Howdy gamers and friends.

Who among the presidential candidates do you want (or not want) to win the May election? Explain your answer. Is it because of popularity? Winnability? or because your your candidate is the least of evil?

Hobbygamers, and friends, let's talk politics.

Honestly if you'd asked me a couple days ago I probably would have said Noynoy. But after going to the Presidential debate yesterday, I must say Gibo made a believer out of me. So many of the candidates' answers were too general, while Gibo was clear, concise, and confident. I must say Jamby, Perlas, and Dick Gordon also did rather well, but Gibo was slightly better in his delivery, and iirc he's ahead in the polls over the aforementioned three. So, all told, my vote goes to Gibo.

Not that a candidate's intelligence is the only determining factor in deciding who to vote for, but for me, it certainly speaks volumes.

Regardless, I'd take anybody over Villar. Even Bro. Eddie (well, okay, maybe not him). So, realistically speaking, if this were just a "don't-let-Villar-get-elected" vote, I would vote for Noynoy.

All this is moot in my case, though. I didn't get to register Laughing

Not going to answer the top poll yet, as I'm not decided.

First off, anyone but Villar. Bloody thief who's using the poor to get elected. And I've said many times before, I'm very leery of Noynoy. Oh look, my dad was assassinated and my mom just died, vote for me! Feh. There's probably more to him than that, but that's the majority of what I'm getting most days.

If I were to vote on raw principle, I'd be tending towards Perlas or Gordon, but Gibo is a close third. Didn't have the good fortune to see the debate though.

I've got three game plans running around my head for voting day right now, and here they are in order of preference.

-Vote on principle: Perlas or Gordon.
-Vote for the winnable lesser evil: Gibo
-Find a way to elect anyone besides Villar: Noynoy

As for VP, nobody has impressed me right now.

Since the start, I've always been for Gibo. I've watch every debate that the presidential candidates have attended and so far he was the only one that impressed me. I'll just enumerate the reasons why I won't be voting for the other candidates:

Noynoy: He keeps on using the names of his parents for his campaign which has no bearing on his real character. He also keeps on evading the issue about the incident at Hacienda Luisita.

Villar: I'm an engineer and we do hear a lot of complaints with Camella Homes which are still unaswered. Plus the fact that he also keeps on eluding the case with regard to the C-5 extension which is in reality far above the fair value of the land concerned with.

Erap: Yes, he does have a hierarchy going on in San Juan. A lot are impressed on how the said municipality is being governed but I beg to differ. I scoured every road that it has to offer and I've been to its slum areas and believe me, I ain't impress with anything.

Jamby: I still remember the attack at the Malacaņang where she left the people that she was leading as soon as the riot started. What a great leader she is.

Eddie: I still believe that there should be a separation between religion and the government. Nuff said.

Gordon: Has anyone here been to Subic lately? Try testing its water quality. I recommend the office of the SBMA that he previously held.

d_a: Minor note on your Gordon quip. Mind you, he was SBMA chair from 92 to 98. After that, he was off doing other things, and Subic and Olongapo's infrastructure was pretty much out of his hands.

Jamby: Seconded. :p

Erap: Reasonably good for San Juan. Never said the Estradas were perfect. But if you really want to go onto the nit-picky on infra, slam Jinggoy and JV in recent years. Not that I'm a dyed in the red Erap loyalist, but for the sake of fairness put blame where blame is due. And of course I don't want a convicted plunderer back in office.

The person whose candidacy really interests me is Nicanor Perlas as an activist candidate. But really, he's got a snowball's chance in hell.

Yeah but what happened to Subic started during his time. Mind you, he cut down a lot of trees, plus the "toxic waste issue" and lastly the budget spent for renovating the old bunks there but until now hasn't been used by anyone.

Amusing little follow up on our Estrada comments. You know it's election season when random city workers on a truck suddenly pull over to fix the potholes beside your house. Smile) Yey elections.

