How to play Japanese mahjong*
Short Version
Long Version
*Short version for people who've played mahjong before, or even tong-its, long version is long and for people who have zero experience or can't make heads or tails of short version.
Try out the game in a non-hostile environment(aka. AI players)
Japanese Mahjong AI(in flash)
Ready to play online?
Room 4423
Room 7447
Room 8000
4423 is the room I plan to use for HGC games.
7447 is regarded as the room for english-speakers(may or may not be filled, time dependent).
8000 is a free-for-all room, should have people inside most of the time.
The game client is called Tenhou. to get in, click the appropriate link above, wait for the link in the page to change, then click it, it should lead to load flash. In the login screen, type in an 8 character name and click ok(there's no password).
Once inside, refer here to understand the lobby interface. I personally prefer Ari red(3rd button from top, 5th if 3 players) since it has lighter rules and a normal timer.
On gameplay, refer here.
Any questions can be asked in the thread. Get in touch with me at YM (la_akong_magawa) so I can set up a game when enough interested people are here. _________________

Almost all of those open sets came from me. Luckily, East was waiting on a White Dragon so we managed to draw. ^^ _________________ I shut my eyes in order to see. |

Here's a site I use for mahjong practice other than Tenhou: RON2.
Pros: It's easier to find a full table there compared to Tenhou at least. And since the site caters to the semi-/actual professionals, you'll find quality opponents to play against rather than simple Vanpei players. >_> In fact, be prepared to get thrashed in your first few games, especially when you face the 1800+ players.
Cons: The interface is a little ugly compared to Tenhou. Some of the buttons are out of the way compared to Tenhou when it just flashes on the screen. Also, still in Japanese so here's a guide on how to navigate the site. _________________ I shut my eyes in order to see. |
