There are two playable races in Starcraft: Terran and Protoss.
*Zerg are tempting, very tempting to fix into a playable race. However, their abilities to evolve selectively just make them a poor PC choice, for balance issues.

Terran
Terran traits:
*Skillful: Terrans receive one bonus skill point per level (4bonus points at 1st level)
*Bonus feat at 1st level.

**********

EDIT Log:
020508: Large sized Terran title

Zerg

The zerg is an aberration subtype.
Zerg traits:
*Resist acid 10
*Brood Mind (Ex): Zerg are aware of the exact location of any other zerg of the same brood (a broodmate) within 50ft. It senses what a broodmate within it's Brood Mind senses (including olfactory and visual senses).
*Fast healing equal to one third of it's racial hit dice (rounded down) -zerg heal very quickly.

**********

Notes:
*Regarding the ability to exist unfettered in space: I am still unsure whether to give this ability to the zerg subtype, or just to the fliers. I am inclined towards the former.
*Brood Mind: I think this should make the zerg harder to fool with hallucinations (a psionic power).
*Regarding Fast Healing- As opposed to using the Con modifier. Reasoning is game balance; a lot of individual zerg I design will have decent constitution scores. Otoh, I'm thinking of a feat that allows a zerg to add his con modifier to the fast healing value.
*Regarding the playability of the zerg as a PC class- sticking to no, so far. Attempts to the contrary have led us to deviate far from standard Starcraft Cosmology. At the very least, the Infested template (to follow) might be playable at a hafty LA adjustment.

As always, please react in the discussions thread.

EDIT Log:
020508: Large-sized Zerg name.

Something special for post #1000.

The Protoss (by Xtian, shields by BJ)
*+4 str, +4 dex, +2 con, +2 int, -2 cha. Protoss are strong, agile and healthy but they are stubborn, close-minded, and conservative.
*Speed: 40 feet. They have digitigrade legs that make them move faster.
*Size: Medium. Protoss are over 3 meters tall, but they function more as a medium creature as they have narrow frame.
*Naturally Psionic: Has 2 bonus power points per day. He may not actually use these points unless he has levels in a psionic class.
*Telepathy 100 ft.
*Plasma Shields (Su): The protoss can generate forcefields to protect themselves from harm. By expending his psionic focus, a protoss character gains shield points equal to twice his HD for 24 hours. You can activate this ability only once per day.
While activated, damage taken by the character are subtracted from his shield point count instead. Any excess damage are computed normally; the damage taken equals the rolled damage minus the absorbed damage.
Protoss may regain shield points equal to his charisma modifier by expending his psionic focus, to a maximum number of shield points equal to twice his Hit Die.
*Superior Low-light vision (Ex): Protoss can see four times as far as a human in starlight, moonlight, torchlight, and similar conditions of low illumination
*Immunity to sleep.
*+2 Natural Armor. A Protoss' skin is tough as they are adapted to different conditions and dangers of space.
Level Adjustment: +2

**********

Notes.
*Currently, I'm having them behave as elves. 4 hours of meditation required, otherwise hit points, power points, shield points can't regenerate normally. (Shield isn't hit that badly; he could just expend and re-expend his psi focus, given enough time).
*Subject to change of course. Will playtest this version and see how it goes.
*The Dark Templar is currently a Protoss sub-race. Will start designing them soon.

**********

EDIT Log:
020508: Changed shield computation from HDxcha modifier to 2xHD]
020508b: Edited wording
