Post any questions here. This is the open thread.

Don't be afraid to post your 1st level characters. You don't need a backstory, and if you're worried about a name, we could always help you out as well.

And don't worry about the schedules as well. The important thing is to have a supply of Cracklepoop characters that you can use whenever a schedule becomes available to you.

Now since this is an episodic thing, there will be a lot of opportunities to DM as well. Just check out the supply of characters for an optimal level range, prepare a one-shot, and voila! You can call for players at the Tavern.

The first step really, though, is having a bunch of level 1 characters here. Don't hesitate to post that wizard, even if there are 3 other wizards built here already. Eventually gaming will give your wizard a personality that seperates you from the rest.

Imagine the possibilities. Next sem you could be starting in a 15th level one-shot, with a character you have toiled on for xp. Perhaps by the next academic year, someone runs a 27-30th level game that aims to kill a resurrected god. It would be awesome to have a character ready for that.

I already had one in mind. I believe oghma has one too, as we have discussed it before.
Just too lazy to actually make the character sheet and post it here. Embarassed

If it helps, I could go to UP with the PHB and a few character sheets, fill them up, and I'll upload them myself. Razz I just don't know when I'll be able to go. Maybe sometime this week, I still have pressing business with the OUR.

Character build tips

Keith Baker blog post

The basic gist that they are saying here is, with the prominence of skill challenges, skill training and skill focus are now viable feat slot choices.

Personally, in my experience DMing so far, Skill Challenge to Combat ratio is 2:3. That means, you'll be having them. A lot.

Can I make a paladin not tied to certain organization, but rather an ideal?

Change, luck, trade, travel. Guess where did I get that Very Happy

Unless of course there's another organization with that ideals in mind.
Hmm, i think i'd like to add trickery to that list.

Requesting permission to use the 'Cracklepoop' setting (or characters) in a one-shot campaign.

Sure. Bear in mind two things:
1. Recruitment is done at the Tavern.
2. They can only use characters as written. That means, in the early stages of our experiment, you're limited to DMing level 1 characters.

Check the Tavern for more details.

@BJ: The level 11 ECL for the One-Shot! were meant to be used if Cracklepoop access was denied. As it was not (hopefully), then I will start it at ECL 1.

It isn't denied, rather, it's under consideration. Do you already have a grasp of the Campaign Setting? We can PM you rough details, but if you're already familiar with it, then I'll allow it.

I'll PM you details asap. Expect them either tonight or tomorrow night.
But, for the record, yes, you may. You may proceed recruitment at the Tavern.

Hmm.. maybe I'll try my other character in mind there. Laughing

I had an idea for a rogue, but most of us are strikers, so i just built my paladin. Very Happy
Had an idea for a "pushing" fighter as well, and a kensai one. Laughing

Flavor guy mode:
A paladin's power source is divine. In Cracklepoop, therefore, his powers need to come from a godstone. Ideals are not enough. Thus, he needs an attunement to the godstone, which, more often than not, is controlled by an organization.
Alternatively, said Paladin may possess the godstone of a demi-deity of travel. It's not that big, so he pockets it or keeps it safe somewhere, while his shard (ie, Holy Symbol) is attuned to it. The gist here is, your character somehow feels the compulsion to change the stone's location every so often.

The Pharagos thread is getting crowded. We need to split the Cracklepoop threads out of here as soon as a sub-forum can be generated by Xtian. And for the love of whatever you hold sacred, come up with a name for the setting, guys!

A separate forum would be nicer, as we are dabbling a new world here.
Looks like this would be a lot of post moving.

Worse come to worst, don't forget to have back-up copies of the ones you post in here.

Will you allow the usage of the new wizard powers, the ones in the dragon article (and for those who don't have a WotC account, I've linked it in the Useful Links for DnD thread)?

@erwin: Check back tomorrow.
@Revan: I've been talking to Xtian about it, but be patient. He's employed now, after all. One of the things I want to have is a forum where all COPALS are mods, so they can help me with management and stuff.
But yes, as stated, we should wait for the goderator's move. He is the pantheon head, after all. For now we can survive in the Pharagos thread.

EDIT. erwin, I've just updated the Cast of Characters OP. Others may check it out as well.

Character Management Tip:
Make it a habit to cross-reference your player copy with the one in the Cast of Characters thread. Sometimes I add things there, and forget to add at other places.

@BJ: Hmm, board rules question:

What are we allowed to post in our character threads? Just the character sheet, or can we come up with loose backstory, images, or whatever as well? I don't want to go uber-pimping a thread of course but I would like to put a few quick notes here and there if possible.

I'm only strict with the first post; it should be the character sheet. But beyond that, you can add whatever fluff you want. Check out what b_b and bumpercar did.

a 4ed question:

Are marks universal? or are they tied to a specific class?

Example: Fighter A is engaging Enemy B. Paladin C is 4 squares away from them. It's C's turn. He uses divine challenge on B (thus marking him), then moves to flank B.
Then it's B's turn. Since he's being flanked, he tries to shift towards C's side, so that he won't be flanked. Q: Does Fighter A get to have a OA?

For reference:

erwin, while I said that this is an open questions thread, do try to keep it BT-specific. The answer is; marks are universal. But if you want to further discuss it, kindly go to DnD proper.

Your specific example is misleading, though. Fighter won't get an OA VS a marked opponent; they get a basic melee attack as an immediate interrupt (which is entirely different). Also, since the paladin marked the target, the fighter no longer has a mark on it himself.
