~Story Hooks and Minor Quests~

Carrion Eater

Captain Meredeth Hughes reined his horse in front of the charred remains of what had been a village. "Any survivors?" he asked his lieutenant.

"None sir," the man said grimly. "I've received report from the squads hunting the bandits. They're moving southwest. Lieutenant Grimm believes that they'll be able to catch up with them in a day's time."

Captain Hughes nodded. "Good. Hopefully those scum will be hanged come tomorrow." He stopped suddenly squinting towards the distance. "I thought you said there weren't any survivors..."

"There aren't."

"Then I must be seeing a ghost," he muttered. "Wait here lieutenant."

He dismounted, walking towards a stone house. He found a young girl inside. She was holding onto the hands of a woman's corpse. She looked at Hughes with resentful eyes, tightening her grip on her mother's hand.

"Are you a ghost?" he asked.

"..."

"Well you seem solid enough," he said. He kneeled before her, prying her hands away from raw decaying flesh. "She's dead girl."

"..."

"Not a ghost then. A raven feasting on the flesh of the dead," he murmured. Captain Hughes stood up, looking her in the face. "There's nothing left for you here, girl. You've picked these bodies clean. Come with me little raven. I'll show you where there's more carrion to be had starting with those responsible for this."

He turned walking away. He didn't have to look back--she knew he was following him with those dull resentful eyes.

A Raven Never Forgets a Face

Though only a young child when her village was burned to the ground, Sam still remembers the face of the leader of the bandits. Though Captain Hughes captured some of the bandits, the leader and most of his gang still remains at large. Sam someday hopes to someday exact her revenge on the man who ruined her life.

A Conspiracy of Ravens

Though almost all her friends and family died in the bandit attack, Sam has never been able to confirm the fate of her little sister. She believes her to be alive and searches for proof of this. Thus far, her best lead comes from the young Warforged race who tells her that she looks like the girl Sevens who was one of the "heroes" who helped their god k'maht liberate them from the influences of the demon Nes'vach.

The Raven's Nest

Sam is a member of The Raven organization, doing odd jobs when the group needs a muscle, as well as reporting everything she has heard and done to her superiors.
