Fiendish Codex II Designer Interview

By presenting the archdevils as aspects, we preserved them as great campaign ending bad-guys, but without emasculating them. Oh, and the aspect of Asmodeus has a CR 27.

The high-ranking devils rock. Being a low-ranking devil don't. eeetttt taaaakeeesss loooonggg tiiimmmeeee toooo geeeetttt prooomoooottteeeeeed, especially on Dis. You have to start as a maggot then nuperribo (?) then work your way up on becoming a generic pit fiend. GENERIC. And politics. I hate politics. There are lots of it on Hell especially on higher-ranking devils.
On the other hand, in Abyss you could spontaneously spawn as a Balor, since there is no hierarchy in Abyss. Little politics. More intimidating. |

| oh, but the idea of working my way up hells' hierarchy appeals to me. I'll just kill everybody in my way! hwahwahwahwahwa!!!! (okay maaaybe that's more CE than LE, but if i work subtly then that will do XD) |

That's CE. ^__^ If you have to work your way up, that would be really hard but at least there's lesser threat on your neck than in the Abyss. You will have a very good chance of climbing up if you have very high mental scores and above average physical stats. You should manipulate and learn to lick your superiors' fiery asses. And if there is an opportunity, grab it. And remember, devils don't tell lie. In fact, devils love the promotion of truth.
Fast and dangerous ---> abyss
Slow but "safer" ---> hell |
