Ok, for starters:
*you didn't have to put height, weight, and alignment (though you could keep it if you wanted to Wink )
*omit the space between init and languages
*I think you're Init should be -1 (Dex mod)
*Racial traits shouldn't be there (it should go before feats), and shouldn't be in red font
*about the +2 to any attribute ability of human, just put it on racial traits

So far, I see nothing else wrong, mostly just format errors Razz
If you're having problems about the code, see Read this first thread. You could also look at Cast of Characters thread for examples, or for some details you don't know where to put.

Corrections made! Thanks for taking time to look at it Very Happy

Is there anything else about Bonethrall that I should know about aside from what's posted in on the Bonethrall Campaign board?

I noticed some characters have brief BG/Hist on separate post, should I make one?

It isn't necessary, but it adds more flavor to the character so it's encouraged.

Good to hear, thanks for the timely response. I'll see what I can bring up for her. Would be nice if I had more data to go on with Bonethrall, especially for locations and "current events" in their timeline aside from the godslayings. I wouldn't want to go off tangent with making characters for specific settings. Sad

Thanks for the time.

It's semestral break starting the day after tomorrow for me. So I really wanted to kick up some gaming during the two weeks.

So that the DM would know what to give you on your campaign (whatever you joined), make a wishlist for your character.
It's essentially a list of magic items, listed by levels, 1 to X, where X = your level+4, that you want to receive.
You wouldn't want getting a +1 thundering bastard sword when your using a short sword. Razz

please remove this particular post, chief? I've moved the wishlist on the fist post of this thread underneath the character sheet

Sorry if it took awhile. Real busy lately...

I'm fairly certain Revan sent you a synopsis of the available organizations/places right now. The only thing I'd like to add there would be the domed city, where the Lizardbones game is taking place. Since you mentioned that you read the PBP anyway, I won't elaborate on that (Although the name itself needs work. At least it's better than Kuhnetha, it's former name Laughing).

The Bonethrall Setting, in it's current state, encourages players to build their own locations as origins of their characters. All in all, if we like the idea, we'll make it canon. Wink

So, with that in mind, will you be choosing from the avgailable information? Or will you be making up your own?

I've got plenty of material to work with, thanks to Revan and your input just made me think of adding a few small locations (which will rely heavily on existing places and factions) for my character's BG. I'll be putting it up this afternoon after I finish going about paying bills. Thank you very much for this opportunity. And, oh... is there a way to organize this thread? Like... when I'm done making Dominic's BG, can I consolidate it all on my first post in this thread ( after the charsheet, i'm thinking of putting the wishlist and the BG), then have the rest of my clutter post deleted?

Thanks for your time, people, I know you're all busy even during semestral break.

You can request either me or erwin to clean up your thread after you're done with it. Basically, that means you'll indicate to me which posts to keep, and I (or erwin) will do it when we have time.

Note that as you gain xp, you are required to post bumps to indicate what has changed, so we can update the official sheet as well.

All in all, that means the thread will consist of the character sheet, your bg, wishlist, and bumps.

By the way, is this the character you plan to use for Lizardbones?

Thanks, chief. I'll be sure to indicate which posts to wipe out, and yes, I'm aware of the bumping system regarding the progress of the characters. This is the character I will use in Lizardbones. Very Happy

Working on her BG now.

Hmm, an idea (of course, if you already have something in mind, that's okay, too); do you want Dominic to be the Captain of the Guard at Ilawith? She'll be of noble birth and all that, and while you are technically in charge of the City Guard, her immediate lieutenants do the actual work that a noblewoman would only do on occasion. Nevertheless, she's an effective commander in the few times that she feels like it.

Basically, we'll set it up as Councilwoman Keiri, the baron's niece, wanting to make sure that the party isn't secretly withholding stash from the barony.

