This is where I will write down the things that have happened so far in our sessions. If I provide inaccurate information or I missed a few key details during the adventure, please let me know asap so I can change it (pref. by PM, so we can keep this thread strictly story stuff).

Additionally, Phil, if you're reading this, please fill in the names in the blanks where I describe them. Just edit my original entry, okay?

RevanEdit: Done.

With that, let's begin! XD
_____________________________________________________________

The small band of adventurers traveled by boat to New Selentia. The group consisted of: Hermond Torwin, a gold acquisitionist looking for his fortune in the New World; Alexis Harlaown, a brave new recruit who would like to make his mark in the world; Idunn Thazi, a farmgirl-turned-adventurer who wants to see the New World; Bartholomew Silverberg, a good-natured minstrel working off a debt; and Augustus Tiberiun Trajan, scion of a Selentine military family eager to prove that he is worthy of his title.

The group was greeted by the welcome wagon upon their arrival, as a dock officer accompanied by two natives inspected their belongings. Here the adventurers got a look at the indigenous people of New Selentia for the first time: their kayumanggi skin, plain garb, and simple weapons. The dock officer cleared each member of the party, and eventually the group pressed forward.

In town, the adventurers got to explore a little bit. The architecture was not aesthetically well done, but they seemed to offer a good enough defense. There was a myriad of things to do as well, such as visit a fortune teller or purchase some beef jerky. Bartholomew, having a vested interest in both divinations and astrology, headed for the fortune teller's tent first. However, he could not afford the steep prices and decided to visit another time.

The group then heard a merchant selling beef jerky, and decided to purchase a few pieces. However, upon closer inspection, they realized something was wrong with the meat. With a bit of gentle coaxing, they got the merchant to admit that the jerky was made of rats, and not beef. Though anybody would be repulsed at such a discovery, especially after eating a bit of the jerky, Augustus in particular took offense to the man's practices, as the rats were Lysean, no less. This led to the arrest of the man, a situation that a particularly crafty halfling girl took advantage of to swindle the group of a few gold pieces.

Soon the party headed for a meeting with Praetor Vespasian, the local Selentine governor, who informed them of some rather strange occurences in the area. Apparently, something had been kidnapping men, women, and children in the area, and at differing circumstances. Sometimes the victims would put up a fight, while other times there didn't seem to be any struggle at all. The Praetor then tasked the party with finding the missing people, and everybody obliged. They were told to look for Algie, member of the Ratcatchers, who might have some information on the matter.

Unfortunately Algie was at Ashmead, which entailed the acquisition of a boat. Eventually a boat was found and the party set out for Ashmead. Along the way, however, they encountered a band of merfolk, who shouted, "Ang mga taga-lupa ay mananatili sa lupa!" Augustus understood well enough that they couldn't get past without dealing with the merfolk threat, and so everybody put up a good fight to subdue the attackers.

Finally they arrived at Ashmead, but were told to leave their belongings, weapons, etc. behind. Everybody obliged, though some more grudgingly than others. They started to look for Algie, but apparently nobody knew his whereabouts. All they got were a few leads to work on. As night fell, the group opted to rest and move again by morning.

The next day, the group decided to investigate the Ashmead sewer system. This required a bit of stealth on the group's part, and things were going well, until Bartholomew absent-mindedly picked up his mandolin to strum a few notes. It was then that they were heard by Bala and her pets, who looked hungry for battle. Bartholomew, realizing how his actions compromised the group, attempted to fascinate Bala, and succeeded. However, Hermond could not keep his desire for combat much longer. He suddenly struck one of Bala's pets, and soon enough, a fight had ensued.

It was a hard-fought brawl, which could easily have spelled the end for the adventurers. But Bartholomew thought of a plan: when both parties were pretty much on equal footing, he would trick Bala into believing more men were on their way to their location. He managed to talk her into believing what he was saying, and Bala surrendered.

The group then surveyed the area, but apparently they had taken too long. Suddenly, a swarm of rats entered the room, and their prisoner had disappeared amongst the swarm. Following Bala's escape, the group went into the next room and found a man gagged and bound. He introduced himself as Weston, Algie's employer under the Ratcatchers. Unfortunately, he didn't know where Algie was either, so the group investigated the room a little more.

