The march of Alazlam will be extensively using the supplement, "Weapons of Legacy". This is the thread where I'll be posting the Legacy items I design. Feel free to discuss the items here. Razz

Note. The supplement gives spell-like abilities fixed Caster levels. I am not in favor of that, so assume that the caster level is equal to your character level.

(My apologies for the completely ripoff name. But hey, Pharagos is phasing out anyway, and it has enough ripoffs that another one wouldn't hurt).

Ordo Dracul was a Steel Dragon (Dragon#339) that found great pleasure fighting in the game of the gods, using his natural shapeshifting abilities to exist as one of the inanimate pieces. While he was not one of the few who were made to ascend to godhood by Io, he is nevertheless recognized by Mandrakori Legend as the Patriarch of Clan Ordo. DC15

The Claw of Ordo Dracul
Non-legacy game statistics: +1 scythe.
Omen:The end of the scythe's blade appears to drip with blood, as if it was a recently severed body part.
Wielder Requirements: BaB+5, Must be a Mandrakor

Lore:
*(Knowledge(history) DC18) After the Mandrakori were rewarded with free will, Ordo remained with these warriors to test his skill in combat. However, he found human form severely lacking in phsical might. Thus he made a crucial decision: he severed his own right claw while in dragon form. Then, he had it preserved and crafted into the scythe that would be named the Claw of Ordo Dracul. In human form, his severed hand was replaced with an Iron Golem Arm, and he wielded the blade with a ferocity unmatched by any other Mandrakor tale. Least Ritual. Sever the Soul

*(Knowledge(history DC25) For many generations, Ordo Dracul passed the weapon down to himself, assuming a different guise each time. Eventually, however, even dragons grow old. When he finally deemed himself beyond the attention of mandrakor, he assumed Dragon form and flied off, never to be seen again. He did, however, leave his claw behind. Violence endued as Mandrakor from all over the plane coveted the mighty weapon of legend. Three champions arose from each clan, ready to claim the weapon of their own. Soon, a cunning swordsage by the name of Vaishya subdued her opponents from Ordo and Wildrunner, and Darkhope now has the mighty claw. Lesser Ritual. Challenge of the Clans

*(Knowledge(history) DC31) To be revealed.

Rituals:
*Sever the Soul. While Ordo Dracul severed his claw to create the scythe, you would settle for channeling a piece of your soul into the item. To do so, you must prepare a special mixture of incense (Cost 1500gp) and meditate with the item for 24hours. If the ritual is interrupted, you must restart, paying the components again. Feat granted: Least legacy (Claw of Ordo Dracul)
As part of severing a portion of your soul, you will suffer the following detriments:
-At 6th level, you take a -1 penalty on all attack rolls. This penalty increase to -2 at 12th level and -3 at 18th level.
-At 7th level, you take a -1 penalty on reflex saves. the penalty increases to-2 at 9th level, -3 at 15th level, and -4 at 20th level.
-At 7th, 8th, 10th, 14th, and 16th level, your hp is decreased by 2.
*Challenge of the Clans You must defeat a member of each Mandrakori Clan in an honorable duel (not necessarily to the Death). His/her CR shouldn't be lower than your ECL, and they should have proficiency with the scythe. In fact, if they covet the Claw, better.Cost: 13000gp Feat granted:Lesser Legacy (Claw of Ordo)
*Greater Ritual: to be revealed

Abilities. The Claw of Ordo Dracul is boasted as the sharpest weapon ever made. Such abilities only reveal themselves to the most legendary of wielders, though. The weapon starts out displaying Ordo's ferocity in combat, as well as showcasing his attunement to acid.
Character Level: Ability
5th: +5 competence on Intimidate checks
7th: +1 corrosive Scythe
10th: Melf's Acid Arrow at Will, standard action, as the spell.
11th: +2 corrosive scythe
13th:Resist Acid 10. Similarly protects all your equipment.
16th: +2keen, acidic burst scythe
18th: Crit range triples. doesn't stack with keen or similar (BJ's) fighter talents, nor with improved critical feat.
20th: Sharpest Claw. Crit multiplier increses to x5. Stacks with Sharper edge talent.

edit1: removed vicious and reduced modifier to +2, to make room for acidic burst.
edit2: fixed knowledge DC.

Umm, is it wise to discuss the *entire* contents of your legacy items here? I mean, it's a dead give-away that a certain someone is holding that specific legacy item. Shouldn't it be up to the PC to discover (by the empathic communications of the item itself, by some sort of historical knowledge of the item, by curious research, or even by accident) the legacy of the item?

