If you have idea, let us know! Planning is the key to a successful trip and the earlier we plan the better! It is cheaper and less room for errors!

Sugestion anyone? It can be late this year or early/mid next year!

-edit-
using my awesome goderator powers this is now known as Siargao Getaway thread Very Happy

Alright!

I'm thinking of:

1.) Baler, Aurora. Surfing (with lessons)!

2.) I want to go back to Palawan!! Puerto Prinsessa this time? XD

3.) Davao!

Maybe early next year. Say February? So the weather'll be good.

Plus, if we're going to go via plane, 4D/3N.

3D/2N just won't do!

I definitely agree with Princessa. 4d/ 3n

I propose:

1) Baler, surfing sounds good. =)

2) Davao, samal island, philippine eagle reserve, mt. apo, a bounty of dive sites

3) Puerto Princessa

4) Siargao

5) Cebu (Mactan Island, Malapascua Beach, Bantayan Island)

February or March are my suggestions Smile

So, it's going to be either Surfing (Baler or Siargao), Davao or Puerto Prinsessa. Who are the interested parties, by the way? XD

If we're going to Baler, 3D/2N is alright, since it's just 5hrs away from Manila.

Cebu's okay, I guess, but my general opinion is... it's getting pricier. It has that Boracay feel to it. @_@

Surfing sounds like a lot of fun - it's going to be different, too. ^__^

Do we get vests, though? I'm still not 100% confident with my ability to...errr...float in water. XD

Count me in as interested. Smile Surfing sounds interesting, and same concerns as BJ. I can sort of tread water, just not incredibly well. Another dive would be great as well. No real preferences for place.

I really prefer 4d/3n with one day of doing nothing.

And surfing sounds interesting too... during my camping days one of the counselors taught me and it is easy enough to learn but very hard to master. ^__ ^

Goderator, I'll PM you. Smile Get some concrete-ish plans, then present to the group.

Count me in too Very Happy.. since the Bohol trip was all about relaksyon, then next year's trip would be all about baksyon, right? Riding the huge waves would definitely be a great idea! Smile And Siargao, being the country's surfing capital, is my bet. But of course, I'd still go for what the group will decide.

I also agree with 4d/3n vacation.

Goderator, I sent you a link of a travel blog. Maybe it'll help. Smile

Guys, we need a show of hands to see who're interested in the trip. I know the boards are borderline DEAD and not a lot of people are checking, so I will probably go to Facebook to get the news out. Actually, I DID and no one replied. >.>

For now, I'm assuming that most of the people who were on the Bohol trip are a go.

Looks like it's Siargao next year. Very Happy

Check out these waves: http://www.philippines-travel-guide.com/siargao-surfing-video.html <---- I didn't even know we had waves like these here.

BUT...

Quote:
Siargao surfing is known throughout the world as a first class quality break. Which is reflected in the fact that Siargao surfing now has an International competition every October.

The season here starts in August but really pumps from September/October through to about March. This coincides with the northwestern monsoon and the high frequency of typhoons in the Pacific Ocean during this time.

So, I take this to mean that there will be waves, but they won't be as high if we go during the first half of the year.

Plus, there are dive spots in Siargao, so I'll be happy. Very Happy

This is the best resort I've found so far:

http://www.patricksoncloud9.com/

And they sent me this:

Quote:
Thanks for your inquiry. Where are you from?
To calculate a package deal I need to have more information what your group wants to have included:

How many Cottages? The more people sharing one cottage the lower the price.
What is the average age of your group?
What are the dates or how many days do you plan to stay with us.
Do you want to have included unlimited use of all water sports: kayaks, surfboards, paddle boats, row boat.
Do you like to include a meal plan - 1, 2 or 3 daily meals?
What kind of tours would you like to include?
Do you need any transfers from the airport or pier?
Do you need assistance with tickets within the Philippines

The more information I have, the better package I can prepare. What also helps is to let me know what kind of budget if any you are planning your visit with.

Any thoughts?

