This link is devoted to any and all NPCs under the Pharagos Campaign Setting.

If you guys decide to post your creations here, please include a list of DnD supplements used to create the character, other than the 3core books, of course. n,n

I already have three NPCs to post here, complete with stats. You guys could decide to not include stats, if you think it is necessary (I'm going to eventually post Vrahn here, but I won't include the stats).

Strategies and Tactics
The Bishop of Blades is, in a word, patient. Even when surprised, he spends at least two round on casting buff spells (He also makes it a point to fight defensively during that time). If someone provokes an attack of opportunity, however, he uses an immediate action to draw Umbral Awn and Sneak Attack his opponent. The Active Shield Defense feat helps him in this regard.

Once fully buffed, he then proceeds to use his Martial maneuvers to deal damage that is usually not seen from anyone weilding a dagger. A favorite tactic would be to use Cloak of Deception-Shadow Noose, attempting but not expecting to stun his target. He is very calculating, and reserves the healing spells he has prepared for after combat, and usually heals himself before others.

When in defense of the Temple of the Beloved, the Bishop of Blades is always accompanied by at least two lower-level Ruby Knight Vindicators with the Phalanx Fighting Feat.

A special mention: The Bishop is extremely weary of Undead Adversaries. He avoids them in any way he can, and will never attempt to Rebuke anything bigger or smarter than a mindless skeleton.

Goals
Recently promoted by the emperor himself, the Bishop of Blades (formerly known as the Deacon of Daggers) is now one of the five highest ranking members of the Arcanian Jasian clergy. In charge of the whole Ruby Knight Order, his goal is to help the Eldritch knights maintain peace and order in Arcania.

On the social level, the Bishop is currently married to the Cleric of Claws, formerly known as the Priestess of Cremation (Human Sor4/Crc3/TruNecr7). He has personally seen to the demotion of his own wife, and rumors abound of the falling apart of their marriage. It is apparent that each is pulling strings to put the other to shame

(Arcanians can make Knowledge (local) check: DC18 -the Bishop of Blades and the Cleric of Claws have a child DC25 -the Bishop of Blades is not the father. DC30- the Deathtouched offspring is, unbelievably, a Targaryen, son of the Undead emperor Vrahn).

Beware, however: The two truly love each other still, and if someone thinks that he can gain the favor of one by destroying the other... Well, try... ;p

It is interesting to note that the Bishop of Blades currently wields the Umbral Awn, one of the fabled Nine Swords. In fact, he has already unlocked the least and lesser legacies of the weapon, revealing to him how the first ShadowMasters perished under the hands of Undead Creatures. That he swears loyalty to an Undead King, not to mention having a tomb-tainted stepson, seems eerily... Planned by outside forces, in his eyes.

He leaves Undead handling to the more capable Jasian Necromancers.

Advancement/Adaptation:
Those who wish to increase the CR of the Bishop are well adviced to complete the levels in Ruby Knight Vindicator, then proceed with Cleric all the way. Take the improved toughness feat ASAP, his current hp is abominably low. Although he has a Ruby Dagger, don't give him True Believer. He would rather eventually sacrifice a 6th level spell slot to use its effects.

Notes.
-The Bishop is utterly lawful. Convincing him to betray anyone in power would be... difficult.
- The Bishop has close ties to House Rotafar. In fact, rumor has it that he is having a tryst with the current Baronness, whose Psion husband hasn't been seen in a while. The rumors are utterly false, however. >=)

How could he fight defensively if he's casting spells? I check his spells he has no quickened spell prepared.

Orm of the Fourth House is not familiar with this "meta" of which you speak. He imagines such a thing is unnecessary to see to the fruition of his plans, whatever those may be. He is... strangely confident... in his abilities and in his patron deity, and dreams of the day when he shall partake of the sweet, ripe fruit of bloody, bloody vengeance...