I've used Weapons of Legacy myself, but it was for a single-player campaign (for my kid bro) so it wasn't much of an issue if the item was overpowered. I don't think I'm qualified to judge a custom item's game balance with regards to an adventuring party. Sad

I think BJ is having a dilemma like you had Pitz. Let the pc discover it and it might thrown out of the window if it is unsatisfactory.

Btw, is it possible to make my flying ship a Legacy weapon?

to those who wouldn't get the reference gets a week temp ban. i know who you are

Sower of Thunder (Legacy Weapon Bastard Sword)

An heirloom weapon of the Stormcrowned family of dragonblooded Mandrakori, Sower of Thunder was the favored weapon of Ilyana Darkhope, the first Mandrakori paramour of the bronze dragon Kyralios. (DC15)

Nonlegacy Game stats: +1 Bronze Bastard Sword (note. Bronze provides a -1 to attack and damage rolls)
Omen:TBA
Wielder Requirements: BaB+4, must have the blood ofr a bronze dragon in his veins (DM is the final judge on that)

Sowing Thunder:

Ilyana and Kyralios first met at the great siege of the forge-city of Ratharim. The bronze dragon Kyralios, an ally of the Mandrakori, led the force Clan Darkhope sent to relieve the siege. Word of the reinforcements reached the besiegers, and they launched an ambush. Harried from all sides, the dragon’s forces were being cut to ribbons. Kyralios fully expected to die in battle against the yugoloth besiegers.

Suddenly, the gates of Ratharim flew open, and a force of Mandrakori launched a counter-attack against the yugoloths, the dread commandoes taking advantage of the thundering echoes left by the wake of the dragon’s breath weapon in order to conceal their assaults. Dancing and weaving between lightning bolts, heedless of the danger, the force led by Ilyana Darkhope caught the daemon-kin by surprise, allowing the dragon and the Mandrakori mercenaries to rout their foes.

In honor of her daring, Kyralios gifted Ilyana Darkhope with the blade that would eventually become the Sower of Thunder(DC18 )

Riding the Lightning:
Kyralios and Ilyana would meet again on the assault against the githyanki astral juggernaut The Unchained Fury in one of the countless battles between the Mandrakori and the Githyanki. Using captured Gith airships, commandoes from Clan Darkhope, Ilyana among them, assaulted the mile-long juggernaut, while their draconic allies dueled against the juggernaut’s red dragon escorts. Aided by the dragons, Darkhope’s commandoes penetrated The Unchained Fury’s defences and managed to destroy it’s propulsion and levitation magics at great cost of lives.

As the Mandrakori commandoes fled to their escape ships, Ilyana Darkhope stood her ground and bought time for her companions to escape. As the last airship pulled out of the doomed juggernaut’s hangar bays, Ilyana resigned herself to death, either at the hand of The Unchained Fury’s crew or by crashing with the stricken vessel. Then, the gith before her scattered as the looming shadow of a dragon passed over Ilyana. Kyralios swooped down and rescued her from the brink of annihilation. Dragon and warrior streaked out of the falling airship moments before it hit the ground. Each had saved the other’s life in battle. The pair flew on to the drake’s lair.

Months later, Ilyana Darkhope would return to the Mandrakori throneworld with a half-dragon child, the first scion of the Stormcrowned bloodline. (DC25)

Reaping the Stormwind:
Decades later, Ilyana Storm-Crowned would meet her end in battle against the blue wyrm Gathras. Separated from each other by the tides of battle, Kyralios could only watch in horror as the ancient blue dragon consumed Ilyana in a single bite, punctuated by an enormous bellow and a searing blast of lightning that arced skyward. In a rage, the younger bronze dragon charged the blue wyrm, and though Kyralios should by all rights have been destroyed by the elder blue, still he emerged victorious, empowered by righteous wrath, and/or a desire for bloody vengeance.

When the bronze dragon cut open the blue wyrm’s throat hoping against hope that his beloved had survived, Kyralios wept at the sight of the charred remains of the Mandrakori warrior’s armor. Miraculously however, the sword Kyralios had gifted to her was pristine and untouched. He found Sower of Thunder buried to the hilt in the blue wyrm’s draconis fundamentum. Even in her dying moments, the Mandrakori had fought fiercely, and the mortal wound that the sword had inflicted was the cause of outmatched bronze dragon’s triumph.

