My friend Hamsterfriend has just joined the boards. Some of you may have met him at the OGMs already. He's planning on setting up a Hobby org at ADMU, and he wants to talk to us about it. Suggestions, comments, and whatnot?

I am unsure as to whether our jurisdiction will extend to inter-school. Inter-campus with LB, yes, but this...

If we can help expand the org to ADMU HGC, it'll be awesome. Since ADMU is closer to Diliman than LB is, i'd suggest setting up a meeting with this guy.

juaberman should be there, plus we should let the guy see our Constitution. On his end, we should ask him for their OSA requirements (or whatever their Student Office is called). If it is within our power, we should help him out.

The date should be up to him, not us. Although the sooner, the better.

After I hear the date, I'll see if I can be there.

Hobbygaming knows no jurisdiction. It extends to all outer, inner, transitive, and material planes. It knows no time as gaming is forever.

Weh..

Personally, I don't mind having an independent ADMU HGC. In fact, I'm excited.

Come on guys, opportunities are knocking. Officially, this is current org admin's job, however alumni (i think i'm speaking for the whole here) are in full support of this.

Any oldies who will be tomorrow at the GA? Give them a warm welcome guys!

ADMU HGC....... sounds great. But I don't think that their going to use our name anyways originality and stuff you know. As long as they are a fellow hobby org then let's go break our legs trying to support them. With regard to sharing the constitution, before you do that better make certain revisions to make it easier and presentable. I'm just paranoid and all but wouldn't it be better if you just give them ideas rather than sharing the actual consti since they might just use it then scrap us out of the idea, don't mind me its just the neutral evil that is talking within me or better yet we should also make sure that we could make use of them too. Twisted Evil Twisted Evil
Hope no one gets offended special TBC since their your friends, I'm just looking out in our end so that we are not just the one sharing our end of the stick if you know what I mean.

Where do you get these, dark_axis? We'll show them the Consti. Nothing was said about sharing them.

The concern is a valid one. ADMU will be a great resource for inter-school agendas that may come up, and that in itself is incentive to help the guys out.

In any case, the current administration should handle this. Not us alumni.

If I tell you then I might have to kill you.... nah just joking. Or it might be the other voices in the dark. Hehehehehe Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes
We might not be in the same page regarding the connotation of "letting them see the constitution" and "sharing the constitution", I'm just concern or maybe to say it in a better way, cautious. Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

I personally don't see anything wrong with letting them see/copy the consti. After all, what's the worst they can do? Run us out of UP? It might even be better to let them see it; I'd prefer more hobbygaming groups than less. Very Happy

We talked with one of TBC's friends (the new member Hamster Friend), asking him about the mechanics of how orgs are set up and supported in AdMU, our own experience in setting up an org in UP, our vision and :consored: for what HGC is supposed to be like, and fluff. Main problem with their setup is similar to ours at our early stages:

-lack of tambayan
-lack of community
-general standoffishness of the gamer cliques (TCG not mixing with RPG not mixing with LARP etc)

We offered help in consti ideas, practical advice on community building and tambayan suggestions, and mutual assistance for activities like game meets, etc. TBC has Hamster Friend's contact info iirc, and since Hamster Friend is now a member of the boards, you can also pm him here.

That's a quick summary. Yosi sessions with TBC, HF, juaberman, and BB seemed productive as icebreaker.

Lack of tambayan? What happened to AS hill?

Lack of community. Well that's always a fact. On the bright side though, having a small population means stronger bonds with its members.

Good to know though that something happened. ^__^

The three are problems that the AdMU gamers faced. We had roughly the same problems.

-Their tambayan is essentially the corridors of one of the buildings. Much like our initial woes in AS 4th floor and AS 2nd floor lobby.
-Lack of community between various gaming groups. Which is the reason why we founded HGC.
-Lack of mingling between the various game types. The AdMU gamers apparently don't mix genres much. TCGers hang with TCGers, and RPGers with RPGers. We were lucky we had a bunch of crossover players during our founding.

I don't see theses things as problems more of an opportunity.

First, regarding the tambayan issue. Their ADMU people I think they could afford to build one or better yet maybe their school offers such facilities to them. They must double check first.

Lack of community. We also thought at first that only a few were interested in a hobby gaming group. But that can easily be fixed with a little publicity.

Communication with other gaming groups. That's easy they should at least have a knowledge for each gaming group. What I mean is that someone should be willing from their group to learn such games and that person alike would be the creating the bridge between the gaming groups.

Kudos, to all of you. Hope that things would turn out good for the rest of you guys.

It would appear DM (the Ateneo dude) had fun at his visit to HGC.

Quote:
Monday was grand. Thanks to the_bumper_car I was able to sit in at a GA of the UP Hobby Gamer's Circle; I left UP with much advice on how to possibly go about founding such a group in Ateneo as well as a warm, fuzzy feeling like I was back in a different version the good ole days at Hobby Haven.

Follow-up na lang natin to. We discussed the potential of a UP/Ateneo crossover gaming event - maybe a GameCrab EB or something? Anybody game for that?

I have updates!

Ok so first: ADMU's LitSoc (of which DM is the President right now) is having a Collector's Event in January, and they're planning to invite HGC there. Expect an email from them officially, Juaberman.

Also, they are interested in participating in HGC's ACLE event this sem, if it involves literary stuff.
