|
Took a break from all the fantastic stuff and slowed down to something we're more familiar with. My gaming group has considerably grown - quite proportionally with this semester's free time, I guess. Me and some other guy tagging up to GM a group of 6 players (mostly n00bs and initiates, but they're catching on).
I only recently downloaded Google Earth (after seeing an old TV/News report on it), and I've just discovered how dangerously well it meshes into a d20 Modern/Future campaign!
The program, by itself, is good for mission briefings as you can easily move around the globe, zoom in and out, stuff like that. Then, you can save a certain screenshot, open it up on Photoshop, fit a grid, and VOILA! A handy-dandy combat map!
BTW, anyone considering a d20 Modern PBP? It should be easier than D&D (minus the spells and magics), plus Vitality-Wounds can come into play so healing becomes less of an issue... _________________ A little surprising, really...

I... might. I seem to be running too many DM stuff myself, plus work on a bunch of individual/HGC projects, as well as organizing my adult life. If I find the time, i will. _________________ Nosfecatu Publishing |

Hmm...fascinating idea for d20 modern games...
As for the pbp idea, i'm interested, just need to finish off my acad workload this week. And work on other side hgc projects...and...gah...I want to give it a shot though. _________________ Words are the only bullets in truth's bandolier. And poets are the snipers.

Maybe I can also be of some help. We're currently running a d20 Future campaign that has all three futuristic elements in it: genome experimentations, space travel, and paranormal. It's like Gene Tech, Cyberscape, and Dark Matter rolled into one. Pretty far-fetched and difficult to balance, but here, nothing is taboo. Not much on mecha, though, as we find mecha combat way too long to manage (unless you have the One-Hit Mecha Kill cheat on, hehehe).
If BJ and/or Revan are up to the task, though, I'd be more than willing to play.
Oh, BTW, d20 Modern/Future games are ideal for PBPs as they do not need to be continuous. You can run scenarios in episodes (as it pretty much is in real-life) with the PCs carrying on from a previous adventure (so players don't have to create PCs from scratch everytime). That's pretty much how I run our campaign here: covert strike force for the UN Security Council being sent on various missions every now and then. Pretty much like Rainbow 6. _________________ A little surprising, really...

Fascinating...I'm thinking Ghost In The Shell at the moment. Can we replicate that level of cyborging? _________________ Words are the only bullets in truth's bandolier. And poets are the snipers.

Uhm...have you read SW Saga Ed already? I'm kinda interested in porting Saga Ed's autofire & burst fire rules to d20 modern if it's okay with you, especially since D20 Modern autofire RAW kinda sucks. _________________ Words are the only bullets in truth's bandolier. And poets are the snipers.

I've got a splatbook for a d20 adaptation of GitS. I've also got Cyberscape and Cyberpunk. If you want, we can setup the campaign background (esp. if you want to *play* in it, instead of *running* it). _________________ A little surprising, really...

Raven Shield? That's like in another lifetime already. You should see R6:Vegas. Or, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2, for that matter. _________________ A little surprising, really...

I don't want to buy new games, not until i get a job so i'm stuck with my old games that I never got the chance to play before. _________________ solbergb on sorcerers:
