So you want to DM in a Bonethrall game.

Guidelines:
*May I? - You need the express permission of a COPAL member before you can run a Cracklepoop game.
*Episodic - After running the first game, you are free to DM that group for one month. After that, you will have to start a new one (possibly with the same players), or request the tech team for an extension.
An RL game can only last for at most 10 weeks, while a PBP game may last for at most eight months.
*Starting level - When you start a Cracklepoop game, indicate a 3-level range (ex, lvls3-5). A player with an inactive Bonethrall character within that level range may join your game.
*Bookkeeping - Make sure your players update their characters online after every game.
Additionally, you have to write down a summary of each game played By the Campfire, or it will not be recognized by the tech team.
*Naming Conventions - This is a setting under construction, and chances are, you will have to name cities/dead gods/etc. Run your invented names by the fluff team, or ask them to help you think of one. Or, at worst, adopt Craclepoop-ism.
*We see a what?? - avoid handing out monsters more than 4levels above the party level. This rule is a loose one. But it's here for a reason.
*I kill it! - Make sure you understand the XP system in the DMG properly. Don't give them more/less xp than they're supposed to. Award skill challenge XP appropriately as well.

Recruitment for any COPAL-approved games go here. Those with inactive characters are advised to visit here every now and then.

Gah. I guess I have to start this one.

Recruitment!
Lizardbones
A Bonethrall game
Type PBP Dungeon Crawl
Character Levels 1-3
Players Minimum 3, Maximum 5
Campaign Synopsis After a recent earthquake, a rift opened up below the Domed City of Ilawith, revealing an underground complex beneath. The baron nominate of the Domed City has restricted access to these tunnels. That is, until a group of adventurers agreed to explore the tunnels, with the understanding that anything they may find can be seized by the barony after.

Interested parties post. I do not do charity work anymore, so this'll be a PBP unless you agree to me charging fees, in which case it'll last 3-5 game days.

Thread granted at PBP forums. All further discussion regarding Lizardbones should go there.

I don't want to announce my planned one-shot yet, as:

1. I don't have a snappy adventure name.
2. I don't have a good setup on paper yet.
3. I don't have the books yet.

Rest assured that once my own books arrive, I will post an ad here.

EDIT: Given how much more of a tactical game 4E is,

a. Does anyone have a battlemap/grid that we can use?
b. Minis? Or at least enough counters for a five player group + 10+minions and bosses?

princessa and I are working on a grid prototype, as well as stand-up mini-boards for, well, minis. If we decide that it's cheap enough, we may decide to do more on request (with sufficient pay, of course).

Recommendation: Sticky this thread, as this will be the official notice of any open Bonethrall adventures for the org.

I'm thinking about it; three stickies plus an announcement seem too much. But it's a thought.

It's better than this being buried deep in the forums, under the possibly new characters we would be posting.

Hmm... I planned to a few days back, but then, things just kept on piling up so I had no free time to create the plot, locations, NPCs etc. Will still try to run one, just not right now. Very Happy

Level Range and Experience Points

Bonethrall games have a level range, expressed in the form of Levels x-2 to x. This will allow various players to game for Bonethrall, while having their levels close enough to make them feel capable enough in a game.

That said, even at this range, some characters will be left out. especially in cases where a level 6 character with an 11th level item is in the same part as a level 4 character whose best item is 7th level, things might go a bit slow. Therefore, the Bonethrall CS will adopt this catchup xp system:

Suppose that: After a session, a character of the highest level, say x, gets y xp.
Then:
*A character of level x-1 gets 1.25*y xp
*A character of level x-2 gets 1.5*y xp

The level gap should always be 2. Thus, if a the gap widens, then the characters of the lowest level (that'd be level x-3) will receive the xp required to get to the bare minimum of level x-2, unless the supposed xp s/he gets was originally higher.

Maybe OT, but post this in the resources:

A pretty nifty Excel-based 4e character sheet.

Pretty handy, includes level-up changes, and special racial quirks (such as the free at-will for Half-elves, or the darkness spell for Drow) and is rapidly updated. Try it!

It has come to my attention that there is no Friday game.

I'm thinking if I should DM for that. It's almost the end of the sem, though, so it'll just be a 2-3 session thing. Hmm...

AAS, I thought you were planning of a Monday game? PLs make a thread so we (the players) could have a discussion on what to be(roles), since I'm not always on the tambayan.

I'll be a sorcerer. I'm part-controller anyway, so I think we'll manage.

I thought there's gonna be 5 of us, who's the other one?

And these (posts) aren't in the right thread. Very Happy

I'll try to go to UP as early as I can so I can find AS Hall before the appointed time. I'm certain I'll get lost somewhere along the way.

I'll be easy to find. One fat dude with a huge foamcore board. If you have miniatures that would represent your characters, all the better. I'm going to have to prepare makeshift stuff for your monsters.

If it's not too much to ask, I'd like everyone to generate their level 1 characters off Character Builder, as the character sheet printout there lays the powers out in detail. I'll be packing light, unfortunately, as figs and books aren't commuter-friendly.

don't forget to stick to RPGA character creation guidelines. Character Builder will say "legal" to a lot of things that's even not allowed for RPGA/LFRPG play.

see you all tomorrow.

Don't have access to character builder but I do have my character from back then and a cheat sheet printout for her powers.
