(This game uses the setting and characters from the Diliman by Night HGC world).

The election fever that's gripping the mortals of the Philippines is catching on with the vampires of Manila as well - the unexpected death of a beloved leader of Manila's midnight society leaves a gigantic power vacuum, and everyone wants to be the next fangbanger to fill that spot. Surprisingly, the idealistic and democracy-loving Carthians gain control of the proceedings to name the replacement... and decide to hold the first honest-to-goodness elections in Manila Vampire Society. Everyone's going to play nice, campaign peacefully, and respect the results right?

...

Of course not. The player characters will be forced to pick a side and survive the vicious and violent world of vampire society. If they succeed, they just might find themselves in positions of power at the side of the next great leader of Vampire Society. If they don't, they might end up on the wrong side of the sunrise...

Players: 5-6 players. Newbies are welcome to join!
Campaign Length: 4-6 sessions, 1 hour to 1 hour 30 mins each.
Tentative Time: Thursday or Friday afternoon.
Characters: Choose a pre-generated character, or bring a previous Diliman by Night Vampire character. NO SPARKLING.

Post here if you're interested, as well as what day you'd prefer.

If there aren't a lot of other players, count me in, I'm good for either Thursday or Friday, so long as it's regular sked.

Father Federico de Soya takes out a whetstone and begins polishing his zweihander. He doesn't really care much who becomes the new Prince of Manila. So long as he, she, or it respects the Traditions and allows the Lancea Sanctum to freely practice their faith, well, then, it's all the same to the Father. Of course, if the new leader is a practicing Sanctified, that would be good, for the Church is in many ways, the State. If the new leader disrespects the Testament of Longinus, well, then the new Prince does not rule with the Mandate of Heaven. Twisted Evil

A slight correction - you will not be replacing The Prince of Manila. Firstly, there is no single vampire who rules over all of Metro Manila. Instead, there are several notable vampires ruling over individual cities or portions of it, and territorial conflict often arises between them.

Secondly, the one who rules over most of the City of Manila is a Queen. Twisted Evil And she's not dying anytime soon.

Double post, but it's a game update, so...

Okay, had our first session this afternoon. Had Revan, AcidBlue, AAS, and one of the apps (whose username I don't know) participating. It's always fun to teach someone how to play NWOD!

We didn't have enough time to run a full session, since characters had to be generated and I took way too many cigarette breaks Razz but I think we were able to set-up the story enough.

BTW, if there are any interested in joining, I'm still accepting players here. My games are episodic enough that it's easy to insert and pull-out characters between sessions, although I have a feeling this game will have a tighter continuity between sessions than my previous games.

I'm not sure when the next session will be: Thursday or Friday. Same time, though. What's good for you, my players?

BJ note: Double-posts are okay as long as there are at least 24 hours in between each post.

OOC: It would really be great to have the time decided at least by monday, as I need to set my schedule and free up a workday.

EDIT: I think you'll also need to work on stylistics a bit. Transitions between your character voices are a bit unclear, so when you've got two NPCs in the scene, it's unclear who's speaking. It's like you're talking to yourself.

IC:

Fr. Federico de Soya, Sanctified Crusader, Nosferatu

A great woman has fallen tonight. A great leader who lead the struggle against the filthy godless Leech.

The leaders of the Lancea Sanctum sit in holy conclave tonight to discuss the situation, while outside, Federico de Soya and his friend Brother Andrew meet to discuss the situation. The fallen leader, Madame Glory was a great friend to the Sanctified, and under her rule, Sanctified influence flourished. Her passing was a great loss to the Damned of Manila, but her soul deserves her rest. Perhaps the purifying flames will burn a few degrees cooler for her sake.

Federico brings out his greatsword and carefully oils and polishes the immaculately maintained blade. He does not remember much of his previous awakenings. He was born in the Basque highlands of the Iberian peninsula, therefore by definition, he was born for war, and when the Sanctified taught him the divine revelations of the Testament of Longinus, Federico rejoiced, for he knew he had finally found the war he was born to fight. Anything else was superflous dross, momentary experiences shed during the Long Sleep of torpor, much as a snake sheds its outgrown skin.

Federico and Andrew suspect that the Sanctified will choose to field their own candidate in this election. Possibly the firebrand, Sister Lourdes, a famous leader in the struggle against the Leech. Sister Lourdes is famous among the Damned of Manila for her role in the struggle, a role that Federico, the martial crusader, respects.

Federico chuckles to himself. "Free and fair elections?" What could the Carthian idiots have been thinking? The mortal sheep of this country can't even run a normal election properly! What more the ferociously backbiting and treacherous Damned of Manila! Still, if they insist on this farce, Federico wouldn't lift a hand to stop the Carthians from digging their own tombs. Hells, the Sanctified might even end up profiting from them.

It won't be easy though. Sister Lourdes' firebrand reputation is well known, and many among the Invictus and the Circle of the Crone would be threatened. Her "fire and brimstone" attitude towards the pagans is one of her more endearing traits, Federico muses. And her insistence on the rights of each and every one of the Damned, while skirting the edges of outright defiance of the local conclave, is respected by the Carthians and the unaligned. Her enemies will strike at her. Federico knows it will only be a matter of time.

