Remember how I said no netdecking in the Standard Deck Thread? Well, that's because discussion of netdecks, rogue decks, and other assorted decks to beat are to be discussed here in the meta thread.
So there. Discuss.
EDIT: Un-stickied due to lack of discussion. _________________ And I'm still, still longing. Still cold... so cold. |

Again, I'll start, though this info is kinda dated.
The Philcoa meta last time I checked had lots of Ghazi-Glare, Solar Flare, and URW variants. Dragonstorm has been picking up in terms of popularity, but results haven't been too good so that might be out soon. UR and RW variants have been picking up steam, and results so far have been very good, so plan accordingly. aggro is still something of a no-no to play in the format, as the sheer amount of decks running Wildfire and Wrath of God will be a bit of a hindrance. and oh, contrary to popular belief, reanimator decks are still very much in season, despite the presence of Tormod's Crypt and Leyline of the Void.
sideboards should have at least two Tormod's Crypts or something similar, 3-4 of Shadow of Doubt/Trickbind/Castigate/anti-Storm measure, and then pack whatever else you feel like after that. green aggro decks that roll over and die to Fortune Thief should consider Unyaro Bees or Serrated Arrows. the arrows are cheaper to cast and are time tested, but the Unyaro Bees are some mad rogue tech, so if only for that, i'd go for the former. _________________ And I'm still, still longing. yep, Trickbind too.
btw, flores has a new Swimming with the Sharks article, found here: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=mtgcom/daily/mf123. it should give people a good idea of what to expect in the future. _________________ And I'm still, still longing. Still cold... so cold. |

if you really want to piss off dragonstorm players you will go for hide and seek since its a split card you can either use it against artifacts and enchantments or use it to remove dragonstorm or any other pest dragons hiding within the deck. only thing is this is only applies if you are using a flare deck. _________________ Only by confronting your darkest fears can you find the light...

actually dragonstorm kinda fell out of the meta, or so i hear. currently UW tron variants are doing pretty well, as well as UB Pickles (i.e. Shapeshifter + Elemental combo). _________________ And I'm still, still longing. Still cold... so cold. |

Dunno.
It's a very unstable block, having so many concepts put all in one block..
Maybe combo decks will rise
Some of the 10th ed cards are good, with the Muses and stuff..
maybe old decks of past cards will rise too _________________ There is happiness for those who accept their fate. There is glory for those who defy their fate

the metagame as of this date? Tarmogoyf.
Many variants of Tarmogoyf had sprung and one of the common meta would be BG Tarmo-Rack Deck. Curse that 1G Lhurgoyf.T_T
Meanwhile, AngelFire's still on the list making use mostly of Lightning Angel and lotsa scry-ers. Too bad Court Hussar and Lghtning Helix got only until October 20 to breathe in T2.
And also watch out for those pesky UG decks... _________________

Tarmogoyf 1G
Creature - Lhurgoyf
Tarmogoyf has a power of * and toughness of *+1 where * is the number of card types among cards in all graveyards. (The card types are creature, enchantment, instant, sorcery, artifact, tribal and planeswalker.)

Metagame this season?
1) Revellark. It had put Momentary Blink decks to a new level. But with Block Constructed decks for the upcoming Grand Prix this August, people were scramming on how to tweak their Standard Revellark decks to Block Constructed ones. Has bad matchup versus the faes and the mermen.
2) Bitterblossom. This was the staple card if you plan on running Black Fae/Rogue decks. Note that Faes become staple in Block Constructed Tourneys. And FNM's as of this date run in Block Constructed in tune for the upcoming Grand Prix. Back to the bitterblossom, this enchantment works well with Oona's Blackguard.
3) U/W Kithkins. They sure stole the spotlight in the recent grand Prix beating faeries. And the also reason why people were hunting Mirrorweaves and Burrenton Forge Wizard. (a good example, all your creatures attack then Mirroweave, copying Thistledown Liege or Wizened Cenn, putting out life totals in one swing.)
Side notes:
Cryptic Command hits high at 400php per pc. Ouch.
Flame Javelins still scorches at 600php/set (but you could get 2 of those in the R/G precon) _________________

I hate these times where blocks are cycling out and your deck goes out of the waves of standardness. The thallids will be out by the time alara comes and I'm still up in my arse thinking what my next deck should be. _________________ "I should mug people to this song. Team Spiral Weblog and MTG Card Store
Musings on Magic: the Gathering from a Manila-based team (and a card shop too!).
Weblog and online inventory of one of the best MTG teams in the Philippines.
got this from philcoamagic.multiply.com
usually discusses meta, and card prices. I think it helps here. _________________ There is happiness for those who accept their fate. There is glory for those who defy their fate
