I'm sure that after months or years of playing DoTA you have probably heard and memorized some of the more common/classic builds. Like Razor going for Mjolnir or something like that.

Well, I wanted to start this thread to find out some of the more unique, creative, and weird builds you can think of. Not so much that I want to steal your ideas, but that DoTA builds in my mind are becoming more and more homogenized.

So, feel free to post. (DISCLAIMER: I don't intend to post anything that has been posted before or been used before. But if you do see something that was from some obscure site, I apologize and it was probably unintentional. Very Happy)

I'll start. Well, Doom (Lucifer, not our dum) has a very standard build of going for Fury, or Arcane Ring. There are Str and Int builds for this guy, but I haven't seen an Agi version yet. So I was thinking of ASPD Doom based on the Fires ability. Basically, the objective is to get Fires 4 by level 9. Use Devour and Hand of Midas to cash in and then go for treads or mkb. Well, what do you think?

Plausible. However, doing that will make you miss out on his ONLY nuke skill, which in my opinion is a great harassing tool. And since you plan on getting MKB and Midas, that would already increase you ASPD by 60%. By getting LVL? Death instead of Scorched Earth, the maximum possible DPS ratio would be 2:1[*]. This in only for the main encounter, not counting harass from LVL? Death.

[*] = If you want to know how to compute this, let Lucy be at level 9. Take the damage from LVL? Death on a hero [assume max level, and the hero's level is a multiple of 3]. Then take the DPS of Lucy in 7 seconds [79-95 damage, average 87 damage. Normal ASPD is 1.44. ASPD with MKB and Midas is 60%. Total ASPD is 1.17]. Damage x Second / ASPD. Do the same with Scorched earth [remove LVL death damage, add the bonus ASPD, etc etc.]

Based it here.

EDIT:
I've been wanting to test out the Manta-Transformers [Manta Davion, Manta Lycan, etc] in a real game.

XD

Does the mana break apply on the splash damage?

Prolly supertotoy was thinking of older versions.

Dagon Barathrum? Your thoughts guys. And Bara build that focuses on damage rather than attack speed? Mask of Madness Bara than S&Y? Dagon-Bara?

I've tried manta-kardel in real game once and got few kills by firing squad. And yeah, dagon-kardel? Spam assasinate then zap then assasinate again if the target is still breathing. Or is it a waste of resource? I'm thinking of caster kardel builds.

Dagon not necessary for Barathrum. As for Kardel, you have to get in close to use Dagon. Always dangerous, so I'd say nay.

Damage up build on Barathrum is generally inferior to ASPD, since you really want him to connect on greater bash hits. But something with a Buriza might work... you're hitting a lot anyway, so a few of those hits are bound to be crits.

I'd still go with the basic speed build. Boots of travel and S&Y, you could never go wrong with that. Then build up for a midas just for kicks.

Just tried a balanced attackspeed-damage Barathrum. I was against 3 insane bots: abaddon (hard to kill), azwraith (also hard to kill; damn illusions), and clinx (softy but escapes by windwalk). I also have 2 easy allied bots (to reduce my starting gp, and to feed my enemy bots).

My key items were power threads, buriza, and mask of madness. Mom for 75% increase aspd and 15% movement speed which translates to increase damage. I was split on buriza and mkb (bash does not cancel greater bash right?) but I chose buriza for the crits anyway. Lifesteal is always nice for more combat stamina. Charge, activate frenzy, and it was a kill more often than not. THen I still have nether strike to hunt other heroes. Late game I bought hyperstone then continued until cuirass.

In my experience with Bara aspd build is that I was hoping for a greater bash lock so I could kill my target. S&Y's maim adds to the chance to hit lock your target. High attack speed to lock and kill. My playtest above which had balanced attack speed and damage did not rely on attack speed alone. It went from hoping for lock to straight killing. I'm so trying this in real game next time. ^__^

Suggested alternate builds for kardel? I am thinking of guinsoo's scythe of vise for him. And also orchid malevolence. Damage, attack speed, more mana, and soul burn. I'm aiming for a suppport-spammer kardel builds here.

Only on the main target, depending on what Dragon.

It always has been possible to do this trick. It's just that only a handful of people actually do know how to do it.

Also, rather than invest on pure ASPD, add damage items to Barathrum. Better to eliminate your opponent with less hits than disable the hero with more hits.

Experimental builds for Kardel almost always go wrong. He's too thin, no natural escape/disable/etc. Stay safe, stay with he usual Skadi-DPS build.

@Athanasia Kitty:
Maybe that's because of stacking tricks (you said it yourself)... Breaking the law by speed-clicking... but if you transform first then using Manta, it probably won't work.

@ Erwin
I can't always be in Dragon Form, you know.

@ Supertotoy
Actually, you do transform before using Manta, however, you click on it while you switch models. Complicated game engine stuff.. Blah.

qbf was able to pull off that earthshaker build.
and it went good XD

I'm currently trying to find a hero where dagon5 would work marvelously.
Aside from Akasha, Tinker, Strygwyr, and Voljin, which I've tried using with before.
Akasha dagon5 was the best of them Laughing
