek at precons, here it is...

The White one is for Kithkins (introduced in Time Spiral Block). The Blue-White would be Merfolk. The Green-Black would be Elves. The Black-Red would be Boggarts (new creature type I suppose). And the 5-color deck would be an Elemental Deck.

~~,

There are creative illustrations for imaginary creatures and there are illustrations that don't make any sense.

Question

What in the world are Boggarts?
Some kind of new goblins?

On the elemental pre-con... I suppose there would be some fetch lands or pain lands... I don't like the lettering of Lowryn. It feels so... 70's...

Interesting... Wizards said that merfolks will be out of the primary tribes of Magic... And what's with the Boggarts?! Meanwhile, there's the Kithkin with a whole Tribal deck dedicated to them. Of course, the elves are not at a loss. But ultimately, a five-colored elemental tribal deck will be out, hmmm... I'm sort of being driven away by the concept. I hope Lorwyn will have good cards and mechanics. I absolutely did not like the Onslaught wave before. But if the set will remove the coils of the monster that is Control, then Lorwyn's just fine with me.

How come you don't like Onslaught? It's a good block..
although it had many imbaness and stuff..

I just hope Lorwyn has a good story, I didn't like the Time Spiral novel..

Don't count chickens before they hatch. Rumors are rumors, and well, don't expect another legions yet. Though it does seem that way. And we received a lot of "merfolk is back!" hints since TS, even 10th has its share.

I'm interested on how they'll make a Domain precon work. Maybe we're moving to more=better territory again? That would be interesting. I never got to waste monocolor with global ruin before, maybe now?

@quickbrownfox: Exactly. The merfolk have been getting a comeback since TS. Don actually made a deck around those fishy buggers. I hope they get more interesting. Anyway, I hope Lorwyn deviates from Onslaught.

@erwin: Onslaught was a terrible block. Sure, it had its perks. Unfortunately, being tribal meant having to stick with certain tribes that often are associated with a specific color. A lot of the tribes were weak, and so were the colors associated with them. White, Red and of course, Green, had the best tribes (Soldiers, Goblins, and Beasts, respectively). Black had two decent tribes (Clerics and Zombies). In turn, those colors dominated the block. That's just awful. Blue just had no love.

Personally, I like tribes to involve all colors and not stick to a single color. That is why if ever Lorwyn is Tribal block number two, I'm sort of interested with the elementals.

Aside, I can see that with the introduction of the Tribal card type in Future Sight, Lorwyn will definitely deviate from the Onslaught cards. What will happen is that the cards will not depend on creatures anymore to sustain a Tribal theme. For me, that is somewhat good. I sure hope more rebels appear in the block. That would really get me back to playing.

@mnightsilver:
you make a good point.. I now remember why I never had a decent deck in Onslaught, blue was set aside Crying or Very sad
Although i did manage to make a WIZARD deck! Laughing
With Nameless One!! Laughing Laughing

@quickbrownfox:
YES! merfolks are cool too!

I wonder why they decided to put them back in the sets, I thought they "discarded" them because of the "MTG becoming a cool kids show"..

I wanna let you guys take a closer look at this friggin poster...

So the question, who's coming?

The answer, in the poster itself.

She's Liliana Vess, the first ever creature to be printed out with "planeswalker" card type. Note that mtg purposely put that out and really cut the half diagonally in order not to spoil further...all that rumormongers know is, planeswalker arts were "different" in a way. it is different since it had surpassed the usual border of the pic. so other's would thought of it as an Un-card. ~~,

Although 3BB CMC doesn't contribute much to the spoilage, it houses for the confirmation of the new card type. And it will make Tarmogoyfs happy. ~~,

If it's a planeswalker, it must be uber-borken hardc0rez. Otherwise it cannot be a planeswalker.

We've all been wondering about why the Planeswalker type is to be introduced in Lorwyn. I mean, Planeswalkers are godlike and all. We expect them to be broken or something.

Apparently, Wizards have found a way to explain the sudden change. Read this.

Interesting, really. The wonders of marketing strategies. Very Happy

Want a first look on planeswalekrs? Here it is!

Hmm, weird eh, here's some more weird tidbits...(Ctrl-C + Ctrl-V from MTGS)

Creatures can attack a planeswalker, and creatures attacking your planeswalker can be blocked by your creatures.
For each point of combat damage dealt to one, it loses one loyalty.

Additional deductions:
-This is a spell. (It has a casting cost.)
-This is a permanent (It stays in play after being cast.)
-This can be destroyed/targeted with permanent/planeswalker destruction/manipulation cards.
-This can be destroyed when its loyalty dries up. (As it can be 'attacked')
-The numbers on the left refer to the 'loyalty cost' of each ability, but it may be too soon to speculate on the qualifiers of each.

And if you look closer at the text box, you would see that it's like you're holding a textless card with its full art ~~,

I like the art. I still find the loyalty concept quite, um... I sure hope magic doesn't die after Lorwyn.
