Okey.. our world is a wasteland (or most of it...)... so may I ask you fellow COPALS, especially those who already DM'd Bonethrall games, how do you imagine the geography of the world?

Is it Mars-like? Reddish rusty lands with ice caps and mountainous terrains?
Or VEnus-like? Hot and smoky air and everything is violent?

Do you see it with mostly water or land? How is the water? Is there ice? Can you easily catch fish on rivers?

How is the air? Is the air poisonous? Is it foggy? How thick is it? What's the color? Is it windy? Can you see the sun? the stars? the moon? do they exist at all? Are there maya birds?

We know that the world is a friggin wasteland but we need more details. Does our world (or planet) have a name?

A lot of the place is closer to Mars atm, but with areas clustered around water sources being ridiculously fecund.

Ice and snow exist in temperate areas, tundras, and high altitudes.

Water is something of a contested resource.

Recent games have shown that I really should talk to people about how the entire Dead/Wild Sun thing works.

At the moment, it is simply Creation. And I'm open to suggestions on naming.

I believe that the only real area that's a blasted wasteland is the one near the Daemonscar. I've always imagined that Creation has already gone past the turbulent years. It's like what happened in Chrono Trigger, there was "The Day of Lavos" (our Godfall war), the world fell into chaos and some few hundred years it was a vast blasted wasteland (applies to both CT and BT) and eventually the world balanced itself out due to natural forces greater than the gods or time.

Interesting ... who knows what's lurking on this friggin blasted wastelands... if this was 3e I'd throw living spells such as living fireball or even living disjunction depending on my mood har har har har!

ATTENTION TECH TEAM:
Are there any official living spells on 4e? If not this is another good opportunity for BT creatures.

The nearest "living spells" are living breaths from Draconomicon, though they're not exactly based from spells, and are made by really strong/old dragons, powerful enough to give their breath sentience.

Addition to the geography, the sun is a hazard to the world. Wink

HOw dangerous is the sun? Five minutes exposure and you get sun burn?

If the Nagthari don't sacrifice enough slaves to their godstone, sunstorms normally occur outside Nagthari lands. Blasts of energy from the Daystar fall down on to the world burning lots of stuff. Normally at heroic levels the worst it could do to the world is blast a tiny crater in to the planet, maybe at epic it could help create whatever weather this dang blasted world has left.

On the wastelands thing, we're somewhere in between.

There are still vast stretches of wastelands or magically warped terrain, especially where the gods died. The living breath creatures would be interesting things to build around for some of the blasphemous horrors crawling through these areas.

However, there are significant areas that have begun to recover from damage. Tarkonis before its destruction was lush grassland, and the Thousand Coasts boast a relatively mild, Mediterranean-like seashore climate (when not disrupted by sunstorms or long nights). "Points of Light" tend to spring around these safe zones.

The Dead/Wild Sun needs to be worked on pa. Will post more ideas on the two most used forms of this so far.
