Post thread for discussions of the UPHGC Star Wars Saga Ed. Legacy-era campaign, hereby called "Hidden Legacy" (unless anyone can think of a more creative name for this campaign). Links may contain spoilers for the Star Wars: Legacy comics.

Setting notes:
Time period:
130 ABY (After Battle of Yavin), 2 days after the fall of Coruscant to the Empire.
Major Factions: The Empire, The Galactic Alliance The New Jedi Order, The One Sith.

Background reading:
The Sith-Imperial War (127-130 ABY)
The Yuuzhan Vong War (25-30 ABY)
The Jensaarai (Force Tradition)

Events so far:
-The characters arrive on the Jedi Praxeum at Ossus for various reasons. Once there, they are caught up in the middle of the Massacre at Ossus, the closing battle of the Sith-Imperial War. With the aid of a Mandalorian and a Jedi Padawan, the characters ensure that valuable Jedi holocrons and other relics are denied to the Sith and their Imperial allies. The party boards the Mandalorian's starship, a modified YT-1200 named Null Vector, and liftoff from the Jedi Praxeum.

Notes:
-Did any of you guys get the Mando's name, etc? Nobody, right?
-If anyone else wants in, I'm accepting a max of 5 players. Current lineup is BJ, Aur Ain Soph, and Albert, with Jaykie currently no-go.
-New characters are incorporated either into the crew of the Null Vector or among the Jedi and civilians rescued from the Jedi Praxeum at Ossus.

Announcements:
-Next game is Wednesday, December 12, 9-1230 H.
-Would you guys prefer a bi-weekly game or a weekly game? This won't affect next week's game, but will affect next year's games.

My schedule won't allow that, unfortunately. Sorry for spoiling this plan... Sad coz 2x a week is really best for hack ans slashing.

Let's see, Jaykie's no go, so with you, Albert, and BJ, I can squeeze in 1-2 more players. Not a problem.

BJ: My bad, the proposal should be weekly or bimonthly.

EDIT:
-See summary post above for info on how to squeeze players in.
-We stick to the weekly thing then.

Next game is on the morning of December 19, before the Lantern Parade, with the usual meetup place being the stone tables or AS lobby.

Summary of game 2:
-Flying the Null Vector out of Ossus, the party guns their way through a patrol of old TIE/In fighters and evades a pair of Immobilizer cruisers, making a wild jump into the dead world of Katarr. As the ship exits hyperspace, a massive scream in the Force tears through the minds of all the Force-sensitives on board the ship.

Teaser bit for Game 3:

Many are stunned, knocked to the ground, or rendered unconscious by the exposure to the "Wound in the Force" (DC Galactic Lore to get more details, +5 bonus to Jedi on this check. Post here and PM if you want to make the check and see the details.). In the central hall of the Null Vector, one of the holocrons rescued from the ruins of the library of Ossus comes to life.

The image of this woman shovers above the ancient holocron. She begins to speak in a small, quiet voice, barely above a whisper.

"As I walk in the ashes of Katarr, I sense nothing. They are dead. All of them. My people, and the Jedi, all fallen to his hunger."

"My people never saw his face when he struck—but they heard his voice. When my lord spoke, every living thing on Katarr died. Even the Jedi, with all their mastery of the Force, were snuffed out, like candles in the stormwind."

"And yet somehow, I lived. I heard his voice, the deep and terrible rumble of dead rock grinding into oblivion. I heard his voice, and yet I lived. I did not know then, why I alone had survived the desolation of my race."

"I stumbled then, through the ashes, my senses blind to a world emptied of all life. It was then that he came to me, he who would become my master. He brought me to his ship, taught me of the ways of the Force, of the Jedi, and the Sith. He spoke of the blindness of my people, of the shackles that bound us unseeing to the Force."

"It was then that I realized why he had destroyed Katarr, and destroyed the Jedi. It was because he wanted my people, at last, to see." At this moment, the image removes the veil covering her face.

"He is a wound in the Force, more presence than flesh, and in his wake life dies… sacrificing itself to his hunger."