They then found an ivory figure of a slug, and a series of letters between a man named Vernon and a girl named Bala, who turned out to be brother and sister. Their letters specifically mentioned the pair's desire for revenge on Ashmead, which would be ushered in with a little help from "The Lord of Lies". None of the adventurers knew what to make of the term however, and so the group returned to Ashmead and took a little break from adventuring.

If I am not mistaken, this is where we stopped. Again, if you guys spot any inconsistencies, please tell me right away so I can update the adventure logs. Very Happy

After retrieving Weston in the sewers, the party stayed the night in the Ratcatchers' Guildhouse. The following morning, they were introduced to <Orc> and <Dwarf>. While the adventurers spoke amongst themselves, a commotion started to brew outside.

A small band of native warriors came in looking for the members of the party, claiming they were hired to take them out. Combat ensued, and the party dispatched the natives with ease.

In the midst of all the chaos, <I forgot who made their spot check> noticed somebody watching him in the distance. As he looked more closely, he realized it was a wererat--a blonde wererat, no less--who looked ominously upon them. A few of the adventurers tried to strike or subdue the wererat, but their attempts failed. In the end, the lycanthropes were able to slip away.

The party then regrouped inside the Ratcatchers' Guildhouse. It was then that they decided to sneak into the boat that the wererats were on so they could recover Algie. <Dwarf>, realizing this might be his only opportunity, requested that the party look for his cousin. The adventurers obliged and went on their way.

Under cover of night, the party carefully made their way onto the lycanthropes' ship. However, after a few blunders on their part, the wererats clearly heard them coming. In addition, the way was barred by a rather large cockroach (who was munching on what seemed to be a Dwarven corpse), which sickened everybody in the group. Fortunately the wererats decided to be reasonable, and suggested a compromise: they would hand over Algie if the party agreed to leave them alone. After some consideration, the offer was accepted.

"Wait," asked <the guy who pointed this out>. "What about the dwarves?"
"Dwarves? Why, we didn't find any dwarves!" replied <not sure, might've been Bart>.

The trip back to the Ratcatchers' Guild went well. With Algie recovered, the group made preparations for the trip back to New Selentia. "What about my cousin?" asked <Dwarf>. "We didn't catch sight of him," replied Tor. <Dwarf> seemed suspicious for a second, then seemed to trust him. With discussions done, the party headed out of the Guildhouse.

"Wait!" exclaimed <Dwarf>. "Did you really think you could lie to me?" he spat out, drawing his axe. "Face me now!"

<Dwarf> begun to move closer, but Bart quickly drew his mandolin and started playing it. His song was an enchanting melody, and <Dwarf> was quickly captivated by his performance. As <Dwarf> looked on at Bart, the group gradually sneaked away from the scene and headed for their transportation.

On the way to New Selentia, Algie mentioned something about <the thing Algie mentioned>. The party tried to recall their information on <the thing>, to some success. As they talked about the matters at hand, day turned to night, and they arrived at New Selentia.

The following morning the party met with <that general dude>. He informed them that the number of missing people had increased, as had the reward. The party, reassured by the financial benefits but at the same time concerned with the well-being of the citizens of New Selentia, hurried out to find the missing people.

It was then that the group discovered another commotion. Apparently a new bunch of people had been abducted. Soon they realized that <the fortuneteller> the fortune teller was nowhere to be found. Idunn surveyed the scene quickly and found tracks that resembled horse hooves leading away from the scene. But, strangely enough, the tracks looked like they were made by a horse standing on two legs.

The group followed the tracks into the forest. During their long walk, they realized it was raining while the sun was out, which was apparently some strange omen that occurred during a particular fey's wedding ceremonies. After some time, they eventually caught up to <fortuneteller>, who, for some reason, was up in the trees. When the group asked her to go back home with them, she replied by telling them she already was home. Confused, the group continued trying to reason with her, but soon more women stepped out from the trees. Some of them seemed charmed, while others seemed to be charmed for so long that it was no longer necessary to charm them again.

A voice spoke to the adventurers then. "What are you doing in my domain?" it asked. The group inquired about the missing people. "I see... and why should I helped you?" asked the voice. Suddenly a number of creatures that looked like horses standing on two legs dropped down from the trees and surrounded them. The party then considered their options and spoke carefully, and soon the speaker gave them some information they could use.

"The women, as you can see, are right here." The creature said. "Though I am helping you right now, I wouldn't advise you to try to take them away from here. The men, my cousin Makiliti could help you with. As for the children... the aswangs might have them. Datu Dimagapi is fighting these monsters and their mortal allies as we speak; perhaps you should meet with him."

