What does this world have that the others don't?
Let me tell you one: The Sinagthari require blood sacrifice to provide light over material creation. That means that, as a whole, we don't get days and nights the way we would assume it to be. Sometimes the sun burns for weeks, months even, before burning out into night. Other times, entire years (in the conventional sense) pass in darkness.
I say that's very unique. Let's play around the idea to try naming the world.
And while we're at it, this also solves another problem (while creating new ones). Without an orderly Sun to guide it, time is defined in another way...
Or the concept of time is entirely foreign. How long has it been since the Godfall War? Why argue over it being 500, a thousand, or ten millenia ago? Simply put, no one knows how long it's been, because no one is keeping track.
Hmm? |

But, the sacrificial ritual needs a god for it to take effect right? So if there is no god of light, then there is no light anywhere. It will be literally a world of darkness, a place where things that go bump in the night reign supreme. Only the place where the godstone of (tentative name: Sinag) is kept has something that would equate to adequate light, which is used as a valuable commodity for trading. |

The Lightbringer declared to the Sithari that Sithar would return, but first, a price must be paid for Mortality's betrayal of the Gods. The Lightbringer calls for a great crusade against the Liberators and the Free survivors. Within days, the frenzied raiding nets a hundred captives. The Sithari bring them before the Lightbringer, and calling out the glories of Sithar Who Shall Return, the Lightbringer sacrifices the captives, pouring out their heartsfire on the Godstone.
And then...A miracle...
For the first time since the Fall of the Daystar...Fiat Lux! a ray of light pierces the darkened skies, and the Lightbringer stands at the center of it, the beatific expression on his face contrasting with blood soaking his robes and encrusted on his krisknife.

I interpret that as having the "sun" light over Creation. Not a part of it.
Revan correct me if i'm wrong, but the Sinagthari already possess the Daystar's Godstone, meaning they can generate light. However, it needs blood sacrifice to work, and that's a supply they don't get on a regular basis.
Case in point, no god does not imply no light anywhere. that's what Sinaghari's Godstone is for. |

Having no light at all at times is interesting, and needs some thinking out. I'll get back to this later tonight.
The alternative is wild sunstorms that can only be suppressed by blood sacrifice to the Heart of Fire. |

What do you mean no light? No sun? or something is blocking it? |

The sun is there. It's just not giving off light most of the time. The sacrifices to the Daystar do fuel the sun somewhat, but it doesn't go on for long.
This would mean, essentially, that we'll have a cold, post-apocalyptic world in all but the remote places where a godstone somehow sustains life.
It still begs the question of how mortals survived for 500 years, though. Unless we now go for godstones being discovered early on. If so, the problem becomes figuring out why they haven't figured out what these things are in all this time. |