Federico de Soya takes up the greatsword, his hands wrapping around the grip, the blade becoming an extension of his body. They will strike against her, and once the enemies of the Sanctified have revealed themselves, then it will be his turn to unleash the blessed wrath of the Lord of Hosts upon them. de Soya tosses an apple into the air. He watches it fly up, arcing gracefully. At the right moment Federico de Soya swings his sword.

Longinus preached of unity for the Kindred under a divine purpose, but for those who turn away from the words of God and the Dark Prophet, there is only pain, damnation, and the righteous wrath of the Sanctified. The greatsword tears through the apple, the fruit exploding in a shower of pulp and juice.

They fear her. And the Sanctified will use that fear to smoke out our enemies.

Using an old Vampire character

Daniel "Danny" Fukuda, Carthian Freelancer, Mekhet

He was about to “water” his plant when he heard the news. A text from an acquaintance in the Mayor’s staff read ‘Ate Glory is gone’. He let out a small chuckle. Ate Glory, a great leader who led the righteous struggle against the tyrannical rule of the thrice damned Leech, has met Final Death and there he was with a yellow rose in front of him. He bought the plant, along with a back up red rose plant, the previous night after his meeting with an old “commy” friend, intending to try something that was mentioned in their conversation. He found the coincidence tragically amusing.

Danny was about to leave to check in on the Mayor’s office when his cellphone started vibrating. It was a call Ka Dory, his sire. “Been a while Danny Boy. Listen, Ate Glory willed her turf to the Party. PC’s decided to have an open election to determine who gets to have Ate Glory’s territory. We need to talk. Meet me at the usual place.”

The Prefects get handed the juiciest piece of prime real estate to open up in decades and their giving it away? He was no political expert but even to him that sounded stupid. But then again the Prefects weren’t exactly the half-wits the old bloods and the church huggers say they are. But still…

“Screw it” Danny muttered to himself. The Council knows what their doing, he might as well see what he can do to help. Who knows, he might even get something out of it. He patted his pocket to check his car keys and started looking around when he didn’t find them there. His keys were on his desk next to the yellow rose plant he was supposed to be working on. He looked at the plant for a moment and then picked it up as well as his keys.

“Oh well”, he thought as he placed the plant back on his window sill “looks like I am going to be using the red rose after all”.

NPC Bio: Madame Glory (Daeva)

Madame Glory was a beloved figure in Manila's vampire circles. Everybody agrees that she was instrumental in ending the reign of "The Leech", the vampire uberlord of Manila during the 50's. She was a nondescript neonate of little importance until The Leech, in a fit of pique, ordered the destruction of her sire, an idealistic upstart who was attempting to call for the ejection of The Leech from his throne. The death of her sire (and lover) became the last straw which convinced all of The Leech's multiple enemies to finally unite and take him down, and it was Glory herself who personally dusted the fat monster who called himself "The King of Manila".

Glory then took over as Master of Manila's vampires - where the first thing she did was to abolish her office, and establish the "Konseho ng Gabi" (Council of the Night), where each Covenant and each Prince (or equivalent) ruled over the city. She managed to get the different covenants to stop fighting long enough to restore a semblance of order, and cared little for her popularity when she did not veto the Konseho's decision to eject the Circle of the Crone from Metro Manila after an extremely violent power grab that came perilously close to breaking the Masquerade.

Officially, Glory was on the Konseho thanks to her dominion over the Timog district of Quezon City, and while everyone else on the Konseho deferred to her, she never actually exercised her power over the Konseho once the dust had settled in the chaos after the destruction of The Leech. She instead concentrated on ensuring that her little corner of Manila was quiet and orderly, and that the often vicious vampire politics stayed out of her domain.

And then she walked into the sunlight.

Simon Ibarra, Underground Revolutionary, Gangrel Circle of the Crone

Simon Ibarra was looking at the mirror, carefully combing his hair. He reached for the large rimmed tinted glasses he always wore and nodded in satisfaction.

A sound on the other end of the room told him that he had just received a message. It was Ka Sisa from the mountains. She approved her request for a webcam conference and put on his earphones. "Greetings comrade," her voice crackled. "Have you heard the news?"

He wasn't surprise. Her death was the talk of whole Metro after all. "Yes, I've already arranged to send a bouquet of yellow flowers to the funeral," he said. "I assume you're calling me to arrange that these--hah--elections turn to our advantage?"

Ka Sisa nodded. "I want you to wake someone..."

Ibarra spent a few minutes memorizing the documents Ka Sisa said before erasing them thoroughly from his computer. He stood up and checked his wallet. He had ample cash to hire some helpless mook to dig Ka Elias out...and feed him, of course.

Important Places: The Pacific Infotech Building
Located along Ayala Avenue, this midsized building is dominated by the Pacific Infotech call center company, which occupies the 15th to 25th floors. There is a Chow King on one side, a Starbucks on the other, and a parking lot behind it. Some say this place is cursed - Pacific Infotech is the 5th company to own this building in the past 10 years.

AAS:
Remind me to inform you about Ka Sisa's reaction to your dilemma.
