As some of you guys know atm, I'm in the USA on a book-buying spree. I'm pretty much committed to buying some D&D4 books, but I'm also planning to grab copies of World of Darkness material (and possibly even Cthulhutech, but that's a distant third place).

What I want to know is, in our group, who would be interested in playing and/or running World of Darkness chronicles, and exactly what expansions do you guys want to use? What books would you be interested in?

At the moment, my hitlist is as follows:

-World of Darkness
-Mage: The Awakening
-Hunter: The Vigil
-Changeling: The Lost (actually, bj's order, but that means somebody else will be willing to run)

Considering:
-Inferno (demons and devils supplement)
-Seers of the Throne (Mage adversaries)
-Planar sourcebooks for Mage (Abyssal Encounters, Astral Plane)
-Magical Traditions (for adding a non-Atlantean
-Werewolf: The Forsaken
-Armory
-Adversaries
-Dogs of War
-Tales from Precinct 13

Right now, the question is whether to grab a focused selection of books and splat (say Mage and its adversaries and planar books) or to get a wider spread of books across multiple settings (like say the corebooks of Mage, Hunter, Werewolf, Vamp, and then one or two splat like Adversaries and Armory).

Opinions? I'll be ordering books around the 22nd or 23rd. Sound off, and I'll be back to read feedback around the 21st or 22nd.

Just to be clear; I'm getting changeling, but by no means does that imply that the org will see it as I won't be able to go to UP anymore. Sad

Though technically I'm not part of this gaming group, per se. I'd recommend grabbing Tome of the Mysteries for nMage if you don't have it yet. It has a boatload of information and can greatly enrich a Mage: the Awakening chronicle.

I've even put up a review of it in my blog last year, that might help you decide.

Also, Seers of the Throne is a fantastic look at the main antagonists for Mage. Though I worry about how useful the book will be for non-GMs. However, it does provide enough rules for people to actually Run / Play Seer games, which would be an interesting counterpoint to a standard Atlantean Orders oriented Mage game.

That said, Hunter: the Vigil is also a great buy if you're looking to diversify your selection of games.

Armory and Armory: Reloaded are good utility books, and most of the more mechanically oriented sort will appreciate the greater diversity these will bring to Fighting Styles, Future Weapons, Firearms, and Combat Hacks that can be used in any sort of nWoD game.

All right, thanks for the suggestion.

How it's looking (stuff buying personally. A few people are also ordering stuff, but it's not in this list):

WoD
Armory
Mage
Hunter
Werewolf
Seers
Tome of the Mysteries

On the D&D side,
Eberron PG
pre-order of Eberron CG.

The Seers of the Throne expansion is still a bit of an unknown...but I do want to grab it, as I do want to get into the heads of the Seers. Considering dropping Seers, Tome, and Armory for Vampire and Promethean. It looks like I'm too early to catch the release of Geist. Armory Reloaded sounds cool as well, but also another question mark.

Dropped Tome, couldn't get it at a decent price, and Armory, as it was above budget, but everything else is in. The books are slowly dribbling in. The Seers...yegods...I'm loving the Seers of the Throne. They are villains that I can simultaneously hate and understand. They mesh perfectly with my obsessions with control and free will, both on a micro and macro scale. Creepy fun reading. They make the "Atlantis" mega-myth just that much more intriguing. Rather then focusing on the lost Golden Age aspect, I'd rather focus on the divine tyrants that inherited the mantle of heaven.

Looking forward to Hunter. And Eberron! Whee!

I'm sorta committed to a D&D4E game every other week when I get back, but is anyone interested in a Mage or Hunter game as well? Or would someone like to run a game? UP based, or a rotating gaming place?

Hey there,

Glad you liked Seers of the Throne. It was definitely a great example of a supplement that contributes positively to the quality of a game line. Seers turn from corny opponents to very respectable and admittedly fearsome opponents that have motivations you can understand.