The party considered their options. Seeing how they needed Algie to speak with Datu Dimagapi, and Algie was indisposed until the following morning, they decided to investigate Makiliti. They treaded the path and found themselves near a body of water. Along the way they found what appeared to be statues, but upon closer inspection they realized the statues were there as sort of a guard. Everybody looked for a way into the pool below... and Tor found a little more than that.

In the pool, a beautiful woman stood bathing. Tor and Idunn moved in for a closer look, while Alexis, Bart, and Augustus stood back for the meantime. Tor jumped down and looked upon the woman, but was blinded by her unearthly beauty. Idunn followed, but since she had no interest in other women, the bathing girl's beauty had no effect on her.

Bart looked down and decided to follow Tor and Idunn. The woman's beauty blinded him instantly. While Idunn helped Tor out, the girl exhibited some interest in Bart, and spoke of how other men bored her so far. Bart realized this could be his only chance. He then summoned a mandolin with a spell and started playing for Makiliti. Though his blindness made it difficult at first, he eventually played well enough to impress her. The diwata removed the blindness she had caused and sent the other men who were in her care back with the party... on the condition that Bart visit her more often, to which he happily agreed.

Upon returning to New Selentia, the party reported to <commander dude> and received their reward. This gave Bart enough to pay off his debt, but he decided to see the New Selentia adventure through to the end. In the meantime, the rest of the group dropped by...

After finally finding the missing men (what's left of them) and the missing women (sort of), Augustus, Tor & Idunn accompanie Algie to meet with Datu Dimagiba on the matters concerning the missing children. After being accosted by a mob of angry (later roasted) monkeys, the party decided to rest for the night. As night fell, a strange "ghostlike" female creature descended on the campsite & waking up Augustus & Idunn with her moaning. The ghost proved to be hostile as it took an interest in driving Tor mad and only Augustus' magic was able to harm it. The creature was somehow driven away by an insult yelled towards it by Idunn in the natives' tongue. The next day, they arrived at the natives' village of Boulacan in time for the funeral of Datu Dimagiba. Apparently some Tigatundo assassins murdered the late Datu a week ago & the heir to the throne, Dimaunahan, lead a war party into the Tigatundo's territory. None have returned. The "druid" of the village, Tinig-lain, consulted with their gods & agreed to assist the outsiders ONLY if they deal with the garbage problem from Ashmead & if the outsiders assist the village by eliminating the chief of the Tigatundo tribe. As the party returned to New Selentia, Augustus & Tor were summoned by the new praetor in charge: Senator Mortifer. Apparently while visiting the frontier town, Praetor Vespacian fell victim to an enchanted black pearl dubbed "shadowpearl" which was slowly transforming him into a wererat. The senator informed Augustus & Tor that there are 4 more shadowpearls in New Selentia & that they must not be allowed to be tampered by civilians.

The group's next assignment was searching for Dimaunahan, Datu Dimagapi's sole heir. To accomplish this they traveled to <isle>, where Dimaunahan was last seen. They enlisted the help of Lanam, cleric of Obad-Hai along the way, and were off in no time.

Upon arriving in <isle>, the party surveyed their surroundings. Idunn used her training to try and look for signs of the missing heir, while Bart used his skills in astrology to familiarize himself with the group's general orientation. In time they settled on a good place to start looking and made their way through the jungles.

Soon enough, the party encountered a band of wandering feral creatures. Choosing to employ more subtle means in their encounter, the group quickly subdued the creatures. As they debated what to do next, more feral creatures rose from the shadows, which led to a quick escape for the adventurers.

Eventually they reached the village that they were looking for, feral creatures still hot on their trail. The group looked at the myriad of huts surrounding them, and they decided to simply enter the biggest, most extravagant-looking hut available. They ran into the door and down the hall, only to be stopped by a woman.

"What is your business here?" she asked.
"Why, were you not informed?" replied Bartholomew. "We are envoys of New Selentia, honored guests of the village chieftain. He has been expecting us, you know..."
She smiled at this, and let out a low hiss. Suddenly, she transformed from a female humanoid to a large, snakelike creature.

The party exchanged blows with the creature, but did not reach a definite advantage. Lanam attempted to entangle the creature, but it simply slithered away. His spell, however, took apart some of the bamboo that lined the walls of the hut, which uncovered a shocking scene.

