what's the craziest decklist you've ever written?

I have a lot, truth be told. Right now, though, the craziest one has to be a weird Standardized Friggorid variant (with 400% less Ichorids than any other version!). It's really slow, but I mean, it's always fun casting a 17/17 Golgari Grave-Troll. I'll post the decklist some time; it's on Apprentice, so you know, laziness.

Actually, it's not happy. It screws and locks most of the time. But I'm way too lazy to fix the mana, AND I'm unwilling to throw in those super-expensive duals. It's just not economical.

4 Llanowar Elves
4 Magus of the Candelabra
4 Sage of Epityr
4 Coiling Oracle
4 Scryb Ranger

4 Carven Caryatid
3 Thornscape Battlemage
3 Mystic Snake
2 Selesnya Guilmage

2 Biorythm

4 Cloudstone Curio
2 Pandemonium

2 Fungal Reaches
3 Gruul Turf
4 Simic Growth Chamber
7 Forest
6 Island

Any suggestions?

cut some bounce lands, i think. maybe -2 Gruul Turf, +1 Mountain? unless they haven't been a problem so far. if you decide to do so, maybe cut 1 or 2 magus of the candelabra and replace with some random comes-into-play creature (draining whelk comes to mind, but then the mana base would require a bit more tweaking).

i know kevin will like this

Creatures
4 Mogg War Marshall
4 Stormfront Riders
3 Soul Warden
3 Whitemane Lion
2 Norin, the Wary
2 Lightning Serpent

Other Spells
4 Seething Song
3 Pandemonium
3 Cloudstone Curio
3 Gauntlet of Power
2 Disintegrate
2 Boros Signet
1 Pyrohemia

Lands
2 Kher Keep
12 Mountains
9 PLains

the idea is to bounce a lot of creatures to create more creatures. this in turn allows you to bounce more creatures. the kill is either beatdown, via pandemonium, or a really big disintegrate. gauntlet of power powers up the combo. stormfront riders essentiallly makes the combo infinite. soul warden helps in the gain life dept to hold off beatdown and direct damage. lemme know on how to improve this. tomorrow i'll submit a multicolor sliver deck and a recycle deck that truly recycles.

Hammerheim Deadeye - 3R
Creature - Giant Warrior (U)
Echo {5}{R}
When Hammerheim Deadeye comes into play, destroy target creature with flying.
3/3

Keldon Marauders - 1R
Creature - Human Warrior (C)
Vanishing 2 (This creature comes into play with two time counters on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a time counter from it. When you remove the last, sacrifice it.)
When Keldon Marauders comes into play or leaves play, it deals 1 damage to target player.
3/3

Lavacore Elemental - 2R
Creature - Elemental (U)
Vanishing 1
Whenever a creature you control deals damage to an opponent, you may put a time counter on Lavacore Elemental.
5/3

Just to lighten up the curve.

The Keldon Marauder is pretty fat for a {1}{R}, and the ping it dishes out makes it a throw in for a Pandemonium + Cloudstone Curio. Very Happy

Also, Rite of Flame wouldn't look so bad in such a deck, considering that Gauntlet of Power is very big for a multi-color deck.

Hola, mi hermanos.

Welcome to the first edition of Dum's Decks from Binder Hell. With the release of Planar Chaos, i came up with a particularly cooky deck. i am making this up as i go along people, so please accomodate me.

4 Pyrohemia
4 Circle of Affliction
4 Skred
3 Tendrils of Agony
3 Consume Spirit
3 Sulfurous Blast
3 Gauntlet of Power
4 Brainspoil
2 Vampiric Link

4 Stuffy Doll
4 Volcano Hellion

2 Terramorphic Expanse
2 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
10 Snow Covered Mountains
8 Snow Covered Swamps

Yes, another Stuffy Doll-Skred Deck. One should notice, however, the synergy of all the cards in the deck. The brainspoil tutors for the stuffy doll, volcano hellion can kill your opponent outright if you have more life, with gauntlet of power (naming red), mountains can produce RR, powering up both your pyroheima AND circle of affliction (also named red). Another is how i eschewed the use of furnace of rath, deeming it too easy to pull off. I don't like sudden kills, let me bleed my opponent out... slowly. there is only one kill, not counting consuming your opponent out, and that's just lame. only mono-sissy-black does that. i don't know if i'll ever build this, but i think it's really fun. i'm building my crusher deck and another turn 5 infinite damage deck, which i'll re-post soon as i finish building it. please tune in next week for another glimpse from Binder Hell

^Looks good. I'm thinking, though, maybe a Dimir House Guard or two to fetch Pyrohemia/Volcano Hellion? The Hellion is particularly important I think in that Hellion + Stuffy = win, provided your life total is higher (or, if you're desperate, you could force a tie, hehehe). In that regard, maybe add some quick burn spells, too (i.e. Shock and/or Seal of Fire, maybe even Volcanic Hammer). I figure it could be useful in a deck like this, which lives or dies by having a life total higher than its opponent's.

nice deck..

