I had a newbie build with Element TD, but it definitely worked for me... I just built advanced towers of each element and I never built any of the hybrid towers... I can finish the game, don't know if it works just as well as erwin's technique.

@supertotoy: What do you mean finish the game? NOBODY, i repeat, NOBODY CAN DEFEAT RONALD. (it's a never-ending wave of scary clowns with random armor type)
My combination is Fire(3) Water(3) Light(3) and the rest is interest lol
Immolation Tower (2500 dmg per second) + Monsoon tower (summons tornadoes that slow) + Ice Tower (high damage, slows units) + Water Hero, Medusa (has slow aura) = creeps almost not moving, even at the center
Energy Tower at the end, random damage (5000-49999!) but has 33% chance to crit for double damage. Kills nasty creeps who goes through, even ronald XD