Hear the last line in audio (KotOR 2)

Disclaimer: Story bits based on KotOR 2, and Unseen, Unheard (Star Wars Tales #24). Portions of text here are taken from KotOR and the comic above and tweaked to fit the RPG. Audio is from KotOR. This is all for recreational purposes, is in no way a challenge to intellectual property, yadayada.

Hidden Legacy Recap

-The group is forced to land on Katarr after yet another malfunction. Choosing the easiest place to land, Ben, the Bothan and the Ithorian along with Corran alight from the Null Vector in search of the spare parts necessary for repairs.
-Making for the nearest cluster of abandoned ruins, they are greeted by a sniper followed by hallucinations and three dark side users. After the battle with the three dark side force users, they are confronted by Malthus Stele, an Imperial Knight.
-Seeing opportunity, the Bothan willingly gives out information and Malthus, realizing that they held the key to discrediting the Sith within the Empire, offers to aid them but only after they've helped him find an ancient artifact hidden within Katarr.
-Returning to the ship, they find that they've been commandeered by one Jedi Master Reya who imperiously orders them to help her retrieve an ancient Sith artifact that the Jedi have been guarding. Cassus is manipulated through the force and complies. The Bothan informs Malthus.
-They reach the temple but not before downing a number of Fighters. The entrance is blocked by two stormtroopers and two Sith Lords, the Trandossian and, weirdly enough, a Wookie who speaks basic.
-The Ithorian and Ben subdue the Trandossian and kills him while the Bothan deals with the stormtroopers. Losing to the Wookie Sith Lord, Master Reya orders them to retrieve the artifact, the mask of Darth Nihilus and runs. Ben runs in only to find Malthus who has already retrieved the mask. Master Reya falls and the Wookie charges the Bothan only to be killed when Corran, piloting and old Tie Fighter, glasses the side of the temple. The Ithorian dies as well, killed by friendly fire from the Tie. With the fighting over, they now move to leave Katarr behind.

Recap:

Chaos over Coruscant

Malthus Stele escorts the party to Coruscant, the galactic capital retaken by the Fel Empire. Escorted to the Imperial Palace, the Jedi refugees are to be given an audience with the Emperor, in the hopes of presenting evidence of Sith perfidy and complicity in the Massacre at Ossus.

However, en route to the throneroom, Sith and renegade Imperials ambush the party. As a general firefight erupts all over the Imperial Palace, Malthus Stele and company cut their way to the throneroom, arriving too late to engage the Sith assassins. The refugees are put to flight, barely escaping with their lives.

Commandeering an ancient museum-piece shuttle, the refugees blast their way out of the Imperial Palace to Coruscant airspace.

Next Week Preview
(parts of text adapted from Star Wars Legacy 1 for recreational purposes)

Broadwave Holonet transmission coming from the Imperial Palace:
-The hologram shows a human encased in bony Yuuzhan Vong yorik armor. He is seated on the Imperial Throne.
-"Citizens of the galaxy, I am Darth Krayt, Dark Lord of the Sith. At last, after a century of chaos, the galaxy is once more united under the aegis of the Galactic Empire.

"Emperor Roan Fel was not a man of vision. He never truly embraced the Sith-Imperial war or the idea of a unified galaxy. He went along with it as a necessity. That is not what the Empire--what the galaxy--needs."

"The galaxy writhes in chaos and disorder. It requires a strong hand, a man of vision. I am that man of vision. I am the new Emperor. Under my guidance, I will bring a new order to the galaxy."

Com transmission on military band received as you fly the Tydirium out of the Imperial Palace:
"This is Grand Admiral Morlish Veed of the Imperial Council of Moffs. I call upon all Imperial units to stand down immediately! The entire Council of Moffs unanimously throws its support behind the actions of Emperor Darth Krayt, the new Emperor of the galaxy. Alll forces loyal to the true ideals of the Empire are ordered to stand down and await further orders from Supreme Command."

"Any forces that continue to resist will be considered traitors and rebels, and they will be dealt with correspondingly."