Kyralios swore to watch over the descendants of Ilyana Storm-Crowned of Clan Darkhope, gifting this blade to those of his heirs whom he deemed worthy or those who inherited that same spark that he found in Ilyana Storm-Crowned. (DC31)

Sowing Thunder: Stand vigil for one night amidst a thunderstorm while carrying the sword.
Cost:2500gp
Feat Granted: Least Legacy (Sower of Thunder)

Riding the Lightning: Fly through a thunderstorm while mounted on a willing flying creature/ally.
Cost:13000gp
Feat Granted: Lesser Legacy (Sower of Thunder)

Reaping the Stormwind:
Stand still on the receiving end of a creature’s lightning breath attack. the creatures CR can't be lower than your current character level.
Cost: 41000gp
Feat Granted: Greater Legacy (Sower of Thunder)

Abilities: The Sower of Thunder allows you to receive the swiftness of Lightning, the Roar of thunder, and the ferocity of a Bronze Dragon's Breath. At higher levels, it allows you to call on the descendants of Kyralios for aid.

Code:

16th              -           -           2          +2 Sonic Burst Bastard Sword*
17th              -           -           -          Kyralios's Oath
18th              -           -           -           -
19th              -           -           -           -
20th              -           -4          -          +4 Sonic Burst, Shocking
                                                     Burst, Bastard Sword.*

*Due to the unique crafting method that Kyralios used in forging the Sower of Thunder, Sonic Energy is stronger when used by the Bronze Sword. Instead of 1d4, Sower of Thunder deals 1d6 sonic damage when it becomes a Sonic Weapon. Likewise, instead of 1d6, the Sower of Thunder deals an extra 1d10 Sonic Damage on a Critical hit.

Descriptions:
Shocking Grasp(Su): The first ability you gain from the Sower of Thunder is a shocking grasp effect once per day. Activating the power is a swift action, and you can deliver the effect with a touch attack or a standard attack with Sower of Thunder.
Swift as Lightning(Su): The sower of thunder allows you to move through battle with the speed of a lightning. At 8th level, choose one of your movement modes (land, swim, fly, or climb). While holding or carrying Sower of Thunder, your speed for that movement mode increases by 5ft. The bonus increases to 15ft at 12th level.
Breath Weapon(Su): The Sower of Thunder allows you to further realize your Draconic Heritage. At 10th level, you can deliver a line of lightning as a breath weapon once per day. This attack is identical to that of a Half-Bronze Dragon (line of electricity ??ft, 6d8 electricity damage, reflex DC=10+1/2racial HD+constitution modifier). If already able to deliver a line of Lightning as a breath weapon once per day from a source other than this ability, then this ability instead allows you to use your Breath Weapon once every 1d4 rounds. If already able to deliver a line of Lightning as a breath weapon every 1d4 rounds from a source other than this ability, then this ability instead gives you the Empower Breath Metabreath feat (see the Draconomicon) as a bonus feat. You must hold or carry the Sower of Thunder to use this ability.
Lightning Insight(Su): The Sower of Thunder gives you an innate sense that helps you evade danger. At 14th level, you gain a +4 insight bonus on Reflex Saves while carryin or holding the item.
Kyralios Oath(Sp): Beginning at 17th level, you can call upon the True Dragon Descendants of Kyralios their Mandrakori cousins once per day. This ability functions like the Dragon Ally spell (SC p.72), except that you can only call on a Young Adult Bronze Dragon in this manner. You must still pay the Dragon for it's services as normal, but as a spell-like ability, you don't pay any XP to use Kyralios's Oath.

**********
Edit1: Completed with Weapon abilities as Revan requested. Am contemplating; maybe I should shift Kyralios's Oath to 17th level, because that would Turn it into a Dragon Ally spell instead of a lesser Dragon Ally spell. Besides, the Oath was mentioned in the Greater Ritual (which must be performed at 17th level minimum), so it only makes sense. However, I do not have Weapons of Legacy with me at the moment, and am unsure how that will affect the other abilities. Will see tomorrow.
Edit2: Strengthened Kyralios' Oath from Lesser Dragon Ally to Dragon Ally, thereby having it bump up to a 17th level ability. Removed the Thundering property.

Well, what I did was to create a bunch of legacy items, just for the sake of it. What's great with legacy items is that you don't have to hand it to a PC right away. If at a certain point in time, you decide to award a PC with a legacy weapon, then you can shuffle through your pre-constructed legacy items, see if any of the PC's magic items match, then just grant that item the legacy status.