BOAB: i was thinking of a UB discarder (cheap version). As of now this are my "pyesa":

3 funeral charm
3 piracy charm
3 Riptide Pilferer
4 Dimir Cutpurse (the only card that is pricey)
3 Dimir Signet
4 Megrim(cant come up with any other kills)
4 Wistful Thinking
4 Consult the Necrosages
2 the Rack
4 Boomerang
2 Wipe away
2 Blizzard Specter (cant afford Hippy)
3 Dismal Failure

~the goal of the deck is simple: discard the oponnents hand, get beatdown, and/or killed by megrim (pretty pathetic).. i needs A LOT of improving so pls help with this one teacher dum!

~btw, pls keep in mind that this is BoaB, so no Persecutes or Hypnotic or any pocket-drilling, mana(money)-depleting, mana(money)-burning cards pls.....

hmm...
suggestions:
4 funeral charm
4 piracy charm
4 Dimir Cutpurse
3 Dimir Signet
2 Wistful Thinking
4 Consult the Necrosages
4 the Rack
4 Wipe away
2 Blizzard Specter
3 Dismal Failure
2 venarian glimmer
2 psychic drain

-4 megrim
-4 boomerang
-2 wistful thinking
-3 riptide pilferer

+2 wipe away
+1 piracy charm
+2 venarian glimmer
+2 the rack
+1 funeral charm
+2 psychic drain
lands:
2 frost marsh
1 urza's factory
2 dreadship reef
2 terramorphic expanse
9 swamps
8 islands

right. i think that should do. if you can add in an evac, that would help stall beats. really good removal you can't afford, but a couple of sudden deaths won't hurt. on sunday i'll post the voidstone gargoyle deck fred and i cooked up.

"Slivers have a tendency of getting the attention of bad players."
"Sliver decks (mana) screw too often to be handled."
"Sliver decks just plain suck."

HeY!!

After a few weeks' worth of deck-testing, a prerelease, a set each of Llanowar Wastes, Brushland and Birds of Paradise, I present to you a (still incomplete) Sliver deck!!!

//Creatures//

2 Dormant Sliver

4 Birds of Paradise
1 Might Sliver
4 Gemhide Sliver
4 Spinneret Sliver

4 Darkheart
Sliver
4 Mindlash Sliver

4 Necrotic Sliver
4 Sinew Sliver
1 Essence Sliver
1 Pulmonic Sliver

(32 Creatures)

2 Extirpate
2 Harmonize
2 Debtors' Knell

//Lands//
1 Gemstone Mine
1 Terramorphic Expanse
1 Island
1 Plains
2 Forest
3 Swamp

2 Arctic Flats
3 Overgrown Tomb
4 Llanowar Wastes
3 Brushland

(22 Lands)

SB:
2 Extirpate (for control, WoG, Damnation, Pyro)
2 Harmonic Sliver (for artifact/signet reliant decks !FLARE!)
2 Brain Pry (for control, to pull that elusive Cancel.)
1 Gaea's Blessing

Deck Problems:

Reactive: Necrotic Sliver's power is limited by mana, and the available Slivers. It's not really a 'Vindicate' vindicate, because it's REALLY {4}{W}{B}, rather, it makes all the other Slivers ammunition for spot-removal for {3}. In a Sliver, deck, the one-to-one removal hurts more than the simple loss of a creature.

The Darkheart can pull of some tricks with a Wrath of God. However, it doesn't solve the problem near enough. You may end up with so-and-so life gain, but that Wrath still effectively pulled your Slivers out of the board.

Still Goes Aggro: Beating down the opponent still has to occur at one point to make a win. A deck with this philosophy has to rely on its speed to do that before any white (or black) deck can pull of its life-swinging tricks. This is a kind of speed that sporadically appears in this mostly-2cc-Sliver deck. This inconsistency of speed is a result of the triad of colors. Speed can happen, though, although not reliably enough to be feasible.

By the way, speed isn't always good. For aggro players, you know this - In a case where you won't be able to aggro-win outright, it's more sensible to leave the rest of you creatures in your hand until your opponent decides he's had enough pot shots from a couple of your 2/2s in play.

We Want YOUR input!
For the most part, I'd want some SB tips that will effectively metagame my deck. (Shadow of Doubt?)
The rest I'd like input regarding the decks that will destory my deck completely - so that those problems can be addressed to.

Thanks a lot!

