(If you're curious SIGA is for Suggested Income Generating Activity)
Well, since I'm not privy to the org's actual activities, I'm assuming that the Color Games are one of the IGAs for this sem. The one thing I noticed about Color Games is that when the cards are distributed among the people, I usually am hoping to get the chase rare // uncommon // common and, basically, get shafted. It's definitely not satisfying to get crap cards that you would never ever use in a Constructed deck. For instance, last time I played I payed PhP 20-30 for cards essentially worth zilch like Moonglove Extract. However, Moonglove Extract is a good card -- in Limited. (You can see where I'm heading with this.)
I did the math for a Draft tourney should the org back the idea up.
PhP 4,200~ gives 36 packs, enough to supply a 8-12 person draft. (3 packs per person + rewards)
For an 8 player draft, each player will have to shell out PhP 525 (w/o profit) with a 3-2-1 reward distribution. Leaving 6 packs for Color Games. . . However, profit is small at best since 8 people are already shelling 500~ w/o even the profit calculated in. Which leads me to...
... the 10 player draft, which requires only PhP 420 with the 3-2-1 dist. I see it going up to PhP 500 which yields a profit of 800.
The 12 player draft, on the other hand, needs a down of PhP 350/player. There are no boosters available for rewards so there should be a pot. PhP 450 (the price of 3 boosters) gives 1200~, so split that and the rewards, hypothetically will be 300-200-100 (I know, not entirely overwhelming)
The major problem, I think, in this idea is that people would be a little overwhelmed by the cost. PhP 450-550~ is not exactly peanuts. But, and this may sound a little childish, since the box takes around 2 weeks to arrive, surely you guys can save that amount.
So, tell me what you think. I, for one, would like to join a Draft tourney. What about you guys? |

workable, in time. on the assumption that we use org funds to pay for the booster box, this will happen probably near the end of the sem.
i don't suggest pulling this off until we're absolutely sure we have the required number of players lined up. the investment is too large to risk. |

I really like the idea. We just need players to join.
has anybody experience playing draft tourney? I mean from other sponsors.
If the usual price for those is 450-550, then i think we're good. |

Tentatively, I have 5-6 players willing to join. (Should I list them down to ensure no backing-off?? ) Someone (I forgot who) suggested that we do this when Morningtide comes out (around Jan-Feb of next year).

What I had in mind was the players pay up 2 weeks before the date, so that the org needs no money down.
The other problem I failed to mention is location...
Well, the org tambayan could do in a pinch. The only problem is when it rains. . .

yes, there is that. location has always been a problem for us. this makes tourneys of all sorts very unrealistic, so unless we find a way around that, i must say i'm not very optimistic about this project. |

Been looking into the location problem. The tambayan is easily our best option if the sun, moon, and stars align and it does not rain. (Don't worry, I'm working on the Anti-Rain dance necessary for it)
However, should it rain here are some options I'm looking into:
(1) AS: A reserved room under the guise of a film viewing is easily arranged. The only snag is financial as it will cut into the profits we can generate.
(2) Hobby stop 2F: Well, FNMs are held here right? Surely a draft tourney isn't that far from it. Still checking into it though.
(3) oghma's house: Well, desperate times, right?
(4) Jolibee: If all, and I mean all, of our options are depleted, surely you guys can mind the shame of playing in a public space |

The Eventide drafts netted the org around ~360 per 8 players, if I recall correctly. |

Well, I just qualified as a Tourney Organizer so should the org want to run sanctioned tourneys just let me know. Though I'd want someone else to apply so I can join in the tourneys myself. |

Online.
It's easy; it only takes time to apply. Basically, all you need is a DCI number and you can set up basic tourneys. (And a shop venue helps as well.) |

My home address. The shop venue is actually the place where they send the materials. Since everything is submitted online, be it registration or results, the actual gaming location can be left to the TO.
btw, DnD minis is also covered in the exam I took, so should the org want to run one... |

Jolrayt!
Tourney organizer Q!
Iirc, organizers can actually join the tourneys they're handling, like Eric in FNM at Philcoa. |

Tourney postponed until next week. With a storm and all, I doubt anyone would be interested in playing. I know I can't, with the first floor of our house half-submerged. But if anyone has a jet ski or raft I can borrow, I guess I can make it. |

Better inform you're players. Text them or something, you wouldn't want them to swim to UP tomorrow. |

Depends on when the players are available. I can actually run this tourney by request. The only things needed are 8 people and a schedule that allows for 3 consecutive hours of play time. |