Example: The drow Drizzt, who is played by Salvatore, has been logging around a +1 flaming scimitar for quite a while. I, as DM, has seen it fit to award Drizzt a legacy item for his exceptional work. A look through my items and discover that I have a legacy scimitar that matches Drizzt's, the Edge of Sunset. Now, all I have to do is make Drizzt's scimitar exhibit the omens of the Edge and I'm done. If Salvatore doesn't like the legacy powers, then too bad. Moving on...

I understand if it's heartbreaking when a player scraps your legacy design, that's why I designed a whole bunch just for fun. It helps if you design one to fit the specific PC's needs. Just take a peek at his favorite magic items and turn that into a legacy weapon.

And yes, I believe a ship can be a legacy weapon (in the D&D context). It won't actually be a legacy weapon - it's actually a legacy item. Besides, IIRC, the Weatherlight just carried the actual weapon, and is not the weapon in itself. Or is my mind just foggy? Confused

Nah, the ship really was "the" Legacy weapon, with the components of the Legacy completing the ship's "main gun" so to speak.

As for Sower of Thunder, was interested in making a more badass weapon, numerical plusses? +5 shocking and screaming burst? Very Happy

There are other ways to get to +5. But yeah, I could do that. Will edit in a while...

@Pitz-Ikko: Yeah, it's a lot better if I had a lot of weapons designed. Right now, though, I do not have enough free time to create that many legacy items, complete with backstory. :/

I'd like to help, but I don't have an inkling of your storylines. (Hmm, "inkling"...now that's a big word! Laughing)

Plagueblade (under construction)

A symbol of it’s original owner’s shame, the longsword that would eventually be known as the Blade of Plague once belonged to an Elenian noble who sought to avenge an empty cause. He was ultimately damned for his selfish conquest, and as a Death Knight is better known as one of Alazlam’s horsemen. (Knowledge (History) DC15)

Non-legacy Game statistics: Baatorian Green Steel Longsword (cf. FC2 p.99)
Omen: For the briefest of moments, a swarm of locusts could be heard whenever the Blade of Plague is unsheathed.

Hectuvio was always an unlucky little boy. He tripped over himself often, he accidentally steps on horse crap at least once a week, and there was even some rumor of him once falling down a swamp filled with locusts. Made fun of by even his own family, he grew up spiteful of everyone around him. He vowed to one day deliver unluck to those who dared laugh at him. Sensing the great hate developing in the boy, the infernal powers that be crafted this sword, with the intent of tempting the noble to use it for evil ends. (Knowledge (history) DC 18 )

Least Legacy Ritual (Sympathize with Fate): The first step of unlocking the blade’s powers involves sympathizing with Hectuvio’s painful memories. You prepare incense costing 2500gp, and spend 8hours in meditation, telling the blade that had you been there to see, you would not laugh at Hectuvio. You then proceed to crush a locust with your bare hands, telling yourself that that same unluck will not befall the wielders of this blade again. Feat granted: Least Legacy (Plagueblade)

Code:

Character  Attack      Caster Level  Spell Slot  Ability
Level      Penalty      Penalty          Loss
5th        -                 -            -      +1 Longsword
6th        -                 -1           -      -
7th        -                 -           1st     Inflict Moderate 1/day
8th        -                 -            -      -
9th        -1                -            -      -
10th       -                 -            -      Hexblade's Curse 1/day

Inflict Moderate 1/day (Sp): Once per day as a swift action, you can imbue Plagueblade with negative energy. The next opponent struck by Plagueblade is affected by an Inflict Moderate Wounds Spell in addition to the weapon damage. Will save DC 13 or 12+cha, whchever is higher, for half damage.

Hexblade's Curse 1/day (Su): As a free action, you can unleash a curse upon your foe using Plagueblade once per day. The target must be visible to you and must be within 60 ft. The target of a hexblade's curse takes a -2 penalty on attacks, saves, ability checks, skill checks, and weapon damage rolls for 1 hour thereafter. A successful Will Save (DC10+half your character level+Cha modifier) negates the effect.
If you are already a Hexblade, instead treat your effective Hexblade level as four levels higher for the purposes of determining the strength and number of uses of Hexblade curse. Use the save DC computation above.

(After performing the least ritual, the next Lore and Ritual will be unlocked with a DC25 Knowledge (history) check)

Hectuvio has avenged his shame; however, he has done so at a great price. With no one left around him, he degenerated into an apathetic existence.