Transmission from Malthus Stele's TIE Defender:
-"This is Imperial Knight Malthus Stele to the shuttle Tydirium, you in there Basarab? The karking Sithspawn have us outnumbered and outgunned. Loyalist forces are rallying in the airspace above the Taung Highlands where we have control over a Golan-class defense station. Loyalist ships are attempting to escape through hyperspace, but the Veed's traitors have managed to deploy Immobilizer 418's over our position. Unless we destroy those Immobilizers, there's no hope of jumping out of Coruscant. I'm taking a squadron of loyal Predators in to engage the Immobilizer. Are you in?"

Basarab replies through the comlink in his stormtrooper armor, "at your service, imperial knight. Let me persuade the pilot of the ship..."

Stele:
"Copy that, Basarab. We've got two options here. The simplest brute force approach is to lead our wing of fighters in to engage the Immobilizer. Loyalist Predators will clear a path for Scimitar bombers and my TIE Defender to begin attack runs on the cruiser. Hopefully, our torpedoes can crack the ship's shields and hull."

"Option two is more complex. We'll fire off a barrage of torpedoes in order to bring down the shields. Once the shields are down, then our troops will board the cruiser and attempt to seize control of the bridge and the gravity well generators. If we're lucky, we can bag the cruiser. If not, then we'll scupper it from within."

As Malthus relays their options, a voice cuts in--it's the pilot's.

"What about the persuasion?" he reminds Stele, giving special emphasis to the last word. "May I point out that I'm piloting a damned shuttle, which a few minutes ago was some museum centerpiece. I know it's ridiculously well armed for a shuttle but the fact remains that it's a bloody shuttle so I sure hope you're at your most persuasive today, my friend."

OOC: Succeeds. Karka thinks that it might be tough going, but certainly not suicidal. After all, you've got something like fifty TIE Predators providing covering fire for the Tydirium. But you'd better be well rewarded for this...RP accordingly.

ooc: Kind of saw that one coming. XD

Karka groaned. There really was no way out of Coruscant unless the Immobilizer was taken down and he really was in no mood to be anywhere near a Sith--how the hell can that Wookie speak basic anyway!? Life's mysteries aside, he contacts Malthus again.

"Oh what the hell--I'm in! But just so you know, I'm not about to do this for free and there's still that reward promised for our testimonies!" and then as an afterthought added, "and I think I have an idea as to how you might repay us. This ship will need a a lot of modifications--" he lets the sentence cut, knowing that Malthus would be able to pick up what he was hinting at.

After the initial outburst, Karka began the bloody work of considering their course of action. The second one, though it meant more work, was tempting--there was much they could gain if they were able to capture the ship. "Is our chances of holding the ship if we capture it any good? What about the crew? Isn't the bare minimum to run one of those things 1, 500 people? That second option is tempting but I want to know if it's even possible first."

@Karka

You can almost feel Malthus smile under his antiquated TIE pilot's helm. "We'll see what we can do about the Tydirium's loadout afterwards, Bothan. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if the Rebs put in a few modifications of their own. Check out what the ship can do while we still have time."

"As for the Immobilizer, this is where things get interesting. We've identified the ship as the Stalwart, under the command of Captain Rakar Tre'fay, a Bothan. Captain Tre'fay isn't clearly allied to either Admiral Veed or Emperor Fel, but right now, he follows orders to the letter because of the presence of Darth Ixion, a Sith. If you can eliminate the Sith, it shouldn't be too hard to "convince" Captain Tre'fay of the worthiness of our cause. That's assuming that you can take on a fully trained adept of the dark side, of course."

"Then again, we can just fire a few dozen salvos of proton torpedoes. What do you say?"

OOC: Gather Info Check on Captain Rakar: 24

"Let's not waste a good ship--let's take this thing," Karka says, grinning over something he just realized.

Recap
The party fights their way into the Stalwart and manage to overcome the deceitful manipulations of Darth Ixion. With Captain Rakar Tre'fay suitably "persuaded", the Stalwart shuts down its gravity well generators, allowing the Loyalist forces to jump out of Coruscant aerospace.

Chapter 4: Tremors in the Force

Coruscant:
"And did they have the Mask with them, Ixion?"

