SUB: UNIVERSITY-WIDE STUDENT CODE CONSULTATION

Warm Greetings of Solidarity!

The University Student Council (USC) stands as the highest representative organization of students of the University of the Philippines- Diliman. Through the years, the USC embodied and provided a strong and principled leadership, as well as uncompromising commitment in serving the students, the whole UP community and the Filipino people in general.

In this regard, the USC Students’ Rights and Welfare Committee (STRAW), a special standing committee inside the University Student Council primarily tasked to promote and protect students’ rights and welfare would like to invite your organization to join in the upcoming activity regarding the issue of the draft of the 2009 Code of Student Conduct.

Last March 2, 2009, the UP Administration through the Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs posted the draft of the 2009 Code of Student Conduct in the UP website for the perusal of the students. After it was posted, it gained strong oppositions from the students with regards on how it was crafted and the provisions inside it. In line with these oppositions, the administration decided to conduct series of consultations to give venue for the students to air out their sentiments and positions.

In line with this, we would like to invite you and your organization to join in the FINAL UNIVERSITY-WIDE STUDENT CODE CONSULTATION to be held next Monday, September 7, 2009, 4:30 pm at the National Engineering Center (NEC) Auditorium. This will be the last and final venue where the students can formally register their stand and call about the code so maximum participation is a must.

This is the same version of the student code that would really :consored: around with the org system, right? Therefore I think the execom should be there, right? After all, if it passes, then goodbye org, right?

Just my two cents worth. If the execom doesn't feel like being around, I understand perfectly.

After all that drama last AY regarding people not wanting to disband the org, I fully expect that they have enough org love to attend here en masse.

All right, Monday is a non-working holiday. You guys might want to find out ASAP if this has been rescheduled.

Hate to doublepost, but is there any word on this? I somewhat assume that it won't push through tomorrow, but is there any word when it will be resked to?

And who will be going?

Just got back from Banahaw...nothing on the yahoogroups where I got this info. Let me check elsewhere.
