As you may already know, I am a self confessed Super Sentai fan(that's with an S and not an H). There is always the confusion between Super Sentai and Power Rangers since 1993, when Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers came out and every year since. I would like to dedicate this thread to the Super Sentai Series, complete with a wikipedia overview of the Sentai in the post and it's opening and ending video.
Let us begin with the grandpappy of all Super Sentai
Himitsu Sentai Goranger
Himitsu Sentai Goranger (秘密戦隊ゴレンジャー, Himitsu Sentai Gorenjā), translated into English as Secret Squadron FiveRanger, is a Japanese tokusatsu superhero television series. Goranger was the first in the long-running Super Sentai series of tokusatsu programmes. Himitsu Sentai Goranger was created by Shotaro Ishinomori, and was broadcast on NET from April 5, 1975 to March 26, 1977, with a total of 84 episodes.
Storyline
Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.
When world peace is threatened by the emergence of an international secret society of evil called the “Kuro Juujigun” (Black Cross Army/Black Crusaders), United Nations sets up a “EAGLE” (EArth Guard LEague) (Kokusaiteki Heiwa Soushiki Iiguru) to combat the threat. This special army is distributed to various parts of the world (designated as “Blocks”). One of the largest “Blocks” is Japan.
The “Kuro Juujigun”, fearful of this united threat against them, decides to launch a surprise attack against the Japan EAGLE Block and sends five of its most dangerous cyborg operatives to attack Japan’s various EAGLE branches.
Across Japan the Kuro Juujigun decimates its targets, killing all those who oppose them. Yet from the ashes of these destroyed bases, five young recruits miraculously survive and vow vengeance. Given a special interlocking “key”, the various survivors are summoned to snackshop “Gon”, secret gateway to EAGLE Japan’s main command center by Japan’s EAGLE Commander Edogawa Kenpachi. There they are given special formfitting electronic battlesuits, which empower its wearer with various superhuman abilities. Edogawa tells them that they are the Secret Squadron “Goranger”, the world’s best chance against the forces of the Kuro Juujigun. Armed with these battlesuits and other special weapons created by EAGLE scientists, they extract their revenge upon the Kuro Juujigun operatives who killed their comrades and dedicate themselves to crushing the remaining forces of the Kuro Juujigun and its sinister leader Kuro Juuji Soutou (Black Cross Fuhrer/Generallisimo).

I think it is not super sentai, but it's tokusatsu nonetheless.
Taken from wikipedia:
Tokusatsu (特撮, Tokusatsu?) is a Japanese loanword which originally meant both "special effects" in general and more specifically, a genre of live-action Japanese entertainment, encompassing many subgenres of film and television; however, in non-Japanese languages, it only refers to the second definition. Tokusatsu generally has science fiction, fantasy, or horror themes, but this is not always the case. The most popular types of tokusatsu entertainment are kaiju movies (the Godzilla and Gamera film series), superhero TV serials (the Kamen Rider and Metal Heroes series), and mecha dramas (Giant Robo), or combinations of all of them (the Ultraman and Super Sentai series).
The term "tokusatsu" is a contraction of the Japanese phrase "tokushu satsuei" (特殊撮影, "tokushu satsuei"?), meaning "special photography". In production, the special effects director is given the title of "tokushu gijutsu" (特殊技術, "tokushu gijutsu"?), Japanese for "special techniques" or "tokusatsu kantoku" (特撮監督, "tokusatsu kantoku"?), which is Japanese for "special effects director", the title usually used by English language productions.
Tokusatsu is one of the most popular and representative forms of Japanese entertainment, along with anime and manga, although it is not as widely known in non-Asian countries.

