Ok this is for those who will be joining my BESM d20 campaign this coming sem. the rules will be applied as a replacement or in addition to the standard D&D, d20 Modern Rules:
1. Strength and Dexterity will not be added to your attack roles
2. the following Combat Skills will be added to your attack roll:
a. melee
b. unarmed
c. ranged
d. firearms
3. the following defensive skills will be added to your AC:
a. Melee
b. Ranged
4. consult me before finalizing your characters
5. a back story is required
6. this will be RP heavy (but not RP based)
Schedule will be posted by Nov. 20.

The following is the accepted history of the United Systems (US)
In the year 2344, scientist in Antartica discovered a gigantic alien entity. As far as they could tell it was no longer "functional". Efforts to study the creature was hampered due to an energy field that surrounded the body. No technique or approach they used was able to penetrate the energy field. They eventually discovered that the 50-foot long spearlike object found with the creature was able to neutralize the field. It is not know exactly what happened but a massive burst of energy destroyed the Antartic research facility and sent several hundred tons of fresh water into the oceans. The sudden global tsunami/s that ensued killed roughly 5% of the global population and the mini-ice age that ensued killed another 25% of the population.
After 12 years the global situation has almost returned to pre-incident state save for the loss of coastlines around the world. What ensued next was 8 years of near constant attacks from mysterious alien entities whose genetic make up was very similar to the one found in Antartica. An organization of military and civilian personnels, whose name has been lost to history, was created to combat this alien threat. In the course of what have since been dub "The Angelic Wars" magic was discovered and was integrated with advanced technologies.
In the year 2356 the UN declared that the Earth was lost and decided to evacuate the entire global population to a new batch of systems that have been terraformed. The projected plan was supposed to take place over the span of 20 years but roughly 13 years into the evacuation the sun suddenly went super nova. This resulted in the loss of roughly 38% of the global population.
In the ensuing years, most of the systems developed independent of each other resulting. The most developed systems basked in the glory of highly advanced technology and spectacular sorcery while the least developed ones languished in poverty. Several of the developed systems came together and formed the United Systems Alliance(USA). Many systems answered their call for unity and those few who did not were made to join. For 3 years "The Sphere Wars" took place all across the inhabited systems. Finally on August 27, 2699, the last of the independent systems surrendered unconditionally. The 8 most powerful systems comprised the parliamentary leadership of the USA aka The Inner Sphere.

As long as it not sentai yes, and as previously stated you must be able to explain why you are or you have a giant robot

Notable Locations:
Corsica: the seat of power of the Alliance and the most prosperous planet of the Godwin System. The representatives of the systems that make up the Inner Sphere reside and govern all 49 systems under the Alliance. The Alliance Parliament, comprised of representatives from the other systems, is also based here.
Persephone: a moon of the largest gas giant in the Deva system. The unofficial center of trade in the Alliance, its larger cities are very prosperous, but everywhere else is mostly desert. Although a multitude of legal trade happens here, its black markets pull in make up most of its finances. It is said that there isn't anything you can't get in Persephone

Where do the guild thingys come in? You said dynamic sorcerers were in guilds..
Lol. I can probably make a good back story but I have no idea on how to make a character.

the magic in the Alliance controlled systems is highly regulated. Most Dynamic sorcerers are usually registered under either the Order of the Nine Magi, Federated Casters Guild, or the Military.

Important terms:
Black Rock - a terrestrial world that would not take to being terraformed
Signo - processed space ship fuel
Freelancer - anybody who works for anyone, one step better than a mercenary
Additional Worlds:
Fu - The largest terrestrial planet in the Kumo system, it is unique for being the only Alliance world that was inhabited with no terraforming. Mainly populated by people of Chinese, Korean, and/or Japanese descent, this world is famous for being the hub for all the martial arts of Old Earth. In recent decades, the monks of the four temples have developed new forms of fighting involving fire, water, air, and earth.