Behind the Yuan-Ti, a circle of mages had been formed. In the center an old man lay gagged and bound on an altar, and standing before him was none other than Dimaunahan. The party attempted to rush to the scene at the sight of the ritual, but they simply could not do anything about the Yuan-Ti. They fought and fought until it was too late, and the ritual had been completed.

Seeing their defeat, the group decided to make their retreat. The Yuan-Ti gave chase along with the villagers and the feral creatures. The party managed to find the coast just in time, however, with Algie manning a boat not too far away.

Everybody jumped into the water and swam towards the boat. Idunn had no problem, as her training made her an excellent swimmer. Bart was not as good, but his Arboreal Armor helped him stay afloat. However, Lanam and Tor had a difficult time keeping up. Soon they were both struggling to keep their heads above the water.

It took some time for the boat to get close enough, but once it did, Idunn and Alexis helped out the other members of the party. When everyone had gotten safely onto the boat, the group made haste back to New Selentia and away from the horrors of <isle>.

With Dimaunahan as their newfound enemy and the fate of the shadowpearls uncertain, things were not looking good for the adventurers...

Their little failures notwithstanding, the party still had it going rather well. The Praetor paid them well for their accomplishments. However, there was still the matter of the missing children... and the party was clueless as to where to look next.

A native priestess visited the praetor then. She told the group how the aswangs were getting more agressive, and how the diwatas now withdrew from battle. When asked why, she could provide no answer. It seems it fell on the party to investigate.

Idunn, Augustus, and the others ask around town. Bart, on the other hand, decides to check in with Makiliti. After a little convincing, she reluctantly agrees, and their audience with the prince of the diwata is arranged.

While waiting, the group decides to look into matters themselves. They decide to investigate a temple in a nearby isle. The group encounters a storm along the way. Bart quickly moves into the cabin with Pulo, while the others tumble around the deck and off the ship. Augustus, Tor, and Riki struggle to find their way back on the ship, while Bart munches on a fresh batch of champorado. In the end they are able to conquer the storm and arrive at the isle where the temple can be found.

A quick exploration of the temple reveals a boar standing watch outside. As the party approaches the boar, it quickly reveals its true form. It takes some time, but the boar is dispatched... though not before it gets in some attacks on Augustus and Tor.

Moving on, the party explores the temple a bit. They encounter a door, and looking inside, find a group of fiends devouring children. Mortified by the grotesque sight, the party springs into action to save the one remaining child. They are able to put the fiends to sleep and rescue the lone child.

Eventually they encounter a dark room. Aside from the occasional snake moving on the ground, it seemed relatively safe. The group decided it would be best to stay the night there.

That night, Tor was haunted in his sleep by dreams of lycanthropes. They seemed to call to him, beckoning him ever closer. He tries to stave off the voices, but to no avail...

In the morning, Tor was nowhere to be found. The group found a boar in his stead. Augustus, remembering the events of the previous day, looked at the boar with great suspicion. He attempted to attack the boar, but was stopped by Bart, who was fiercely against violence.

Just then, the child they saved started acting strangely. Augustus, still feeling a little trigger happy, quickly hit the child with a spell, much to the behest of Bart. They realized the child was possessed by a fiend, but the act still weighed heavy in their hearts. Determined to do better next time, Bart decides to take good care of the boar, calling him Melvin. With that, the party carried on.

While they were walking, a voice started talking to Riki as well. It kept telling him to prove himself. Riki, however, resisted the voice as best he could.

After a bit of searching, the party found a bedroom. They investigated and found various things relating to snakes and the aswangs. Just then, a huge snake appeared and attacked the party. It took some effort, but they were able to take it down with help from the boar. Realizing they weren't safe in the room, the group decided to get moving... when Bart suddenly suggested that they try to trick the Yuan-Ti.

"You would need some potent illusion magic for that," said a voice as they were deliberating. The party looked to see a native standing by the doorway. As they talked to him, they distinctly heard him neigh, and soon realized who, or what, it was they were talking to. "Go ahead, leave the rest to me," said the tikbalang. The party obliged and went on their way.

They found Pulo waiting by the boat on the shore. With a few shrewd observations, the party then realized the boar was actually Tor. Learning of the curse inflicted upon him, they did all they could to support him. Unsure if they made the correct decision, the party headed back to New Selentia anyway, taking all they had seen and learned with them.
