The thread assumes that there will be presidential elections next year Laughing

Have you already registered to vote? If not, then you should do so. Exercise your right to vote as the Filipinos before us had sacrificed their lives for this right. If you have already registered then make sure you vote the best person for the position. It is our duty as a good Filipino citizen to vote the person who is the best to lead us.

If you do not vote you forfeit your right to complain about the president's incompetency or anything about that person. You did nothing to put a better person in the seat of power in the first place. Second, not voting is an irresponsibility and it is not right to complain if you yourself is irresponsible.

Do not say you don't want to vote because you don't want yourself to be a part of the flawed corrupt system. From the day you become were conceived you are already part of the system. The state has protected your and your parents' right to live while you were still a fetus in so many ways like by protecting you from harmful persons in form police, by protecting your health in terms of health workers, and by ensuring you have a food to eat by implementing crop enhancing technologies.

You part of the system. Saying otherwise means you give up the benefits you take everyday and everynight for granted. The streetlights are put up by this system you don't want to be part of. Your rights are protected guaranteed by the police and military everyday. The only way not to be part of the system is to stop being a citizen (which includes getting out of the Philippines).

Election is a representation of people's will - the way an election is held, who won, how they won, who voted, tell a lot about the people involve. One of the worst signs that can be seen in an election is the lack of voters. Apathy is a bigger problem than a flawed and corrupt government.

So, next year, go and vote wisely, vote with informed decision, vote for the best.

I agree with xtian here. You know what I hate with activists? If you ask each and every one of them if they voted last election you won't get a convincing "yes." I once had an argument with a former friend in engineering he was one of our student councils and an active demonstrator. I asked him if he voted for someone and told me he didn't. So I told him to his face that he has no right to complain. In the first place, he forfeited his right to choose whom he wants to lead so by being passive he agrees to follow whoever wins. Voting is not a right, it is a responsibility. Even if the one you opt for didn't win at least you can say to yourself that you tried to make a difference. I have always exercised my responsibility to vote, even if I don't know what might happen, even if the lines are so long and the sun is to effin hot. Guys, let's vote, let's make a difference. At the moment the majority of those who vote are from the uneducated group which usually votes either by being bribed or via band wagon effect. We are equipped with the knowledge to choose logically for once let's turn around the tables.