We could even take it a step further and say that when she was younger and didn't know any better, she and Keiri were catfighting over the same nobleman. The bastard has since eloped with an eladrin, making Dominic and Keiri friends (although Dominic's hated Keiri's taste in men ever since).

What do you think?

9th day of Summertide XXX08

I, Ferram Lancaster, find this day to be quite unusual. Though I do welcome the opportunity to leave the comforts of the Domed City for a chance of adventure, becoming part of the guarding force for the Baron's Commerce Representatives... weren’t exactly what I had in mind. It's the sixth day of our journey and we've managed to safely deliver the representatives to the trading post south of Ilawith. Half our group broke off to continue escorting them towards Rockport. It would be three more weeks before I can collect on my game table winnings off Arkmann and Brent; I just wish they won't throw it all on Dwarven trinkets...

It's about time for their festival, this year. On our way back, we came across a small raiding party. It was busy harassing a trade caravan, whom from what we could tell, were bearing the marks of Reconcilers. Without missing a beat, our good Captain Crause ordered our unit to provide interdiction against the raiders while the rest of our chalk would see to the Reconciler Caravan. I got to fight, after all! Leading the charge was Daywraith, our Mandrakori Lieutenant. She was all too happy to oblige on the Captain’s orders, and I was just happy she was on our side. The battle was surprisingly short, though, and none of us had the need to dismount for the engagement. Two passes against the raiders was all it took to whittle them down, and I think I saw the Lieutenant torch the one who tried to run away. I came to like the sound that my spear makes whenever it strikes against armor. Though that did surprise me at first… raiders being well-equipped, but of course I wasn’t so stupid to not realize that they probably raided other caravans and got their hands on good battle gear. Too bad skills won over premium equipment this day.

We decided to rejoin Captain Crause’s group, and that’s when I heard the furious shrieks of a little girl. Not far ahead was the Captain’s group, spaced out evenly on a semi-circle beside one of the wrecked wagons. I was just about to wonder what the commotion was about when the Captain called me out to help. The answer came to me in the form of an angry and panic-stricken little girl with a short sword. She was haphazardly swinging at everyone, as if telling us not to draw any closer. Then I saw the bloody bodies behind her and realized that the little one was probably trying to protect them. I didn’t have the heart to tell her that they were probably dead. Anyway, Captain Crause gave me a simple job of grabbing the sword off the little girl while he distracts her. It was one for the records. Today was everyone’s earnest revelation to our good captain’s singing prowess, and for the little girl, it provided more than enough confusion for me to do my job… Or so I thought. It was clumsy at best, but it was enough. The little girl’s mournful eyes fell away from the captain and affixed their gaze on me. If it weren’t for my shield, I would be breathing through my neck right about now. But I managed to deflect her blow and snatch the sword from her hands. I tried to give her reassuring words, but all I got in return were fists of fury. It lasted for a few more seconds before the Captain carried her away.

The caravan was lost, that was our general assessment. We took the rest of the day to bury the dead and set camp for the night. We were to double-time back to Ilawith and report this incident at first light. Thank goodness the girl calmed down. I’m not sure what the captain did, but it works. Anyway, time for some shut-eye… I’ve got third watch.

20th day of the Highsun, XXX08

It’s been over a month and none of the neighboring regions have claimed ownership of the lost goods on the Reconciler Caravan. The Captain’s getting a bit concerned, especially since there isn’t a working orphanage in Ilawith. The little girl is still with us, still not talking. For the time being, she’s been under the care of Captain Crause. His friends at the Edgeworth Tavern were nice enough folks to offer a place to stay for the waif. I continue to serve under Shield Watch, but under the Captain’s orders, I do check up on the little girl for him. There’s a new bet running around the squad. It was a wager on how long before I could get the little girl to talk… if she could do more than scream or cry, that is. Most pooled their coins on later, while the Lieutenant and I both opted for sooner. I didn’t like the odds, but I did have a good motivation not to lose. I wouldn’t want to get a Mandrakori mad at me!

