Posts here for plot summary, discussions, and announcements regarding the Manila By Night: Dimaculangan and Sons's chronicle.

Case 1: Mrs. Guerrero's Husband

The (secretly paranormal) detective agency Dimaculangan and Sons's is hired to investigate the suspicions of a certain Mrs. Guerrero as to her husband's fidelity. The investigating team decides that the easiest way to confirm this is through the use of scrying magic that can be used setup any pictures required in the future. To accomplish this, the team infiltrates Mr. Guerrero's office to acquire materials for use in sympathetic magic. They find the necessary items, and also acquire a strange black stone that appears to be highly magical in nature.

Later scrying confirms that Mr. Guerrero is not quite as faithful as he should be, and appears to be at the mercies of a supernatural creature. The team still needs to provide incriminating pictures for Mrs. Guerrero's satisfaction.

Important NPCs:

Procopio Dimaculangan Jr., aka "Boss Dimax" - kinda like Charlie in Charlie's Angels, but far more irritating because he's not just a voice in a box. Thinks he's Humphrey Bogart in "The Maltese Falcon". Smells like a seedy opium den. Is very, very aware of the supernatural crap happening in Metro Manila, and is surprisingly prepared to deal with it.

Mang Igme - A bit of an all arounder. Not quite a handyman, as, well, he's really not handy. He's there when you don't want him to be. Is as good at being a receptionist as he is at being a gopher, a messenger, a secretary and a security guard - which is pretty terrible. Can enter a transcendent state of consciousness when he's supposed to be working. Is older than Boss Dimax, which is a terrifying thought.

Mrs. Aida Guerrero - a beautiful woman who's sadly past her prime, and, even sadder, is aware of it. Her money built her husband's company, and she sure as hell ain't letting him keep one cent if he is ever stupid enough to cheat on her. Smokes like a factory and drinks like a fratboy.

Bogart - Mrs. Guerrero's dutiful bodyguard-slash-driver. Extremely loyal to her. A giant with a heart of gold.

Mr. Pedro Guerrero - President of N&B Trading. Has been up to something naughty.

Dimaculangan and Sons's Security Services office - located a hollow block's throw away from Bangbang-Ali and Nepa-Q-Mart, on the 2nd and 2&1/2 floors. Above an ukay-ukay below a carinderia and boarding houses, this office has seen much, much better days. The plastic potted plants are wilting, and the dust and grime on the floor are congealing.

Mang Igme provides "reception" from his desk at the office entrance when he is awake which... isn't very often. There are old files and ancient newspapers all over the place.

However, the most important part is the lair, aka the detective's office - separated from the "reception area" by a mahogany door with runny glass. The aircon isn't working, the air is stale and stinking of cigar-smoke, and there are files in folders everywhere. You have to be very, very desperate or paid very, very well to linger in this place - which describes the clients and employees of this agency.