I agree with the stuff you've mentioned. Even classic mono-red aggro had some control elements (e.g. rishadan port). The fact of the matter is, it's unrealistic to assume that any deck can win without establishing some sort of advantage in terms of card advantage and/or board position.

Now, as to the deck... although you've got a good handle on board position, I think you could use a bit more hand control. That said, I think perhaps you could use some discard. Persecute, Castigate, etc. I see Brain Pry is in the board, so that's a start at any rate.

i don't know if i should still add to this...

your deck plays like a combo/tempo/control/aggro kill. what this means is that your deck is all over the place. The problem with decks like these is that its not dedicated enough to fight off other decks. your deck is tweaked to perform reasonably well against a lot of decks, but you don't really beat someone to the ground. what i'm trying to say is, focus on what you want to do, then do it really well.

discard decks work because it denies the opponent any spells. control stops the opponent from doing anything. aggro goes off so fast the opponent won't have time to react. combo just puts the game out of reach in one turn. all these decks work because they are really good at doing one thing, the deck is specialized to a particular win condition.

imagine you're up against this deck

3 Shrieking Grotesque
4 Ravenous Rats
4 Hypnotic Specter

4 Castigate
3 Stupor
4 Mortify
3 Sudden Death
3 Damnation
2 Extirpate
2 Soul Spike
2 The Rack
3 Phyrexian Arena
1 Nightmare Void

4 Godless Shrine
4 Caves of Koilos
4 Gemstone Mine
1 Urza's Factory
1 Ghost Quarter
4 Flagstones of Trokair
4 Swamp

This deck will rip your hand to shreds, and has enough board control to manage your creatures. note that this deck is not a hoser, this can deal with dralnu/tron, mono green aggro, solar flare, and even dragonstorm given a good sideboard.

think about it...

Although Dum has a point, there is a way around that. You could make it so your sideboard is transformative, so your deck could change versus any given matchup. Consequently, however, you might have to tone down the combo portion of the deck a bit, but well... it is an option, that's all. Very Happy

i just noticed how susceptible your deck is to an aggro land-d like karsten beats. and because of the large proportion of non basic lands, it's a viable target for the red suspend creature that destroys non-basic lands.

here's a lorwyn-standard combo:

9 Forest
5 Swamp
4 Island
1 Plains
1 Mountain
4 Terramorphic Expanse
2 Vivid Marsh
2 Vivid Meadow

3 Horde of Notions
3 Composite Golem
1 Cloudthresher
1 Verdant Force
1 Skizzik Surger
1 Timbermare
1 Faultgrinder

4 Edge of Autumn
4 Search for Tomorrow
4 Foresee
4 Diabolic Tutor
3 Hoarder's Greed
3 Grapeshot
2 Conspiracy
1 Bitter Ordeal

the deck is based around Horde of Notions + Conspiracy + Composite Golem + Bitter Ordeal or Grapeshot. the land searchers are there just to ramp up your mana to start the combo. the one-ofs are basically reanimation targets w/ the Horde.

Mi hermanos, welcome back to Dum's Binder Hell!

Pure Intentions - Future Standard

Creatures (22)

4 Purity
4 Aven Riftwatcher
4 Wall of Shards
4 Martyr of Sands
3 Jotun Grunt
3 Bottle Gnomes

Non Creature Spells (15)

3 Deathrender
4 Oblivion Stone
4 Crib Swap
3 Howling Mine
1 Claws of Gix

Land (24)

4 Terramorphic Expanse
3 Forbidding Watchtower
17 Plains

The idea is to set-up to the point that you can cheat Purity on the board through Deathrender. You fill up your hand, play defensive, and deck your opponents out. You will not win by damage with this deck. The Oblivion Stones and the Crib Swap you save for Platinum Angel. send me your opinions.

Till next time...

Hola! With Morningtide just a couple of weeks from being legal, i thought it was about time i post another deck. Actually, this is a budget take on a (once) popular deck. Elbert gave me the idea.

Turbo-F(o/a)g

Creature (4)
4 Martyr of Sands

Non-creatures (33)
4 Howling Mine
4 Rites of Flourishing
4 Pollen Lullaby
4 Holy Day
4 Dawn Charm
4 Gaea's Blessing
3 Oblivion Ring
2 Rule of Law
2 Austere Command
1 Sunscour
1 Feldon's Cane

Lands (24)
1 Dark Depths
14 Plains
5 Forests
2 Saltcrusted Steppe
2 Boreal Shelf

Ultra-gay delay deck. Just protect the last point of life, save the dawn charms for direct damage spells, then win with either marit lage or deck the opponent out. I'm a bit rusty on deckbuilding so comments will be appreciated. Thanks guys!