Anyway, today was my day-off so I decided to drop by the Edgeworth Tavern to pay our little girl a visit. As usual, she was there, helping out Mrs. Edgeworth with some of the chores. I took my usual spot under the chandelier since it provided the best light in the room for my favorite pastime. And right on the dot, Merrick walked in with a familiar folded board slung under his arm. It was GridWar time! I may be a greenhorn when it comes to live skirmish, but as a GridWar player, I can say that I’m exceptional. I even beat the Captain on a few games. Merrick and I decided to move our board game ritual in the Tavern since it’s more convenient for me, they didn’t mind. So there we were setting the board and the pieces on the table, when out of the blue the little girl walks up to us and just... watches us. Merrick and I shrug and jokingly invite her for a game. Much to our surprise, she nods and takes a seat beside me. Everyone just laughs it off and we continue to set the pieces in place.

I won for first-run on the dice roll so I declared Merrick to make his move. I always played reactively, so I prefer to see what my enemies do first. But when my turn finally came, the wager came into play. The move declaration came to us in a hushed tone, but there was no mistaking the little girl’s voice. My little victory of winning the squad’s bet and keeping Lieutenant Daywraith from cleaning my head from my shoulders was overshadowed by my confounded state concerning the little girl’s choice of spoken words. As if reading my mind, she repeated what she just said. It was in a clearer tone. All I could do was smile and move the piece she declared. I wanted to run to Captain Crause and tell him of the development, but the game got the better of me. Suffice to say, Merrick and I found a new GridWar player in Ilawith... good enough to beat us both three times over... I'll never live this down.

I'm so using this as the Lizardbones excuse to Dominic being there, chief. I'll just have to integrate it to the rest of the BG. It's getting late. I'm going to search for my stenopad in the morning. I know I put it here somewhere... I was scribbling BG notes in that darned thing yesterday.

Anyway, long story short. Whatever her old name was, she clearly isn't saying anything. Captain Crause's squad, specifically Lancaster, gives her the monicker Dominic for her game tactics in GridWars. She gets officially adopted by the captain, earning the name Dominic Crause, and grows up as part of Ilawith's Royal Guards, advancing only through her small military performances as well as the Baron's graces... She also benefits from both Keiri's academic tutors and from her "Father's" reluctant combat training. Living in a partitioned section of the barracks, Dominic tends to adopt boyish mannerisms, which poor Keiri's left to contend with whenever she gets the chance to "educate" her friend regarding feminine matters. (blah blah blah , I really have to find that steno pad) She gains the nickname Steel Heart among the Ilawith cadets, admiring this little "beauty in the rough", which is making her father's hair grayer by the second...

I'll update this at first opportunity.

I like where this story is going. I was confused at first, but now I'm fairly certain that Captain Crause and Dominic Crause are not the same person.

Might I suggest Paragraph breaks, though? For easier reading.

Oh, and this is a personal nitpick; I'll allow you to use green text for your back story, but know that I own that text color in these boards. It's my mod color. Wink

noted, chief. Colour changed to Indigo to prevent Mod Clash. I'll have to wing it and continue the intended BG story with what I can remember off the top of my head. I do plan to include your suggestion, since it's too good to pass up. All the GMs/MODs can treat Dominic's background story as free game for them to use/alter to what would work for Bonethrall. I'll leave some sections open-ended for you guys to use as ammo for future plothooks, etc.

Just had to finish Flames of Initiation module with the Game Crab group today... I still can't find that steno pad of mine Sad

--------------

This document shall bear as proof to an official declaration. On this 3rd day of The Drawing Dawn in the year XXX09, the Barony of Ilawith shall, from this day forth, acknowledge and recognize the adoption of Dominic Remilia by Eiphar Crause, Captain of the Ilawith Home Guards. As such, she shall be bound to the following conditions, as part of her new citizenship:

1) That she shall now bear the family name of Crause, and will be recognized as the first born daughter of Eiphar Crause, gaining the status associated with it. Past allegiances shall be discarded, if there are any. A stipend shall be provided to support this new family unit, independent of the Captaincy salary.

