I am suggestion to include another tenet to our beloved org: Professionalism.
What is professionalism? With quick googling, I found a good definition:
Quote: |
Being professional is a declaration, wherein you mention, how you like to get treated by others? Its about attitude, behavior, self-presentation; self-respect and dignity. It means not just knowing how to do your job, but demonstrating a willingness to learn, cooperating and getting along with others, showing respect, and living up to your commitments. It also means avoiding many kinds of behaviors that cause trouble in the workplace. It doesn’t matter, if you work as a clerk or a CEO of the company but if you behave the way people expect a professional to behave, you'll be accepted and treated like one.

Professionalism is very hard to define. You know it but it is very hard to explain. I, for one, thinks that we really need to include the concept of professionalism in our org. It will keep us going and moving.
In relation with other tenets, the concept of professionalism overlaps with them. You can actually find the concept of other tenets above such as initiative.
We are not only hobby gamers, we are professional hobby gamers.

I agree, at the very least we should instill respect for each other and the org |

Professionalism as work ethic, hell yeah.
You guys know me, I'm not a fan of uber stiff and restrictive systems, but there is such a thing as being too relaxed and too friendly.
Now, the problem is actually promoting it in practice. It's one thing to have it as a tenet, and another thing actually executing it. |
