Best moment for Colonel Badass?
After emptying a submachine/compact gun and all chambers of his revolver at a fleeing VTOL, his aide runs up to him and hands him a breath mask.

I liked it best when a missile exploded, his shoulder caught fire, and he just patted off the flames nonchalantly... after three minutes. @___@

I love all part involving the Colonel except the one where he died.
If he damaged the avatar engine first he would have killed both protagonists first.
Colonel is a very professional character. He knows his responsibility, he knows rewards, he knows a lot. He is a boss you will always want - he rewards great job.
Jake is good but an out-of-place good. For a ex-soldier his values are way off. The story shows it is ok to be a traitor/rebel as long as you can get away with it. _________________ solbergb on sorcerers:

The thing about the Col. is whenever I see him, my head keeps chanting "U-S-A! U-S-A!" _________________ And I'm still, still longing. Still cold... so cold. |

Linked this to princessa before on Fezbuk, but here's the Avatar that almost was. Interesting stuff. Definitely not movie-able because of length and wealth of detail (and really crappy lines of dialogue), but I suspect I would have greatly enjoyed it as a novel.
Also, BJ, that's my favorite scene too. >___> We watched it the night it came out and by then we were all trying to BREATHE with the Colonel (and failing so hard).
BJ Edit: Avoid using people's RL names. |

Simply impressive... I miss Lego. Do any of you guys still have them blocks?
Avatar is just great for an eye candy, even though the plot is a little linear. But since I'm more of a monster fan, I like the Tarrukh (pls don't mind the spelling) more than the colonel, hehehe. _________________ "When I thought I was alone, I found love..." |

I think mnightsilver is looking for a Lego tournament of some sort...

@Knightingale: Well, isn't this a little too late. I've been reading the link you gave and I must say, they are all intriguing changes to Avatar. It must be the reason for the story ending up blatantly like a Pocahontas-turned-Sci-Fi movie. I hope Project 880 gets turned into a novel. Very very interesting... _________________ "When I thought I was alone, I found love..." |

@mnightsilver: I believe the original Project 880 would have been insanely ambitious to shoot as a film, so I don't blame them for paring it down. That said, now that they're making it a trilogy, I can only facepalm because the cut-and-dried storyline they resorted to to make the movie work is now something that works AGAINST them. A lot of decisions would have been made differently had they been consciously working on the idea that it would be a multi-part series. :/
That said, I do look forward to a novelization. |

I will be more than happy to watch the trilogy if the next 2 parts would have more original stories. I am checking out my brain too often when I watch films these days.
I also want to see more burning blue elves. And badass military personnel. And no traitorous humans. _________________ solbergb on sorcerers:

That they would censor this... application... of the USB hair is really quite telling. _________________ And I'm still, still longing. Still cold... so cold. |
