You guys gonna convert your old characters? I think I'm going to convert my the main characters using npc rules.

In 4ed, Balor is level 27 (and huge!), Pit Fiend is level 26 and the Tarrasque is level 30. Our 3.5 characters can defeat their 3x versions at the same time. Using 4ed, assuming you want to maintain this consistency, what would do you think would be the level of the party? (consists of 5 members).

The BBELQ (big bad evil lich queen). She had large armadas, armies, and everything. She wanted to be a goddess. Her specialty was a spell that would make 4ed wizard envy: Wish. And she was bigger, badder, eviller than the tarrasque, balor, and pit fiend combined (on theory at least). What would be her level? 30? Above 30?

From what I can see, you can keep certain similarities. I'd think Vlaakith could be statted out as a Githyanki Level 26 Elite Controller(or Artillery) Solo with the Lich, Death Master, and possibly the Devastator templates applied.

If you really want to be obscene, stat her out first as a Level 26 Wizard, and then give her the Elite, Solo, and Lich templates.

I'm more concerned of certain dissimilarities.

Vlaakith was more dangerous than a 3.5 balor or pit fiend or tarrasque. Now those three are on levels 26-30. At level 26, she's got "demoted".

Other concern is at forcing Vlaakith's level up so she could maintain a similar power level against those 3, she'll break the level 30 mark. Normally, since she's an npc, this is fine with me. Other thoughts?

I haven't compared yet the 3.x monsters to their 4ed counterparts to see if everyone got inflation in their levels. But one day, I will.

Fully statting Vlaakith out as a heroic wizard and then tacking on that list of templates would make her significantly more dangerous than a comparable level 26 monster, I believe. Up her to level 30+. Orcus, iirc, is statted out as a level 33 monster, but I'll have to refer to the MM to confirm that.

Vlaakith should be a 28th-level NPC wizard. Add lich template plus Death Master. Ta-da! She's a solo.

MoA Death Knights:

Plague: NPC Human Warlock13+DK template.
Famine: NPC Eladrin Fighter13+Wizard Template+DK template.
Death: I'd need a Ghost emplate first.

WAR (aka Alazlam): NPC Human (no aasimar) ftr22+Paladin template+DK template.

Vrahn: I'm okay with him being a 22nd-lvl wizard+Lich template. He doesn't defeat Pit Fiends; he bargains with them. Some sort of summoning ritual perhaps.

But really, I don't plan to revisit Pharagos. I'm Bonethrall all over.

So, how about the lesser known characters of Pharagos? Will they get converted too?

New Selentia characters
Iron Maiden characters
characters from other campaigns that happened in Pharagos

They should. In any case I won't be stopping them from playing it.

I won't be running Pharagos games myself, though. There are too many name ripoffs, and the world itself came from a Dungeon Mag. I prefer a clean slate for 4e.

I don't know why they brought it up with me. But still it should have been discussed with all the members.

Whoever tells you these things? Confused

We're not just dumping Pharagos. Sure, we're no longer using it as our world, but as I said, I won't stop anyone from running a game with it. Also, we are taking the few original concepts we've had from Pharagos (ie, Mandrakori, Kleo's flying ship, heck, I hear Lysea's in), and adopting it into Bonethrall. So it's not just "going to vanish; otherwise we would've just removed this forum.

I can now answer this better with more knowledge of 4e.

Elite's are normal+4.
Solo's are normal+9.

That means, that a Balor (Level27 Elite Brute) is the equivalent of a 31st-level character. So, anything above a 22nd level Solo will be "stronger" than our exploding demon. The solution? Make Vlaakith a 25th-level Wizard/Lich/Death Master. That makes her the equivalent of a 34th level character; stronger than a Balor.

Okay, I'm willing to give at least the Lord Regent, Vlaakith, and the Matriarch a shot. I'll write them up as threats. I'll post them here after I get around to finishing them.

The main reason for this is to give myself some 4e designing experience.

1) The Lord Regent works best as a unique creature. His encounter group would probably him and Vrahn, or him with a blue dragon ally. Adult Blues are 13 solo (22 standard), while Vrahn is 22 elite (26 standard). Combine that with the fact that the Lord Regent once took down 3 Rakshasa Nobles (19), I think he fits as a level 27 standard (~23 elite, or 18 solo).

Alternatively, we could just get an Angel of Protection+3levels, add the Ranger (for TWF goodness) and Death Knight templates, and we're good to go. But that sounds a bit too messy for such a cool concept.

2) Xtian, I do believe the Dungeon mag with Vlaakith stats are with you. Can you give me a rundown of her artifacts again (even if via PM)? I'll stick to the idea of her as a 25th level githyanki wizard+lich, but I'm going devastator over death master (she struck me more as an evoker anyway)

3) I'm definitely making the Matriarch into a 30-32 solo, but she strikes me more as a controller than an artillery. I'll edit the Blue Dragon to reflect that. Plus, think of her accompanied by "Blue Dragon minions". 30th level large minions that spew Lightning Breaths. Ouch.. Twisted Evil

PS. This isn't in my priorities list, so don't expect this to come out quickly.

Actually It just happened to be like an evoker since you were also undead during the campaign most of her prep spells at that time where death spells. Laughing Laughing Revan was not able to adjust vlaakith's spells at that time. Basically he does not want to handle spells and all.

Unlike 4E where handling an NPC's spells and abilities takes 5-10 minutes, rather than half a day. I'm glad 3.x is dead and gone, and I'm glad to not look back. Razz

Still, it might be interesting building these up.

Let's replay the whole thing in 4e. Twisted Evil but without chic, it's not the same.
