Have you tried it dark_axis?

As for me, I'm in no budget for minis for now, though I do plan to buy some, for skirmishes or most probably for collection.

Actually, for those interested, I believe someone could teach you the new rules for DnD Minis (JB from RPGA, I believe he's Goderator's friend, though there are others).
If you'd like, they would most likely teach you. If you're a DnD player anyway, there's not much of difference regarding mechanics.

selling them for cheap, too! I plan to amass kobolds, just for the sake of having an underdog army.

weren't the commons going from Php 10.00 to 20.00?

Inneresting. I'm actually in the mood to splurge on a lot of commons for minion and monster use for tabletop, if they end up being that cheap. Plastic scrabble tiles are great because you can use dry-erase markers, but they're pretty...bland.

The new stat cards also have 4E monster stats, right?

Yeah, if you buy them straight from the box.
Or you also got it from the seller.
I actually have one lolz. Iron Defender (the metal dog). It has monster stats on the back of the stat card.

Congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone who participated in yesterday's event.

I myself had a blast even if my own ass kept getting kicked. (0 wins and 3 losses)

Being a beginner to skirmish it was an awesome experience. And even without me having my own miniatures, other players helped me out with making a warband I could use for the competition until I can get my very own, and even teaching me the ropes during the game. (thanks JB and Noel)

I personally don't have a large bank account to support large-scale collection of miniatures but being able to participate in these competitions (registration fees aren't really steep) you can STILL go home with stuff. I lost, but I felt like I still won.

Below are some photos related to the event. (someone else was supposed to be taking pictures, but I dunno :O and, oh. I do apologize if this isn't the right thread for this. I'm not quite sure where to place it. )

Events discussion could go here in announcements.

DnD minis discussion in general would still go under the Dungeons and Dragons thread.

As for minis in general, (Mage Knight, Heroclix and Warhammer), we don't have a thread for that. I don't think there's enough group interest for it here anyway. I think there's a site (tabletopwars.com?) that caters to that, but I'm not sure.

Hope that helps. Wink

On topic: Really? Freebies even on a losing streak? Now that's something worth getting into...

lol, looks like JB's plan work. Though I don't see Drizzt in his warband, that's kind of a shock. Shocked

Congratulations to all the winners and participants.

I missed it entirely only because I didn't have enough funds to actually commute to the place and pay the participation fee T_T

w00t! I just got paid! I'll post elou's next game announcement here in place of this post, in the mean time.. yay! I will get to participate the next match!

If the participation fee is still the same amount as last time, I'm willing to pay for one or two other people in this forum who is interested enough to participate on the upcoming event. Remember, even the losers in elou's events get to bring home something. Rules used are on 2.0, if you have old minis just check if they now have 2.0 converted stats and you can use them in your warband.

i'll be bugging elou for the details soon. so check back on this memo from time to time.

You can always head out early to game crab to get in touch with the veteran skirmish players, I'm sure one of them will be happy to lend you a warband to use in the game until you can get your very own.

okay it's official:

I will be paying for the participation fees for 2 people here on the boards interested in joining this sunday's skirmish event at Game Crab. (this means all you need to do is actually show up there, with minis if you have them)

it's a 200-point warband that only consists of Commons and Uncommons. Rares are out of the picture on this one. Rules of 2.0 still set. You may reach me, elou or the folks of hitpoint rpgforums and gamecrab if you need assistance with minis and stuff.

would you like to be one of the two hobbygamers I plan on sponsoring for the sunday's event? I can always ask mr. cheese or mr. hanks to lend you a warband you can use.
