it's cool. generally bots are against the user license agreement, but people use them a lot anyway (and as of late are not penalized for it either). since this is a mostly informal and unofficial forum, we could certainly allow it.

About topup: boy_bakal asked be about where to find 500 pesos ragnarok load. Mylevelup has bypassed the need to buy an actual 500 peso topup card, you can just buy 5 pieces of 100 and then load it up to mylevelup then topup 500 pesos worth.

..or they're just testing what would happen if everyone had a ghostring card.. hmmmm..

But really, GMing a game is really, really difficult... In-game economic dynamics and politics are frighteningly similar to what happens in real life. Especially when there is real cash involved with these supposedly "rare" items..

The picture shows a very rare and powerful item that only drops from a miniboss at a 0.01% success rating. The evil thing here is that through item duplication, the character amassed 5000+ of the said item and destroyed the whole economy of the server.

They've invested much, and right now, they're also trying to absorb games into their roster...
Ragnarok is OK back then, but IMO, the problem with most MMORPGs is flexibility. MMORPGs are supposedly endless. And to keep players interested in playing the game, they have to cram various stuff into it. Ragnarok, for example, has to add the feature of making you go back to one to be able to access more powerful classes, had to add maps that have more and more powerful monsters (which is insane) and had to level-up to insane levels (level 999, anyone?), all to keep their old market playing. Now, those "old" MMORPGS still in existence are a clutter. And there's the sad fact that engines do phase out... so all these new games with better graphics and gameplay trump Ragnarok.

Why do I play MMORPGs?
When the MMORPG was young, and the population of Midgard was few (and a lot of bugs were still in existence, I was one of the first ten characters in the Chaos server). I want to enjoy being an adventurer in a fantasy world, along with all other human players. To compete, to see if my build is stronger than others. We killed Porings on a few maps, and the world was wide... We're impressed with the abilities of our characters. We set out to make the ultra-unique character: the strongest character ever.
When we were in our mid-levels (when it was all 99), other characters came, and PvP came into play.
Characters and character builds became popular (some more than others, depends really on the "angas" factor), because everyone wants to be the strongest player, ever. The act of playing has a lesser role now, and people are more concerned about levelling-up (have to be level 999 to be the strongest). Bots of course became popular, as the laws of mathematics took over. We actually became "mature" players, and learned to perfect the art of kill-stealing, looting, and scamming. It was all survival of the fittest.

That's COOL! So you have played the Beta Server!
I heard that before Ragnarok has cheat codes and secret places/items/doors stuff like that.. was the rumor true?

Urban legends and all that, but there are really stuff that are just there but no one really knows the answer to why it's there. Like the portal near the weapon upgrade shop in Morroc, you can't enter it and it kind of leads no where.

there were actually shortcuts (portals to other cities and random maps)and bugs... but cheats? If you consider being able to hit somebody 20 tiles away with a melee weapon a cheat, or being able to sell a certain drop for 1,000,000z, then maybe there are some... But it was really more about debugging than cheating...