2) That she shall receive the same privileges of the Crause Family as promulgated to all low-nobility. This includes scholastic education mandatory to Ilawith nobility.

3) That she is to choose a vocation of her choice on her 14th year, to pursue and enrich for the benefit of Ilawith. Failure to do so shall force the Ilawith Barony to choose one for her.

4) That she shall have a strong obligation in service of the Baron of Ilawith, as well as his immediate family and relatives. As such, she will be called to perform duties that must be carried out as specified. This is in-line with her integration to the Crause Family.

5) That she shall also be bound to the laws that govern the Barony of Ilawith and will not be exempt of any unless declared by the Barony.

6) That she shall have the privilege of defending her new birthright and any sleight directed toward the Crause Family. Any action she shall take henceforth shall be reflected back to her family.

The seal affixed on this written document shall authenticate the declaration and a copy shall be stored within the archives of the Ilawith Barony.

The tall, middle-aged man carefully rolled up the precious parchment, careful not to destroy the seal affixed to it as he does so. Tucking the document underneath his armor's breastplate, smiling and chuckling to himself, he guides his horse to hang back and pull up beside his Mandrakori companion. "So the Higher Nobility believes I'm Father Material after all, isn't that something?"

The Mandrakori, in turn, made her horse plod in tandem with the middle-aged man's mount, all the time shaking her head, "Though I'm happy that they allowed you to keep little Dominic, Captain Crause... I still believe she needs to have a mother-figure for this family thing to completely work. This would make better sense if we were of Baalim lineage. Even I can comprehend martial upbringing among my kind, but to see this from yours Captain?"

The man shrugged in response, "All in good time, Lieutenant... I've still got a lot to look forward to, don't you know? I won't be able to settle down without having an epic battle under my belt." And then follows up with a sheepish grin, "Unless, of course, you're proposing to be her mother."

"I insinuated no such thing!" replied the shocked Mandrakori, who quickly caught herself and added, "I mean... my apologies, Captain. But I do not think I am anywhere near being qualified to become little Dominic's foster mother. I-"

"I was only kidding, Lieutenant." interrupted the middle-aged man, stiffling his laughter. "Do try to lighten up. Now, shall we continue back to the barracks? I believe the rest of the squad owes you quite a hefty sum."

At this point, the female Mandrakori responded with a low growl of pleasure, "Why, yes, Captain... I believe they do." After a few moment's pause, she adds, "Wait... what would you do if the little one's real folks come looking? I mean... It's only been a year since we fished her out from the southern path."

"You let me worry about that, Lieutenant." He returns the salute of a passing patrol as they near the barracks, "Right now, I'm more interested in seeing just what our little soldier girl can really do. Besides, if her folks come looking, wouldn't it be better if they knew we were taking good care of her?"

31st day of Kythorn, XXX019

Dear Keiri,

It's been a long time since I last heard from you. I hope they're not slaving you away on your apprenticeship. I can't really imagine myself dealing with magic, but I'm sure you'll do great. As for me, the Council thought it would be funny to send me to the Lambs Outpost here in the Wastelands for my first commissioned assignment. Papa's still treating me like a little girl, though. So I'm stuck with half his unit. Now I feel like I'm just camping with my brothers! I wish he'd just realize that I can take good care of myself... especially since everyone taught me well.

We don't really expect much trouble other than the usual creature incursions, but there have been reports of increased bandit activity outside the wastelands. The tremors have become more frequent, too. Remember how they used to keep us up at night? Well, I fou--

"They're coming!" Cried the man in black iron armor, "Red banners coming from the Hatchings! Eleven strong!" he then makes a hasty climb down from his perch, opening the gate of their small outpost. Quickly noticing another black armor emerge from the commander's tent, he stands in attention while four other soldiers form ranks beside him. "Lieutenant, there's still no word from our patrol to the canyons, we can't send anyone else out to warn the others."