@Xtian: As long as there's a dive shop, they will most likely offer an introdive course. Smile

Got your PM, now we have to iron out all the details.

So, we call everyone up now?

ATTENTION:

Here are the initial details of the Siargao Getaway:

Where: Siargao
When: May 6 - 9, 2011
Accommodations: (none confirmed)

Patrick's on the Beach

Patrick's on Cloud 9

We will be getting the Superior Aircon room (unless some of you go for another option - tent, fan room, etc)
Other Rates here: http://www.patricksoncloud9.com/rates.php

(@juaberman: You can rent a tent! Very Happy)

So it'll be P1800/day (I'm just not sure if that's PER PERSON or for the two of you)

P1800 x 4D = P7200 (Note: The Goderator and I are working to research cheaper but still alright accommodations. Any help will be very much appreciated.)

Ticket details: We will have two connecting flights, Manila > Cebu, Cebu > Siargao

We will take the first flight from Manila out and the last flight from Siargao.

Tickets (as of October 02, 2010) are P5,596 back and forth. Remember that ticket prices go higher the closer the date of departure is.

Other activities:
Surfing lessons (cost of this to follow)
Diving (P2500 all in; including lessons and gear)
Kayaking

We will NOT be going on a city tour. Very Happy Island hopping is still not sure, too.

Razz

I think 7200 pax is insane, especially since every additional person retroactively just adds 1600 to the whole thing. Still, I guess we have to ask the resort, so we don't get surprised.

And it's all starting to come together! Hoorah!

I'm interested, but work seems to be slowing down in the next few months, and unless I get some nice sidelines or a new mainline, I may end up having a harder time saving for this trip this time around. (well that or kick out the new books, games, and 40k habit for a while) I am suddenly a question mark.

Guys, change in destination for next year. The destination will be...

*drumroll!*

PUERTO PRINSESA, PALAWAN!

Details are as follows:

Where: Puerto Prinsesa
Accommodations: Dangkalan Resort
When: May 6-9, 2011

Package inclusions:
- 4 days/ 3 nights Standard aircon room / twin sharing
- Daily breakfast
- Honda Bay Island hopping with buffet lunch
- Underground River tour with buffet lunch
- Registration fees and permits
- Tour guide
- roundtrip airport transfers (Puerto Princesa airport - hotel - Puerto Princesa airport)

(If you guys notice, no more city tour. We'll have plenty of time to just relax and play on the beach. I highly suggest going diving this time around, though. Very Happy)

How much: So far it's P5,385 per person, beachfront at Dangkalan Resort. This is calculated for FOUR people, which means the price will go down if/when more people go on the trip.

Airfare:

Total: P9985 per person WITH airfare. That's calculated for FOUR people, guys. The more people join, the less it'll be.

Hoooray!!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Awesome pag kasama si juaberman. Laughtrip all the way. XD

Generally, ZestAir has cheaper fares, but later flights. That will usually mean that CebuAir people will be waiting for ZestAir flyers at the airport for about 1 or 2 hours. Look around for cheaper fares, I'm sure meron.

Tip: Buy tix as early as you can, madali na mag-ipon for the actual accommodations and activites. Smile

ZestAir DOES have much cheaper rates (like half of CebuAir)... BUT...

Look at the Arrival Time at Puerto Princessa.

CebuAir Pacific arrives at PP at 9:30am
ZestAir arrives at 5:10pm

More than 5 hours difference. Most probably, if anyone opts to go for ZestAir, they'll be renting their own van to the resort. @_@

Plus, you leave Puerto Princessa earlier by 2 hours.

Buy tickets while still cheap. Or you may gamble for promo.

Once princesa, BJ, I and my gf buy ticket I don't think there will still be promo since it will spike the demand. And tix will go more expensive.

What my barkada and I do is... one person buys the tickets, which means...

1.) we all buy at the same price
2.) we're all together in the same area. Very Happy

But, of course, that must mean you will definitely go to Palawan. Very Happy
