No one wants to discuss my fae.... Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Please tell me I'm in the right direction, at least. Fae have never been warlike, and as such they refrained from taking an active part in the godfall war. Instead, Pono created his own mortals (elves?) to aid him. Filhef'nas is also mostly inaccessible to outside forces. Scouts have been sent in, and the strangest things happened. Most did not even return, but some returned 100 years later, not having aged a day. Some return almost immediately but has aged sixty years. etc etc etc..

Still need ideas, guys. ..

From what I gather, you're going the "Fae bring hope to the land!" route, more or less. That's okay, but it's very much like Greyhawk Fey: mostly good, etc. etc. That's my main gripe really, in that it feels just like the other fey we've always encountered. But this is a new world, and you've got a clean slate.

So go crazy Very Happy

Don't be restricted by standard DnD norms; hell, if we wanted our Dwarves to be particularly unstable, or our Gnomes to be good friends with Kobolds, we could do that. If there are any inconsistencies we can sort those out later.

Of course if you want to go the classic fey route then that's okay too. Whatever you think is best for the setting.

In Godstone, gnomes invented the uzi and kobolds invented the Megazord. That's what I meant by action-packed campaign setting.

See, yhis is why I wanted your ideas; I want to know if you get the feel that I've been trying to do. And I don't think you quite get it yet. Not to worry, I'll work on it. But some points:

*When did I say that the fey are mostly good? They're isolationist, yes, but if you dare trespass on Fil'hefnas they'll screw your bad you wished they just kicked your a** instead. Then they'll grant your wish. Twisted Evil

I'll work on that aspect. Give me two days, and I'll post a new proposal.

