Since we are all extremely creative people, i've thought of a way to channel those creative energies into magic. I want to start this thread to encourage people to post CARD or CYCLE ideas. You guys know the format for the spoiler, so let's just write it that way. pls feel free to add your ideas and comments. who knows, maybe rosewater will look here and pull one of our ideas and turn it into a card. that being said....
Jackal Hound
1R 3/2
Creature - Hound
Trample, Haste
When JAckal Hound deals combat damage, it deals that much damage to you.
When JAckal HOund is dealt damage, it deals that much damage to you
A big jackal pup
Counter Elemental (yeah i know it sucks)
UU */*
Creature - Elemental
Flying, Flash
Counter Elemental's power and toughness is equal to the number of islands you control.
When you play Counter Elemental, counter it if there are no spells an opponent controls on the stack.
When you play Counter Elemental, any opponent may let you counter a spell he or she controls. If that player does, counter Counter Elemental.
i know it's a brick, but i was thinking of an entire cycle of cards that do the same thing. finally
Philosopher's fancy
UUR
Enchantment
Whenever a player plays a spell, you may flip a coin. If you win, you may copy that spell and choose new targets for it. if you lose, counter that spell, sacrifice Philosopher's fancy, and end the turn.
la lang. i'll post more make-believe cards in the future... _________________ By the Power of Truth, I, while living, have conquered the Universe!

interesting poll choices. . . well, here you go:
[b]Gaylord Mage[\b]
WB
Creature -- Human Wizard
When CARDNAME comes into play, target opponent loses 1 life and you gain 1 life.
Whenever a player plays a spell, remove CARDNAME from the game. Return it to play under it's owners control.
0/3
[b]Redneck Agressor[\b]
RG
Creature -- Orc Warrior
Whenever a player gains life, put a +1/+1 counter on CARDNAME.
Whenever a creature comes into play, it deals 1 damage to all players.
2/2
Well, these cards are polar opposites of one another. Gaylord sucking the life out of your opponents by being, well, gay, and the Redneck punishing him (that didn't come out too well) for it.

i like the gaylord card. its very... gay. the redneck card reminds me of kavu predator. both cards are really really good spike cards. here's one for a former sec gen... ooohhh...
Dark Axis
4BB Instant
If a spell or ability an opponent controls would cause you to reveal your hand or discard a card/s, you may instead reveal Dark Axis. If you do, you may play Dark Axis without paying it's mana cost. It has split second.
Destroy target permanent. It can't be regenerated.

My first Planeswalker card attempt. This is him as of Invasion, leading the circle of nine into the depths of Phyrexia. I don't like it that much yet, though, since he should probably have an artifact related ability.
Lord Protector of the Realm
3UR
Planeswalker-Urza
Loyalty 1
+2: Target Planeswalker gains 1 loyalty.
-2: Tap or untap target artifact, creature, or land
-10: Urza deals 10 damage to target creature or player. The damage can't be prevented.
Suffice it to say that I'll try to make other Urza cards, not to mention Karn (Planeswalker Artifact?) _________________ Nosfecatu Publishing |

Seems a bit underpowered. Shouldn't an Urza card be OMGHAXSTORNG!!! ? Although, considering the number of Urza cards that've been made, it's a good fit. _________________ And I'm still, still longing. Still cold... so cold. |

lol, kinda unique. It's like: +3: do nothing ability
though i don't get it why does he have to deal damage. It's more like his inventions, but not Urza. _________________ There is happiness for those who accept their fate. There is glory for those who defy their fate

Yep, except if you have other 'Walkers. This represents how he was able to temporarily convince the circle of nine to walk into Phyrexia.
Urza himself, however, has questions about his own loyalty. Thus he has starting loyalty one.
erwin wrote: | though i don't get it why does he have to deal damage. It's more like his inventions, but not Urza. |
Wasn't Urza's Rage about Urza, you know, raging? Similarly his tier 2 abi was taken from Mind over Matter, one of the popular spells that he was known for using. So basically, I disagree that I used his inventions to represent him.
That said, I'm really sad about this card's lack of connection to artifacts. _________________ Nosfecatu Publishing |

Yeah. It should have:
-8: You may play any number of cards with Urza's on its name without paying its mana cost.

Shouldn't his second ability be more than a Twiddle?? Considering that Garruk, for instance, has a Call of the Herd built in.
What about this:
3UR
Urza Redux
Planeswalker - Urza
+1: Tap or untap target permanent.
-2: Search your library for an artifact card and put it in your hand. Then shuffle your library.
-10: Urza deals 10 damage to target creature or player. The damage can't be prevented. _________________ I shut my eyes in order to see. |

Based on the Planeswalker novel:
Yawgmoth's Cursed
2BU
Planeswalker-Urza
Loyalty 3
+1: Put a Phyrexian token into play under an opponent's control. Treat this token as a 1/1 Black Minion Creature.
-2: Put a Yotian Soldier into play. Treat this token as a 1/4 Soldier Artifact Creature with vigilance.
-8: Put a Dreadnought token into play. Treat this token as a 12/12 Dragon artifact creature with trample. _________________ Nosfecatu Publishing |

i prefer that version. let me take a whack at it, johnny-tastic
Master Artificer
8
Loyalty 3
+1: Put a copy of target permanent you control into play under target opponent's control. That copy is an artifact in addition to its other types.
-3: Put a copy of target permanent into play under your control. That copy is an artifact in addition to its other types.
-6: Target artifact becomes a */* creature in addition to its other types, where * is the number of artifacts in play and in all graveyards.
flavorwise, it fits, i think. not so much into the planeswalker stuff, admittedly, but still, he is pretty bad-arse. And he fits in any deck. _________________ By the Power of Truth, I, while living, have conquered the Universe!

here's another one for teferi
Mage of Zhalfir
2UUUU
Planeswalker - Teferi
Loyalty 2
+1: Target instant or sorcery spell gains split second.
-2: Target instant or sorcery spell gains storm.
-5: Copy any number of target spells. Draw a card for each spell copied this way. _________________ By the Power of Truth, I, while living, have conquered the Universe!

okay, let me try this again
Mage of Zhalfir
2UUUU
Planeswalker - Teferi
Loyalty 2
+1: The next instant or sorcery spell you play this turn has split second.
-2: The next instant or sorcery spell you play this turn has storm.
-5: Whenever you play an instant or sorcery spell this turn, you may copy that spell. You can choose new targets for that spell.
that should work... how much do you think this card will be in the secondary market, based on today's meta? _________________ By the Power of Truth, I, while living, have conquered the Universe!

I would say around 200-600. It's only useful for a very specific sort of deck; it's by no means an auto-include in blue, since the abilities necessarily have to be used on its controller's turn. Moreover, you've got a heavy commitment to blue here, since the triple blue casting cost is by no means a "splash". Then again, the cards that could benefit from storm... there are a lot of possibilities there. So the big price gap is because of this; it's whether or not it can be exploitable into a deck that can actually win. _________________ And I'm still, still longing. Still cold... so cold. |

The original idea was a lot less useful, letting you choose two from a slew of "block" abilities (i.e. can't block this turn, can block an additional creature, must block if able, is unblockable, and cannot be blocked except by two or more creatures) _________________ And I'm still, still longing. Burn with Me
RR
Instant
Burn with Me deals 4 damage to target creature or player and 4 damage to you.
it just sort of came to mind. A less costly but more hurting (to you) Char. _________________ There is happiness for those who accept their fate. There is glory for those who defy their fate

Interesting design. At worst it's a "we die together!!" kinda card, or alternatively a replacement for the honorable mana burn death _________________ And I'm still, still longing. Still cold... so cold. |