Villar definitely displays traits of a leader the way he handles things to achieve is objectives is scary. He's got will alright but I do not believe in his view for a better Philippines. He exploits the poor to boost up his pro-poor image. He uses loopholes. He is a coward who hides behind his fortune and his army of ass-lickers. I do not like the way he uses his sense of untouchability to evade allegations to him. He may be a leader but only to his own.

Noynoy. Naah. Parents are already dead. Let them rest. The dead Aquino's charisma will not translate to his performance his office.

My thoughts are similar to this. If the country would have a chance to have a decent leader I would vote for the least evil. At least it is a small step forward. If the election was held today I would vote for Gibo as the least evil but I might change my decision depending on the winnability of other evils.

As an addition to Villar and Noynoy, I will not vote for any religious leader to lead this country.

Will never vote: Villar, Noynoy, Erap, and Eddie.

I do want to hear Gibo's platforms in regards with Philippine military especially he is from DND.

If I could choose someone else not on that list, I am thinking of Miriam Santiago as our president.
Twisted Evil

By the way, do we have Villar supporters here? Speak up you mind please. You can speak freely here.

This was the fastest election that I've been in. I only spent a total of 2 minutes inside my precinct. ^__^

Well, if it's about 54% of election returns, then that means Noynoy has around 9.34% of total votes, while ERAP has 5.93% (at the time I clicked on the link). There's still 46% votes to go through, so it's still anyone's ball game. Yes, 54% is usually a semi-reliable number to base upon already. But we'll get to 100% soon enough.

I can't believe how fast the counting is occuring this time around. I suppose computerized elections ARE effective in speeding up the elections. >.>

The partial result is intriguing though. Back in 1998 (iirc), ERAP was behind the surveys compared to Miriam (the statistical favorite), but ERAP won nonetheless. Looks like the same magic is happening here, although the Noynoy support is still strong.

I voted really early, was there almost 7 amp. But the weird 'pila' system they made created much confusion (in our turf) that it took me 1 hour to get out of my precinct (waiting time was more 50 mins, voting itself was rather quick)

I didn't vote for any president, so I still can't answer the above poll. I actually have no preference, so I'm all good whoever wins, so long he/she does his/her job.

Stastical magic...or as we like to call it, dagdag-bawas. Very Happy

Yeah, results are coming in pretty fast, aren't they? Rather than having an entire month to finagle the counting, they've only got a day or two of opportunity to rig things.

@erwin: Well, in defense of Comelec and Smartmatic, there are only so many machines to go around. Had they not decided to take the precinct clustering method, machine costs could easily have tripled (had something like 3-4 precincts/cluster at our polling place).

I should not have been so paranoid about the polling and gone early this morning, actually. What with the messed up directions and the newsies all waiting for photo-ops of Erap casting his ballot, it ate something like an hour of time. When my brother voted late afternoon, it took him all of ten minutes to walk to the school, vote, and drag his butt back home. Smile)

Oh, all of them will pretty much be doing the job. It's what else they might be doing in office that's likely to get us all in trouble. Here's hoping for the best.

I'm not really complaining about the long wait since I've experienced worse, particularly during UP enrollments. Very Happy

My complain is that they didn't say what the stations they made do, as in the stations have no signs. They just tell to go this line, then go there next, then go back, which created confusion especially to the elderly. And the fact that stations have multiple duties, which means a line can have people whose about to get their ballots and people who already voted and just need to sign a certain form.

It is my first time voting, so I'm not sure if this was normal compared before.

At 79.35% of the ERs in, this is starting to look like noynoy by a landslide. The gap right now is about 4.5m votes, and there are roughly only 7.6m votes left to count. Of course, this is from the unofficial, prone-to-error count, so it could still vary from the COMELEC's count.

Indeed.

In the congressional news, it seems that GMA and Pacquiao will both make it to the House of Representatives.

Took my family a total of 4 hours to complete the whole voting process.

And Pacman is finally going to be a politician. Prepare for more Pacman jokes!