JAKQ Dengekitai
J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai (ジャッカー電撃隊, Jakkā Dengekitai?), translated into English as J.A.K.Q. Blitzkrieg Squad is the second Sentai series. Aired in April 9, 1977-December 24, 1977. Unlike most of the other Sentai which start out with a team of 5 members the JAKQ team started out with only 4. A fifth member (Big One) appeared in episode 23. J.A.K.Q. Dengeki Tai was not nearly as popular as Goranger, only running for 35 episodes. J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai is the second and final sentai created by Shotaro Ishinomori.
J.A.K.Q. or JAKQ comes from Jack, Ace, King, Queen. The J.A.K.Q. team members are named after playing cards. Their leader goes by the code name of "Joker".
Plot

Iron Claw is the "Crime Czar" of a global criminal empire known simply as "Crime". With a network of wealthy and influential sympathizers and employing an army of faceless, leather- masked thugs (Crimers) and cyborg/robot assassins, "Crime" seeks to become the most powerful mafia organization in the world.
To combat this threat, INTERPOL organizes a special taskforce to spearhead the efforts to bring Crime to justice. Based in New York, ISSIS (International Science Special Investigation Squad [Kokusai Kagaku Tokusou Tai]) begins to organize its forces around the world to battle Crime. Tokyo ISSIS branch commander, Kujirai Daisuke, proposes a radical experiment to aid his forces in Japan. Taking the codename “Joker”, he recruits four young test subjects to undergo his cyborg enhancement project – multitalented athlete and Olympic Gold medalist Sakurai Gorou, disgraced Junior Walter Weight Champion boxer Higashi Ryuu, critically injured Police Woman Karen Mizuki and clinically dead and cryogenically sustained Oceanographer Daichi Bunta. Surgically altered and given various energy manipulation powers and bionic enhancements, the four youths begin their mission to destroy Crime as the crime-busting quartet code-named "JAKQ – Dengekitai". Later on, uber cyborg and master of disguise Banba Soukichi is added to the team to strengthen their number and step up their attack on Crime.
There are no giant monsters or giant robots to fight them in J.A.K.Q. Dengeki Tai. CRIME uses human sized monsters assisted by masked soldiers called Crimers. CRIME also has bat-winged aircraft called Devil Sharks.
JAKQ was the final Sentai series to use only the Sentai name. Afterwords the name "Super Sentai" was used.

Battle Fever J
Battle Fever J (バトルフィーバーJ, Batoru Fībā Jei?) is a Japanese TV series, being the 3rd entry of the Super Sentai series franchise. It was produced by Toei Company and aired on TV Asahi on February 3, 1979-January 26, 1980 with a total of 52 episodes. It was Toei’s second co-production with Marvel.
The Rangers have designations named for countries around the world : Battle Japan, Battle France, Battle Cossack (Soviet Union), Battle Kenya and Miss America (United States). It was also the second show to introduce the Super Sentai format (Spider-Man was the first), where the heroes must control giant robots to defeat a monster who itself has grown to a gigantic size (or anything similar).
Battle Fever J was the first series to use the term Super Sentai (unlike the previous two who were just called Sentai, without the “Super”). For a long time, Battle Fever J was considered the first entry in the Super Sentai series, as seen in Episode 1 of Kousoku Sentai Turboranger that honors the past 10 sentai (the other 9 being Denjiman, Sun Vulcan, Goggle V, Dynaman, Bioman, Changeman, Flashman, Maskman and Liveman) until Toei announced in 1994 that its predeccesors Goranger and J.A.K.Q. where also part of the Super Sentai series, when Chouriki Sentai Ohranger was announced as the 19th super sentai team.
Plot
General Kurama assembles four young agents who had been dispatched around the world for training. They are joined by FBI investigator Diane Martin, whose father was murdered by Egos. The five don powered suits to become the Battle Fever team. (The word 'fever' was trendy at the time.) The Battle Fever team's trump card is the Battle Fever Robo. Egos tries to stop the construction of the Robo, but the monsters they send to perform this task are defeated one by one by the Fever team. Egos then unleashes the 'younger brother' of the Buffalo Monster, a giant robot replica of its 'older brother'. The Robo, fortunately, is finished in time. Aboard it, the Fever team defeats the Buffalo Monster and its successors. The Fever team never stops, even when it lost two of its members (the original Miss America and Battle Cossack). With new members, the team defeats Hedder, now the Hedder Monster, and breaks into Egos' headquarters, where they are fed into the Egos Monster Making Machine so that they may be used as material for a Battle Fever Monster. The team destroys the machine and with the Lightning Light Sword Rocketter sword-throwing move, slays the mysterious deity Satan Egos himself.
