|
Since Doran has rendered most weenie aggro decks, including green stompy, and Macey Rock--the aggro version of the rock, useless and outmatched, I wonder what tech will make the deck as effective in Legacy and extended.
I have most of the piyesa of Doran except for the Targomoyfs. I only have 2 Loxodon Hierarchs. What else do I need to go head to head with combo in Legacy or Extended. Right now I'm looking for vindicate and two more cabal therapy. Any suggestions for sideboard cards versus top decks for Legacy and extended? _________________ Holy Lonely Night, Heavy Lonely Night ---

I doubt that Doran can keep up with Legacy decks without Power cards. And Cabal Therapy and Vindicate are no longer Extended-legal.
If you're going for Extended, I'd suggest a sideboard with Ancient Grudge for Affinity. Zoo should be a favorable match-up for the Doran deck anyways.
For piyesa: Thoughtseize and Duress for hand-control, the Ravnica shocklands if you don't have them already, Putrefy for Affinity and spot removal.
Check out the mtg site for more info on the archetypes that'll come up. _________________ I shut my eyes in order to see. |

Doran, the Siege Tower
I dunno about Extended/Legacy, but I remember hearing of a Standard archetype that had Doran, Reveillark, Fulminator Mage, and Order of Whiteclay. _________________ And I'm still, still longing. Still cold... so cold. |

Playtested the Doran deck vs a premium mono-white Kithkin tribal deck complete with all rares and I was clobbered 6-0. Mirrorweave is killer once there are two of the Kithkin Deranged Hermit clone in play.
Need a flier to break the crucial mid-game. Not willing to pay the current price for Chameleon Colossus yet. Probably need 2 more Loxodon Hierarch. Path to Exile is a must buy even if it costs a whopping P200 each. How much does Jitte cost nowadays? _________________ Holy Lonely Night, Heavy Lonely Night ---

Well, the Doran deck should play like The Rock, i.e. you strip away the opponent's options using Thoughtseize and Cabal Therapy then swinging with your Tarmo/Doran/large creature for the win.
In the Kith matchup, the Doran deck should be the control one. The mass of little Kithkin's are nothing compared to your fatties given time. Of course, the fact that you have said fatty makes you very vulnerable to the Mirrorweave kill. My advice: just hold your PtE when against Kithkin and send the creature they want to weave farming. Worst case scenario, you get a basic land. _________________ I shut my eyes in order to see. |