The man within the stormtrooper armor shook his head. "Negative, Lady Maladi. While I was leading the dupes through the gauntlet, I had the ship's stormtroopers search their shuttle. They did not find the Mask."

Across the room, Darth Maladi, commander of Sith Intelligence and Assasination, scowled. "Are you telling me that you found nothing? The fools managed to escape the Massacre at Ossus bearing a treasure trove of Jedi and Sith holocrons, and you found nothing?"

Ixion unbuckled the scorched sergeant's pauldron from his armor and tossed it aside as if he paid no heed to his superior's tirade. "They did not have the Mask, malady, but I believe I left a little surprise for the Loyalists. They will find that escaping the wrath of our lord Krayt will not be that easy. It shouldn't take too long to quash these rebels."

"Darth Sidious felt the same way regarding the Alliance to Restore the Republic. We will not repeat his mistake, Ixion."

"Hah. Point taken, Lady Maladi. Now, what is my next assignment?"

"You'll have to ignore the Loyalists for the moment, Ixion. Emperor Krayt has assigned Darth Chakath to hunt for the Mask of Darth Nihilus."

"What?! That ambulatory fur rug?! He wouldn't even know where to begin searching!"

Ixion heard a low growling behind him. He turned around and came face to face with Darth Chakath. The wookie's voice spoke in unaccented Basic, made all the more menacing by the seeming lack of emotion:

"Which is where you come in, Ixion. You are to assist in the hunt. And next time, it would be unwise to utter barbed comments when the subject of your statements stands right behind you..."

Immobilizer-418-class Stalwart
Blackmoon Naval Outpost, Core Worlds

Captain Rakar Tre'fay took comfort in the massive phrik-alloy captain's chair. He lazily thumbed the chair's controls, bringing up a holographic map of the galaxy. Large swathes of space were highlighted in red, signifying sectors that had publicly declared for the new Sith Emperor. Sectors in blue designated systems where Loyalist officials and forces held control. Purple signified contested sectors. The vast majority of the galaxy glowed a baleful bloodfire-red.

Too many Moffs are declaring for the Sith. Kark it all...We need time. We need to rally. Hell, we need an Emperor. We've lost Coruscant. If we can't get a symbol to rally behind, then Darth Krayt's already won.

One of the bridge crew disturbed the Captain's reverie. "Captain, we're receiving a broad-wave transmission over the Holonet. Sir, it's the Emperor!"

"I don't want to listen to that sithspit-"

"Emperor Fel, sir!"

That got Captain Tre'fay's attention.

Medical Bay
The crew rushed to the Holonet tranceivers, all thoughts of propriety and military discipline pushed to the side as the true Emperor made his first appearance since Darth Krayt's coup.

Inside the medical bay, the bacta tanks were left unattended. Suspended in the medical fluid were the injured Jedi Padawans Aysa Voivode, Ben Dover and Corran Skorr. Barely conscious, they floated tranquilly in the tanks. And then the presence entered the room.

Corran felt it, the palpable malevolence. He struggled to open his eyes. Through the glass of the bacta tank he saw it, the cloaked form that had stalked them throughout the surface of Katarr. The nebulous presence floated before Ben's tank. It reached into the tank, it's arm passing through the glass to touch the Jedi's face. Corran felt a powerful rumbling in his head, like the sound of dead rocks grinding away at eternity.

The apparition moved away from Ben's tank and approached Aysa's. The Force spirit reached into the tank.

Aysa! Aysa! Wake up! Damn you, don't touch her! Corran tried to telepathically stab at the Force spirit. His feeble attempts recoiled from the apparition's palpable malevolence and a wave of nausea slammed into him. The Force ghost caressed Aysa's face, it's shadowy hand sliding over her pale skin.

Basarab, Corran tried to reach out telepathically with what little strength he had left, help! The padawan feebly pounded his fists on the bacta tank.

Aysa quivered under the ghost's touch. The spirit withdrew. It considered her for a moment, before vanishing and reappearing beside Corran's tank. The Force ghost's bone-white mask pressed against the tank. The ghost had no eyes. The mask floated in the middle of a shadowy darkness. The ghost reached in and gripped Corran's arm.

