Hey. We need a name for our campaign setting. The name of the campaign setting itself and the name of the world, if they are different.
Godstone is cool but it suffers from something...

To start, let us do a word association first. From what you know and your idea of Godstone post 1-3 words associated with it. You may post more than once. This is a static word association game so the words revolve around GOdstone. I will give the first word/s.

Wasted Land

That would make the world Eberron.

Why not stick with the Filipino theme? That's definitely never been done before. We don't have to look that far either, since modern day Philippines = post-apocalyptic by other countries' standards, lol.

Nope.
There's no guymelef in eberron nor gunpowder nor steams. Eberron has technology but it is not necessarily steampunk since their technology is fused with magic and not steam powered.

To make the my idea clear, I'd like only the war-related steampunk techs like maybe those giant steam powered robots or vehicles or something. Maybe steam powered railgun if you guys want gun.

Apokalipto?

I think that's a film title.

Doesn't matter. Eberron still has a very steampunk feel. We can argue and differentiate this until we're blue in the face, but to the common RPGer, steampunk = Eberron. Thus I would suggest we look elsewhere.

I disagree with boy_bakal, but I see his point. steampunk and eberron are not equal, they are rather associated with each other.

Thus if we want to add steampunk, we have to make it as Eberron-ish as we can. It's Xtian's idea, propose a feel. Then we'll see if it's worth integrating or if we'll scrap it.

You are contradicting yourself. Saying it does not matter affirm the the points I raised that Eberron is not steampunk (due to lack of elements) and later you say it is similar. And I haven't discussed my idea so don't drop it yet.

Eberron does not give steampunk feel. It just gives a feeling of combined magic and technology. Steampunk does not require magic but some literatures may include it.

Eberron is not steampunk. It has few elements of steampunk but it is not made up of steampunk.

What I am proposing is adding steampunk and not adding Eberron. To be specific, I propose war-related steampunk like war machines and weapons. If it is not designed to hurt kill maim then it's out.

Kal Dathra. Where did you get that name, Rev? I'm of the opinion that it makes a good Campaign Setting name.

Scratch that...

http://adamcadre.ac/calendar/10001.html

I know, it's one letter apart. But we're geeks. And we'll likely associate with fellow geeks. Possibly, some of them will be Comic Book geeks. Sad

*sigh* Calling it Cracklepoop is starting to get on my nerves. Guess it's working...

Like dragonball and godspell, PCs revolve around certain magic items.

Greyhawk is a name of the place, and the name forgotten realms, indirectly is about the plane.

Samurai X is named because of protagonist himura, so are the names masked rider, shaider, etc.

So let us discuss possible names for our beloved campaign setting.

How about ...

Bone Dancers
because we dance on dead gods' bones...

too much like sky dancers for comfort

something like bonefell, maybe? alternatively corpse or ash-something.

if we're sticking with the pinoy flavor, consider also modified pinoy equivalents. it doesn't have to be all pinoy but we can sneak in the words there... for example, something like Aborna. just like "abo na" (as in abo na lang ang mga diyos) except with an r in the middle Razz

Bonedancer is a MTG card and a strong one iirc.

Aborna sounds .... gay like darna! Kabwush!

Bonefell has necrotic and undead sounding theme and we are working on a wasteland. We are getting there.

Bonedancers sound like emo skydancers.
Laspag sounds like an R18 movie.
Adorna sounds like an Adarna ripoff children's book that you can buy for ten bucks on a street corner.

Bonefell has potential... Although atm, it just reminds me of Shadowfell. But I think we should work on this name. Very Happy

Been thinking of a buncha names all day, most of which I've forgotten. I think the best I could come up with is Bonethrull. Doesn't really make much sense, but it does sound kinda cool Laughing

Some pinoy words (if we're going for that effect):

*Buto. Bone. lol.
*Hukloban. She's a death goddess iirc.

Don't forget to add the steampunk side.

More pinoy words:
*Barena. tagalog of drill, if my vocabulary is right. a possible steampunk word.
*Tapyas. cut/sliced into pieces. lol
*Makinarya. machinery.

Well, then the serious answer is; the problem with Filipino mechanical words is that it sounds Spanish as well.

Although, that being said, hardcore linguists will say that pre-col words would sound Malay, too. So it's actually a touchy subject.

Other than that, I like Barena, if we can find a way to fiddle with it.

Barrena. A little too literal, but it might work.
