Reading through the PHB, I noticed:
*Jozan is mentioned as a Human cleric of Pelor
*Tordek is mentioned as a Dwarf Fighter
*Lidda is mentioned as a Halfling Rogue
The rest are gone. In some cases, it's okay (Regdar the Human Fighter, while unmentioned, is seen dead on the last chapter). In other cases, their classes haven't showed up yet. But Mialee. Boy is she gone. 
And I like it. Okay, so you do get this Eladrin Wizard named Meriele, but I hope she won't be as gawd-awful ugly.
Also, Soveliss who?