Visions flooded the padawan's mind.

Somewhere in hyperspace, a man wearing jet-black stormtrooper armor sits and considers a tetrahedral holocron, its emerald light glinting of the man's armor. Elsewhere in hyperspace, a Mandalorian mercenary curses as he repairs a busted shield generator. In the under-city of Coruscant, a rust-red protocol droid stalks the darkness, its right hand is covered in gore and ends in a cluster of blades, saws, and tools. Somewhere in the Outer Rim, on the surface of a planet shrouded by a fleet of dead ships, a circle of stones stands. Within the standing stones, a shadow given form waits for the time when it can again unleash its insatiable hunger on the galaxy.

OOC: All characters who have come into close proximity of the jedi holocrons or the mask of Darth Nihilus share in this vision.

The glass shatters, and a wave of bacta floods out, throwing the three Jedi Padawans to the floor.

And now, for something totally unrelated to the campaign but hilariously legal in SWSE:

The single, cheesiest SWSE build ever...The Plug and Play Droid!

EDIT: For combat applications, the "Plug&Play Mac" variant works better than the standard "Plug&Play".

The Darkside Marauder's datapad

The vast majority of the datapad is garbled and unreadable, damaged during the fight on Katarr. Still, there are sections that the cryptography program was able to decipher.

***
...The Jedi and Sith are fools, every single one of them. The Jedi seek only to be ruled by the Force, to allow it to flow through them and become slaves to its will. The Sith, on the other hand are blinded by power. They embrace the Force but seek material power and glory. They are on the threshold of glory, and yet, mere moments from the true prize, they turn back, and content themselves with temporal rule. A true Master does not surrender to the Force, or merely use it to rule over lesser mortals. A true Master exerts his will and rules over the Force itself...
***
...The Sith title of Darth is itself, only a corruption of the ancient Rakatan darr tah[i], [i]darr meaning "triumph" or "conquest" and tah meaning "death". Darr tah. "Conquest through death", perhaps? I think not. A truer translation would be: "One who has triumphed over death." This was the grail of the true Masters of the Dark Side throughout the millenia, a grail forgotten by this new upstart Sith Order...(unintelligible text)...But there was one who achieved this true mastery. He died at the Battle of Malachor V, at the end of the great war between Revan's army and the Mandalorian Crusaders. He was consumed in the apocalyptic finale of the war. But, as Revan did, he was enlightened. And so he arose from the battlefields of Malachor, a revenant. Darth Nihilus alone truly deserved the title of Darth, for he alone had truly conquered the barriers of life and death, and the galaxy trembled in his wake. Death meant nothing to him, for he was sustained by the power of his will, and at his touch, all life died...
***
...The Jedi known only as the Exile slew Darth Nihilus over the skies of Telos. But she took the Mask of this greatest of the Dark Lords as a trophy...(unintelligible)...She gifted the Mask to the traitor, Visas Marr, who once loyally served the True Dark Lord, perhaps to as a token of her release from bondage...(unintelligible) She passed down the Mask to the new Jedi Order that arose from the ashes of the Jedi Civil War...
***
The Mask exists still. And I will find it. The ancient Sith holocrons speak of its powers, and perhaps the Jedi holocrons may yet speak of its location. I will find the Mask. And I will claim it as my own. And then I will truly be worthy of being called darr tah. One who has conquered death. And the galaxy shall tremble at my presence...

Schedule change for Wednesday (5 March 08 ):

I'm refereeing a series of interclass fencing games on Wednesday morning, so I can't make it for Star Wars in the AM.

Are you guys game in the afternoon? (I think BJ is already no go, but will see).

All right, Saga-Ed game in the morning or early afternoon? Greenhills? Galle? You guys know anywhere we can game? I wouldn't recommend my place in the morning, since we're still kinda fixing it up for the food and movie night.

AM, early PM? and where? Sound off!

Official Saga Errata

You guys might find these errata and clarifications useful. They are not yet covered by the Errata FAQ, so a lot of these may be new. Real prizes here are the "Assault" feat and the subrepeating and sniper blasters.