Then the infernal powers came in spades. Wave after wave they came, trying to slay the loner. But the devils made the mistake of crafting such a strong sword for him; they could not slay Hectuvio.

Then it came. A paeliryon appeared, and demanded his death, for he has apparently signed over his soul to Baalzebul. "The fiends try to kill me because they helped me kill everyone around me?" He asked. And when the Paeliryon nodded, he realized that this was his destiny. To slay the paeliryon was futile; others would come in her place. thus, Hectuvio said, "Thanks to you, I have succeeded in my vengeful quest. My soul belongs to Baalzebul, I shall serve him to eternity!"

With that, he slew himself with plagueblade. So great was his devotion that, instead of manifesting as a lemure, his soul, bound to baalzebul, continued to animate his rotting body.

Plague was born.

Lesser Legacy Ritual (Blood Oath): You must deliver a coup-de-grace attack to yourself using the Plagueblade (take double damage, then make a fortitude save DC=10+damage taken to survive), swearing your soul to some higher power. Needless to say, you have to survive the Blood Oath. Cost: 12500gp Feat Granted. Lesser Legacy (Plagueblade)

Code:

Character  Attack      Caster Level  Spell Slot  Ability
Level      Penalty      Penalty          Loss
11th       -                 -            2nd    +2 Longsword
12th       -                 -2           -      -
13th       -2                -            3rd    Constant Swarm of Locusts
14th       -                 -            -      -
15th       -                 -            -      -
16th       -                 -            4th    +2 Acidic Burst long Sword

Constant Swarm of Locusts (Su): At will as a swift action, the wielder of Plagueblade can cause the sword to bring forth a swarm of locusts. The swarm follows the rules for a locust swarm (MM239), except as follows: The swarm are contained in a 5ft radius around the wielder of plagueblade, the save DC for the Distraction ability is 10+1/2 character level+cha, and if destroyed, the wielder can call it forth again as a swift action.

The next ritual can be unlocked with a successful DC30 Knowledge (history) check.

The DeathBlade

She could not remember her life, no matter how much she tries. All she remembers is the sorrow her cold, intangible form imprisoned in Dis. For eternities she seemed to wander, trying to reach for life from the few mortals that do wander the urbane hell. The torture is unbearable; and yet with each passing moment, she tries to remember the life that has long disappeared.

Was she indeed a Necromancer, as her hazy recollections remember? Surely she was aware of her undeath, and surely she understands certain details regarding her condition, but still...

What if it were all a dream, an illusion of what was, all to fuel her despair? (DC 15)

The spectre now fondly remembers who she was, and how it came to pass that she recalled that long-ended life. It was like any other day in the urbane hell when she noticed a cloaked figure walking past her, with no diabolic retinue whatsoever. Drawn by the prospect of touching life, the haunt slowly slid toward the human. As silent as she could have been, however, the spectre couldn't help but wail in agony as she closed in. And thus the cloaked figure turned, and it was, like her, undead.

Or indeed, it was Death itself. The spectre drew away, but swift Death held her untouchable form with her skeletal hand.

And thus she remembered it all, how her society made a deal with the Devil, how it filled them with power, how the whole city was taken by Dispater, and how it's inhabitants now roam as spectres in hell. She looked at the iron statue of Lord Dispater as the cloaked figure glided deeper into the city. The statue, in turn, returned her gaze with a cold, calculating look...

And her purpose had been realized. (DC 18. Least Ritual: Caress the Dying. Feat Granted: Least Legacy (DeathBlade))

Since that event, the now conscious spectre referred to herself as Death's Aspect, and she longed to serve Dispater, whom she fell in love with. She was dismayed, however, when it became clear that Dis's spectres were the lowest of the low in the urbane hell's caste. As such, Death's Aspect attempted to learn how to possess other bodies, and masquerade as them in service to her love. Surely, her memories as a necromancer told her that the intangible undead could indeed use this ability.

It proved to be more difficult than what she had first thought. The denizens of the urbane hell resisted her and punished her, sometimes even destroying her form, for the audacity of her attempt. Tied to Dis, however, she simply rejuvenated a few days later, more determined than ever to complete her feat.

Her first successful victim was a dwarf merchant called Olaf the sheep-eater. Finally she experienced life, but she was not satisfied. She longed for more. Soon she possessed devils, simple ones like imps first, but progressing further until at last, she possessed an erinyes.