Alvin John Mayor: well.. I got this old campaign from before
Alvin John Mayor: I even got language on that single culture...
Alvin John Mayor: I could rehash that one for you
Billy Recio: yeah, although ive been trying (and failing) to put a filipino feel on this project since day one
Billy Recio: kasi look, right now
Billy Recio: it's startin g to feel like warhammer
Billy Recio: but that's been done
Billy Recio: at least ang pinas, crisp
Billy Recio: but...*sigh* i guess not everyone shares my opinion
Billy Recio: that phil myth is cool enough for dnd
Alvin John Mayor: I share your opinion
Alvin John Mayor: that philippines is good for a campaign setting...
Alvin John Mayor: and the myths are rich as any other culture..
Alvin John Mayor: however, translating it to dnd can be a pain in the ass
Alvin John Mayor: since we're Filipinos, ironically..
Alvin John Mayor: btw, do we excel in spirit magic here?
Billy Recio: but it can be done. i mean, godstones nga chinatiyaga natin, eh
Billy Recio: babaylan are adept at communicating with spirits
Billy Recio: that much i know
Alvin John Mayor: but generally, are our magic more.... druidic or shamanistic?
Billy Recio: shamanistic, me thinkswe are druidic with regards to healing, but for supernatural, more shamanistic i think..
Alvin John Mayor: i think our healing is rather shamanistic too...
Alvin John Mayor: we have to translate that into the dnd setting
Alvin John Mayor: I guess, since they are more shamanistic than arcane, they will use a godstone much more differently than anyone else
Alvin John Mayor: they unlike any other, can absorb the essence into their being...
Alvin John Mayor: much like calling down a spirit
BUZZ!!!
Billy Recio: hehe. have you noticed that the fae settled in the exact same land that they buried Pono?
Alvin John Mayor: i noticed that... any significant play right there?
Billy Recio: their using Pono's bones and probably don't even know it yet
Billy Recio: Very Happy
Billy Recio: that is why their magic is stronger there
Alvin John Mayor: as you've pointed out earlier...
Billy Recio: as i've pointed out earlier?
Alvin John Mayor: yep, in your discussion with revan
Billy Recio: ah. you read. Very Happy
Alvin John Mayor: yeah... been experiencing brain drain, that's hy I didn't comment earlier...
Billy Recio: in any case, that's how it is. but unlike the other godstone users, they think the power is coming from the land
Billy Recio: so, the godstone filters their powers
Billy Recio: or rather, strengthens them
Billy Recio: as they call it from the land
Billy Recio: what do you think?
Alvin John Mayor: and absorb like a spirit...
Alvin John Mayor: visuals, smoke rising from land, a green mist that fill them, setting the fae aglow with raw power
Alvin John Mayor: raw power... and shape it as they will
Alvin John Mayor: unlike other godstone users, they can channel the power directly using their bodies
Alvin John Mayor: and in doing so, they have been... transformed by it
Alvin John Mayor: what do you think?
Billy Recio: transformed?
Billy Recio: hmm.. well, they are more aggro then your standard fey
Billy Recio: enter Filhefnas at your own risk
Billy Recio: but ill ponder on it
Alvin John Mayor: they've become stronger
Alvin John Mayor: and more agile...
Billy Recio: yeah... i'll try that route, anmd see what i can cook up
Billy Recio: anyway, time na ako... Sad
Alvin John Mayor: hahaha...
Alvin John Mayor: o cge...
Alvin John Mayor: I'll post my ideas too on the fae...
Billy Recio: yeah
Billy Recio: am thinking if i should extend pa
Alvin John Mayor: extend ka pa/
Alvin John Mayor: para mapag-usapan na ung fae
Billy Recio: ayt. 30 more minutes
Alvin John Mayor: hahhaha
Billy Recio: pono was originally... well, a tree
Billy Recio: lol
Billy Recio: then, i used Revan's worship thingie
Billy Recio: during the godfall war, he slowly turned into something resembling the master of the hunt
Alvin John Mayor: i don't really think so... his was a dual nature all along...
Alvin John Mayor: he is rather... not bound to anyone... being chaotic neutral and all
Billy Recio: that could work
Billy Recio: in any case, at least we developed one god already lol
Billy Recio: originally, i was gonna say that when he turned humanoid, he turned his name from Pono to Pinono
Billy Recio: didn't include that, though, coz it might confuse him as two gods
Alvin John Mayor: parang pianono ah?
Alvin John Mayor: lol
Billy Recio: playing with tagalog: Pono=tree Pinono=leader
Billy Recio: i seem to remember reading somewhere na yuin talaga yung rootword ng pinuno
Billy Recio: and that is why there is "ponong datu"..
Billy Recio: so there. That's where i got it
Billy Recio: but it felt distasteful after someone pointed out
Billy Recio: thAT it sounded like porno
Alvin John Mayor: ahhahaha
Alvin John Mayor: wag na kasi pono... tagalog un e
Alvin John Mayor: try bisaya or ivatan...
Alvin John Mayor: it could be better
Alvin John Mayor: we have lots of dialects here
Billy Recio: ah. pero tagalog lang alam ko
Alvin John Mayor: i'll research on it
Billy Recio: would really change it if i have the knowledge
Billy Recio: yes please. nomenclature is important
Billy Recio: Very Happy
Alvin John Mayor: we don't want to sound corny don't we?
Billy Recio: yeah. but for a while there i really liked Pono
Alvin John Mayor: well... this would help you a little...
Alvin John Mayor: you could, invent your own dialect, but you have to visualize the culture first
Alvin John Mayor: my ling subject knowledge will aid you in construction
Alvin John Mayor: you can have a tagalog base
Billy Recio: whoah. big step. we should stick to Fil dialects, i think, if we want to retain the notion.
Alvin John Mayor: you do could do that
Alvin John Mayor: it'll be fine... as I said, I'll help you eith linguistic stuff
Billy Recio: well, we could give it a try
Alvin John Mayor: first, let's have a keyword
Alvin John Mayor: a thing that is very central to the culture
Billy Recio: well, the god started out as a tree. visually, he looks like every tree and like no tree you've ever seen in your life
Billy Recio: and yeah, he touched the clouds with his leaves
Alvin John Mayor: let's say he started out as a seed?
Billy Recio: seed works. he grew from previous creation
Alvin John Mayor: hm... so birth would be from binhi, or punla or something like that...
Alvin John Mayor: distorting it...
Billy Recio: we need to make it sound masculine too
Billy Recio: he was father to the fae after all
Alvin John Mayor: ok...
Alvin John Mayor: starting...
Billy Recio: Binhi-On? i suck at this... T-T
Alvin John Mayor: niniganbitan
Alvin John Mayor: we'll make this shorter...
Billy Recio: yeah
Alvin John Mayor: biagtan
Alvin John Mayor: born... like sunray...
Alvin John Mayor: does taht sound better?
Billy Recio: Biagtan is nice. It fits the feel
Billy Recio: Very Happy

Quote:
Alvin John Mayor: that is for "tree rising"
Alvin John Mayor: that's why biag = life
Alvin John Mayor: kinda ilocano...
Alvin John Mayor: hm...
Alvin John Mayor: constructing a phrase right now, using the new word...
Alvin John Mayor: or sentence is better...
Billy Recio: go, hehe
Alvin John Mayor: Biagtan ni Alaw Sing'una Pang Panaon
Alvin John Mayor: now I'll contruct a poem, and post in the boards tommorw...
Billy Recio: hey, that was really cool.
Billy Recio: Cool
Billy Recio: ayt. time na ulit ako..
Billy Recio: Sad
Alvin John Mayor: sure, you'll see the poem the first thing tommorow...
Billy Recio: repost ko to sa boards. hope Xtian doesn't consider this flooding..

I like where this train of thought is going. Sure. Keep on with the Filipino culture incorporation. I'll try to set up a thread for other Filipino tidbits we can work in.

(I'm already thinking of fighting styles. Arnis/Kali/Eskrima based warriors sicking you with twin blades comes to mind. The two-weapon look actually works well with the wasteland feel. Almost Conan-esque, even.)

Hilarious how they've been "unconsciously" been using godstones.
