The Fallen Kingdoms are a cluster of nations rendered defunct by the Gith Incursion and the subsequent aftermath. Once major military and political powers in their own right, the Fallen Kingdoms are now little more then memories kept alive by their refugee populations. Rumors abound that many of these remnant forces plan to overthrow their oppressors, but so far, these plans have come to naught.

Flavor:
Siria & Elenia: England
Bartonia: Germanic
Theira: Scot/Norse

Siria
The Kingdom of Siria was once a paragon of chivalric virtue, a small, peaceful, and just kingdom defended by a warrior nobility dedicated to knightly codes of honor and justice (The first chapter of the Knights of the Silver Dragon was founded in Siria by the Dragon Wynnefalshon). Located on the foothills of the Barrier Peaks, Siria was the bulwark that protected the Alliance lands from orc invasions launched from the Great Wastes to the east.

Vlaakith saw the Sirian nation both as threat and an opportunity at the start of the Gith Incursion. The Knightly Orders of Siria would have been a rallying point for any resistance to the Githyanki advance throughout Pharagos, but at the same time, the concentration of so many heroes, leaders, nobles, and royals in so compact a territory also made them a tempting target. She gave orders for the assassins to take special attention to the Sirians. As a result, the Night of Bloody Knives took its greatest toll on the Sirian leadership. The commanders of nearly every Knightly Order were killed, as well as the entire royal family and the majority of Sirian aristocracy. At the same time, the gates first opened upon Tol Siria, the capital, flooding the land with wave after wave of Gith shocktroopers and occupation forces.

General Fashtar of the Gith forces would lead the opening offensives of the Sirian front, and would receive as his reward the title of King of the newborn K'rra'Gith'farak, the Kingdom of Gith on Solid Ground. Fashtar's offensives were so effective that Siria collapsed within days of the Night of Bloody Knives. Since then, the Gith have held a stranglehold on Siria and neighboring Bartonia, ruthlessly crushing all local resistance. Fashtar's death at the hands of the Heroes of the War has resulted in a time of turmoil within the old kingdoms of Siria and Bartonia as the local Gith commanders struggle with one another to prove themselves worthy of the mantle of King of K'rra'Gith'Farak and renew the offensive against the natives of Pharagos.

Bartonia
The second of the Fallen Kingdoms, Bartonia was once Overkingdom of Eastern Pharagos, holding influence on Siria, Elenia, and Theira. Internal strife caused the collapse of Bartonia's power, and it was also internal strife that Vlaakith exploited in order to conquer Bartonia. Gith agents conducted many sabotage and espionage operations within Bartonia, each agent convincing the local lord that they alone had the hidden support of the Gith in their attempts to seize the throne of Bartonia, exacerbating the perrenial civil conflicts within Bartonia.

Once Bartonia had fallen, it was incorporated within the Gith territory of K'rra'Gith'farak.

To follow: Elenia and Theira.

Theira
Once the most troublesome and rebellious provinces of the ancient overkingdom of Bartonia, the Theirans have always been among the most rough and tumble societies of the Eastern Pharagos (OOC: the medieval Europe-themed areas). Theiran society is clan based, rather than along the more obviously feudal lines of Bartonia, Siria, and Elenia. Power is held by the mightiest within a particular clan. Leadership is very flexible within family lines.

Located in the hill and mountain countries to the north of Siria, Theirans have developed a ruggedly individualistic streak of self-reliance and meritocracy. Beset on all sides by the giant races of the hills, the orcs of the Great Waste, and their rapacious neighbors to the south, the Theirans learned to become skilled woodsmen, horsemen, and ambushers, with many infamous adventurers and monster hunters having their origins among these rough and ready peoples. Stalwart Theirans were among the backbone of the Alliance force that eventually pushed back the Mandrakori Crusade.

The Gith Incursion was nowhere near as devastating on the Theirans as on the other Remnant nations due to the Theirans relatively decentralized clan leadership. The Night of Bloody Knives claimed the lives of the newly proclaimed "Chief-of-Chiefs", but many of the warlords and chieftains never even attended the coronation ceremony that was the target of the Gith assassins. Each clan retreated to its hilltop redoubts, and even when those were assaulted with airships and dragons, the Theirans persevered, abandoning what could not be held and living off the land where necessary.

At this time, many Theiran clans came into contact with the Mandrakori who decided to side with the Alliance against the Gith. Out of this strange partnership of former enemies, a pact was formed between the Theiran Remnant and the Mandrakori Clans. Joined together and acting as a single force, the Theirans and their Mandrakori allies are poised for the moment when they can have their revenge on the Gith Invaders.

FLAVOR: Scandinavian, Scot , Russian (Norse and Celt Mythos with possibly a bit of Eastern European flavor thrown in.)

Elenia to follow!