"That's alright, Major Ferram." Came their leader's reply from underneath the winged helm, "I don't suppose I could seek your advice in this situation, couldn't I?"

The black armored man chuckled, "It's your show now, lass. I'm just here to give you my support in arms."

"I see." Came the sighing reply, "Just activate a flare, then. The others will know what to do. Then assemble with the rest on horseback, we will come out to greet our guests." Without missing a beat, everyone took to their gears and horses, forming an echelon just outside the outpost gate. A short wailing scream announced the flight of a blue signal flare, trailing smoke and light at break-neck speeds. One more armored horseman came out from the outpost to complete the file, raising his spear at level with his companions. Their leader took a few steps ahead and faced them, taking a good look at their unit, "Six of us to their eleven..."

"Hardly fair, don't you think so, Chief?" The last of the file commented while performing shoulder rotations.

"Merrick's right." It was Ferram's turn to speak out. Everyone could still see him grinning from under his helm. "They should've brought more men." It was chuckles all around, until a winged helm flew quickly in to smack against his face. The muffled clash of metal against metal caught everyone's attention. Ferram didn't feel a thing, but he had to readjust his helm to meet their frowning commander's sapphire eyes.

"Never underestimate your enemies, Major." With the horned helm off, their leader had to improvise her long hair into knots, else they would be at the wind's mercy. She then smiled, "But you never miss an opportunity to make everyone laugh." Turning around, she lifts her spear and points toward one direction to everyone's right. "The wastelands filled with bad terrain, but we can make it work for us. Does everyone remember the code names?" She looks back to find her five soldiers nodding and grunting in acknowledgment. The day before, when they first took their position from within wastelands outpost, they surveyed their surroundings and gave each distinguishing terrain a name for their visible cues. For example: The Hatchings was given to the ruins to the eastern horizon of the wasteland, due to it looking like a huge birds nest with broken eggs. Lucky was given to the abandoned amphitheater to their north west, with part of its section collapsed, it looked a whole lot like a horseshoe. Honorguard was given to the tumbled pillars directly north of the outpost, as it was closest and resembled a formation of crossed swords. Everyone had to remember seven other locations with specific battle formations alongside. The benefit of being a cohesive unit was that it only took them half a day to get everything right in case of attacks like today's.

"Good, now let's move past the Ovens so they won't have to come looking for us." Without breaking formation, she leads her small unit past the pillars and out in the open embossed field. The wasteland was filled with scorched terrain, but near the outpost, the Ovens had the largest coal crater where ones footing became shifty without the help of horses. "Now let's wait for them to make their move."

"Luring them where their numbers won't be an advantage, eh?" Merrick's turn to grin. "We taught little Dominic well, ey, Ferram?"

"On her first commissioned assignment, too!" Sighed Ferram, "My, how fast children grow."

"Save that for later, you two." She signaled everyone with a closed fist above her shoulder, "I wouldn't want to become the first officer in history of Ilawith to have the shortest service record."

Thanks, erwin. It's good.

I'll be done with the BG story soon. Would the fluff team let me know if I'm running into bad juju re: Bonethrall stuff, especially with Ilawith? thanks!

Spent 1 gold piece during the Lizardbones campaign.

The rest of her fragmented background story's still under editing. Sorry for the delays.

Oh? I thought that only affected the rest of the team, since this character came in AFTER their encounters?

But you were there on the skill challenge. Double-check OoC, but I think your character's mere prescence there gave you 200xp.

My apologies to the game moderators.. I will update this character sometime this week and hope to participate in other PBPs if they'll have me.

I just need to get track of the actual accomplishments this character received when her first campaign dissolved.

No worries. BT is a bit slow these days, as not much campaign has been spawned, tabletop or PBP.
