Check out this awesome combo:

Splinter + Splintering Wind + Retraced Image

You use Splintering Wind to put a Splinter token into play, then you play Retraced Image revealing Splinter. What happens here?

214.1a The term “permanent card” is used to refer to a card that could be put into play. Specifically,
it means an artifact, creature, enchantment, land, or planeswalker card.

So what happens is that Splinter fizzles, since it cannot be put into play because it is a sorcery. Smile
