Disclaimer:Starcraft d20 is a project of the UP HobbyGamers Circle, enthusiasts of both RTS and pen and paper RPG's, to simulate the popular Blizzard game unofficially using the d20 system. This project is meant for the use of the hobbygamers Circle exclusively, and the organization reiterates that they have no financial gains whatsoever in the discussion/creation of this campaign setting.
Starcraft and all related elements are the property of Blizzard™ Entertainment.
The d20 system is based on the Dungeons and Dragons game, property of Wizards of the Coast™.
**********
Starcraft d20 will be using the d20 modern rules, with various adjustments. Most notable will be the overhaul of the Psionics system presented in that book. For psionics, we will be referring to the Expanded Psionics handbook. |

Power level breakdown:
*As in most d20 games, a nonheroic will not exceed 10th level: Beyond that the character is superheroic.
*The Zerg Zergling is currently estimated as high-end CR1 (or low-end CR2)
*A Terran Marine is currently estimated as CR5 (four class levels plus 1 for marine armor, assault rifle).
*The current estimated earliest level to enter the Terran Ghost Prestige Class is Level8
*The current estimated earliest level to enter the Protoss Zealot Advanced Class is Level4.
*The current estimated earliest level to enter the High Templar Prestige Class (disregarding Protoss LA) is Level8
*Jim Raynor (End of BroodWar) is currently estimated to be CR12
*Infested Kerrigan (End of BroodWar) is currently estimated to be CR20
*Zeratul (End of BroodWar) is currently estimated to be CR23-25
*Executor Artanis (End of BroodWar) is currently estimated to be CR9
*A Zerg Cerebrate is currently estimated to be CR20
*The Zerg Overmind (pre-BroodWar)is currently estimated to be CR35.
Hopefully I make a lot of progress by the end of February.

EDIT LOG
01/29/08: Declared the Protoss High Templar and Terran Ghost as Prestige Classes instead of an Advanced Classes. |

Regarding Advanced Classes and Prestige Classes:
As normal for d20 Modern Games, Advanced Classes are designed to be available for multiclassing by 4th level. Advanced Classes represent a degree of specialization toward a certain field, though the classes are by no means specific as of yet. (For example, a psion could either be a Khalai warrior aspiring high templar status, or a Terran on the run from the control-freak Confederate Covert Ops program)
Due to the high-powered nature of my homebrew Starcraft d20, Prestige Classes are mostly designed to scale ten levels, and are available for multiclassing by level 8 at the earliest. Why the change? While the d20 modern is the best engine to host the Starcraft Universe, I am aiming for a power level similar to (though still a notch below) most high-fantasy DnD games. Under this system, a well-built 18th level character will be able to manifest 8th level powers.
Is something an Advanced Class or a Prestige Class?
*If it has access to features that are not available to members of the base classes, yet are not yet as specific as desired, then it is an Advanced Class
*As a general rule, classes that have a racial requirement are Prestige Classes (excemption: The Protoss Zealot is a variation of the Psychic Warrior Advanced Class; it has even less access to psionic powers than do PsyWarriors, but they have special two-weapon fighting benefits plus Zeal, a supernatural ability specific to this class). |

Regarding Ordinaries:
*They use the non-elite array if they have levels in a class. Zerg advanced strains (ie, Hunter Killers, Devouring Ones, etc) instead use elite array; these creatures are the closest zerg analogs to a hero, next to sentient infeted, the cerebrates, and the Overmind.
*Unlike what is assumed in D20 Modern, ordinaries can take levels in an Advanced Class, provided they meet the pre-requisites. While they still do not gain class features from the base classes, they do gain Advanced Class Features.
*As what was mentioned before, nonheroics as a personal rule will not go beyond 10 class levels.
EDIT log:
1/31/08: Changed nonheroic back to ordinary.
1/31/08: Returned inability to take base class features.
1/31/08: Allowed ordinaries to take levels in an advanced class, complete with class features. |
