WARNING: This thread may contain possible spoilers. Proceed at your own risk!

Alright, so, what do you know about Planar Chaos so far?

From what I've heard, a theory is that they'll be "timeshifting" old legends into new cards. This could mean fundamentally altering an existing card to change it up into something totally new. Best example? Akroma, Angel of Fury. Basically a red akroma. Sweet, right? Also, something about Ixidor, and Karn. Neat. Very Happy

Also, there will be Elder Dragon-related stuff, a non-white counterpart to Paladin en-Vec, and some new slivers I think. But that's all I know so far.

So, what have you guys heard? What do you think about PC? Discuss.

UPDATE 12/26/06: A few major updates. We get a peek at Intet, the Dreamer, Uktabi Drake, Keldon Brigand, etc. Some neat cards there, nothing majorly impressive thus far.

MTG Salvation's rumor mill have some cards already in their spoilers. Crovax returns in white, Jedit Ojanen gets a card with abilities, and is green. new uses of echo(low mana/higher echo cost), and suspend(with variable suspend cost). One of the multicolor dragons has been revealed as well. Monocolor split cards.

blue has a few discard spells right now, and one suspendy card-drawer. nothing really amazing though.

Blue now has discards. Not entirely new to blue though. Back in the old days, there are few blue discards, blue direct damage, even blue land destroyers. Acid rain anyone? Very Happy

hehe, yeah... blue's slice of the color pie of yore was far larger than that of the other colors. i guess that's why blue feels so toned down lately...

whee~

Well I'll just add some more rumors (either confirmed/unconfirmed) about Planar Chaos...

1) A black counterspell (BB, Counters spell unless any player pays 5 life) (COMMON!!)

2) Timeshifting Funeral Charm...in Blue!

3) Suspend spells with X on their suspend costs.

4) A White Gargoyle that has the abilities of Meddling Mage and Pithing Needle!

5) Muscle Sliver...in White.

6) A cycle of Magus based on lands.(Speculated Magus of the Coffers)

7) A Black Time Walk (BBBB, Take an extra turn after this one unless any player pays half of his life)

Cool A Red G.Growth.

9) Same colored split cards.

10) A swampwalk River Boa.

11) A land which makes all lands Swamps in addition to its land types when in play (I think it's called Tomb of Yawgmoth) (err Torment 2?)

12) A cycle of tri-color "wedge"-dragons (two ally-colors combined with an enemy color i.e. BR+W=WBR)

i knew i shoulda invested in white. meddling mage was my entire reason for choosing WUB, but the way it is now my deck would just require too much fixing.

Ball Lightning is in Green, Akroma has morph and is red, WoG is now black...

Color wheel?? Wtf is that?

Either they were smoking something really strong, indeed, or WotC is running out of ideas.

It sells, though. I like it. Twisted Evil

yeah... it makes things even more interesting, if nothing else. plus i still stand by my suspicions that WotC is aiming to bring older players back into the game.

the designers must have been smoking a lot of pot and drinking a lot of booze when they were creating this cards or they just run out of ideas. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Older players don't have to go to the type two block since if they want real power the power lies within type one, and the only thing that would cause them to go to type two is if they have noone else to play with which is impossible for the sheer number of type one players in other gaming places. actually i think WotC was shooting more for trying to get back the players who have quit playing over the years. i don't know if that has had any significant effects so far, but they will try.

When you use a control deck, it all about the synergy of the cards. Serra angel is not as strong itself, even if it quite efficient for its mana cost ages ago . But to a control deck, kill cards are always played when they can be protected. I only play the godforsaken angel if I have at least 6 available mana with lots of counters in my hand even cards with alt cost like FoWills or Misdirections. I can deal the mana cost, I like its vigilance ability, evasion, and decent power toughness. Having a blue serra angel, on the other hand, ... Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

And oh ... the greatest factor why i chose Serra Angel was it was uncommon back in the old days ... ^_^ Affordable and easy to find.

I tried Palinchron but ... after the 6th ed stacking rules, it is no longer a "free" creature. Easy to kill.

Results of Sponsorship:

Blue Braids (as in Braids, Cabal Minion)
Green Suspend X
Magus of the Scroll
Red Arrogant Wurm

that's pretty much all I can remember. Not terribly good, but not terrible, so that's okay I suppose.

i checked the spoilers and came up with a few decisions on which ones are crap rares. black has no crap rares, the closest thing to one being null profusion (black recycle) and mirri. i expect those to be at least over P100 though, so not really crappy. white has a whole load, including crovax. i dont have my copy of the spoiler, but i'll post the rest soon as i can. i have a really cool deck in mind, i'll post it in the other thread.