Thus she was now in a position to serve Dispater. (DC 25. Lesser Ritual: Death's Masquerade. Feat Granted: Lesser Legacy (Death Blade))

Death's Aspect may have got more than what she bargained for; she had a glaring suspicion that her baatezu superiors know her for what she truly was, even though they made no move against her. As such, she simply made certain that she performed her duties to her master to the best of her ability.

The real test came, however, when she was tasked to act as a diplomat to the eighth hell. As a Dis specter, she was bound to the urbane hell and could not leave. She will finally be exposed for who she truly was.

Desperate, she combed the arcane libraries of Dis for a solution. With each musty tome her despair widened, and she had a feeling that the great cold iron statue of her love inside the library stared at her.

Then, a stroke of insight. She used her limited fire magics, melted a portion of the iron statue, and fashioned it into a dagger, and marked her soul upon the object. With the little piece of metallic Dis by her side, she hoped to leave the urbane hell and perform Dispater's wishes.

The statue nodded in approval. She was now Death Metal, emissary of Dis. (DC31. Greater Ritual: Bind the Soul. Feat Granted: Greater Legacy (Death Blade))

Epic Rituals: Each Epic Ritual requires you to defeat an undead creature with your own capabilities, and the Undead's CR must be at least as high as your ECL. Then, at any level divisible by 3 (21, 24, etc), take the Epic Legacy feat and pay the ritual cost as an offering to the cosmic entity known as Death.

Death Blade

Nonlegacy Game statistics: +1 Cold Iron Dagger (Market Price 4304gp)
Wielder Prerequisites: Caster Level 5th, must have at least one necromancy spell in his spell list, must be nongood.
Omen: Whenever Death Blade is drawn, a wailing spectre comes out and spins around the wielder for 1 round (The specter provides him/her with partial concealment)

Rituals:
*Caress the Dying: You must touch a dying creature (usually just a small animal, but any living creature will do) as you perform this ritual. Then you must ensure that the creature survives afterwards. Cost: 3500gp Feat Granted: Least Legacy (Death Blade)
*Death's Masquerade: You must disguise yourself as someone else for one day (for the purposes of this ritual, using Magic Jar to possess someone is considered disguising). The ritual fails if you are discovered, and the ritual cost will be lost. Cost: 13500gp. Feat Granted: Lesser Legacy (Death Blade)
*Bind the Soul: The ritual emulates the process of creating a Lich Phylactery (DF version). You need not have the requisite Item Creation Feats, and you automatically pass the associated skill checks, but the process turns you evil as normal. You need only pay the legacy ritual cost. Cost: 43000gp. Feat Granted: Greater Legacy (Death Blade)
*Epic Ritual: Each epic ritual requires you to defeat an undead creature whose CR is at least equal to your ECL. Successfully controlling the undead creature counts as defeating it for the purpose of this ritual. You must offer the cost to the Death Cosmic, so she'll grant you the associated power. Cost: Variable (see individual ability description). Feat Qualified: Epic Legacy (Death Blade)

Legacy Abilities (remember, as per BJ's houserule, legacy items and all their abilities have CL=wielder's Character Level):
*Guarded by Death (Su)- While wielding the Death Blade, you gain a resistance bonus to all saving throws equal to the number indicated on the table above.
*Spectral Servant (Su)- You enjoy the continual benefit of an Unseen Servant, as the spell. If dissipated by 6 or more points of damage from an area attack, or if it ceases to exist by moving beyond close range, the spectre reforms one round later in a square adjacent to you.
*Death's Ear (Su)- You understand all languages whilst the Death Blade is in your grasp, as if affected by a Comprehend Languages spell.
*Death's Cunning (Su)- Death is never surprised. While wielding the Death Blade, you are never caught flat-footed.
*Taken by Death (Ex)- This ability turns you into a neonate lich. You do not gain any extra level adjustment, and Death Blade is considered as your phylactery.
If already a lich when this ability is taken, you instead automatically increase your rank by one (from neonate to alumnus, for example). In this case, both your original phylactery and the Deathblade must be destroyed before you can be permanently destroyed yourself.
If someone other than you performs a legacy ritual with the Death Blade, the DeathBlade ceases to act as your phylactery. Needless to say, this will have potentially deadly repercussions.
Epic Abilities:
*Swift Death- You can quicken any spell of up to 9th level without adjusting the spell slot. This ability is useable 9 times per day. Cost: 150000gp.