Heh. Ever the role-player. XD

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, I haven't really developed the character of Minorrth, aside from certain basic facts:
*This Illithid is a she. She makes sure everyone she encounters is aware of that. Don't call her a dude. She won't like it.
*Remember when Emperor Gaerleth Axom died? She was one of the two Illithids who came in immediately after the murder, and declared the Arcanian Lich their new Emperor, as per the agreement struck between Gaerleth and Vrahn.
*She commands the Arcanian Inquisition, a cadre of five elite Mind Flayer specialists. Normally, such groups are temporary, but this group has lasted because they are bound (and are apparently used) by the Arcanian Throne.
*She is also in charge of the grimlock hordes of Arcania.
*She's strange for an Illithid. She rarely uses her Psionics offensively, preferring defensive powers such as force screen to augment her in melee.

Post Posted: Sat Jan 06, 2007 4:28 pm    Post subject: Associated and non-assoc class levels Reply with quote
It is worth noting that I am using MM's rules on non-assoiated and associated class levels. I am following it religiously, and it should be noticeable based on Minorrthh's CR.

(If a class is non-associated, then every two levels of the class only add +1 CR to the creature, until the levels equal it's racial hit dice. After that, every level adds +1 CR already)

The problem with this system, though, would be to figure out which classes are associated or non-associated for a given creature. So I'm going with pure hunches on this one.

For Minorrthh, this is what I did:
*She's a psionic Illithid with the powers of a 9th level psion (telepath). Therefore, psionic classes (particularly the psion) are associated, while arcane, divine, and purist warrior types are non-associated.
*prestige classes are an exception, sice by definition, if a creature qualifies for the class, then she'd benefit from the class directly. Thus, the Dervish is an associated class for the case of Minorrthh.

So there. Tell me if you have violent objections. Hehe.

Post Posted: Mon Jan 22, 2007 2:34 pm    Post subject: Vrahn Targaryen PartI Reply with quote
Emperor Vrahn Targaryen, First of his Name, Consort to the Ruby Sorceress, Youngest and most powerful Lich in all Pharagos, Slayer of Vlaakith, Monarch of Arcania.

Hailing from Royal House Targaryen, Vrahn was born just minutes after his twin sister Velenia, making him the youngest of the Royal family. Never really loved by his father Vargus (Queen Targaryen died right after giving birth to Vrahn), he was nevertheless provided with all the comforts provided by his blue blood. However, misfortune frowns upon him, for as his two older brothers displayed the ability to weild sorcerous power before they were a decade old, Vrahn's ability 16 years passed by, and the young Arcanian still didn't display any power whatsoever.

Experts within the city-state speculate that all the power could have been absorbed by the older twin (Velenia accidentally manifested an illusion of her twin when they were once in trouble at the age of eleven), and, a month before their 17th birthday, it was feared that they would have to banish the first Targaryen deadhead.

Then, a night before their 17th day, disaster struck. VargusIV, 2nd born of Arcania, was found dead in the room of the twins. His chest was cut open, and his heart was no longer there. Vrahn was nowhere to be found.

Velenia, found inside the same room, exclaimed that his twin had gone mad. Apparently, he believes that the deity Wee Jas appeared before him, sleeping with the deadhead and promising him great power...

Up next: Vrahn's mentor, and his reappearance as a wizard.

They can meta all they want because unless they can survive 300 to four hundred plus points of damage in the first turn then there is no problems with me. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Give me a Cleric of 15th-18th level and I'll survive 300-400 points of damage. I'll even beat the initiative and render him unable to cast! Ever seen a +39 on initiative? It just gets crazier when he hits epic. Very Happy

BUT!!!
Surviving 300-400 points of damage implies getting attacked so it is given that the enemy will have the first initiative.

Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil
Give me another 15th-18th level cleric and never get hit in the first place no matter the initiative.

Druid builds will also work!!!

That's what I meant. The spell is resolved, but from the POV of the Cleric, it would seem the lich just did some fancy gestures in the air. Very Happy

And yeah, I can do it with a Druid, but it's not as fancy as a Cleric. Plus, a Cleric will kill the lich faster - a lot faster (like 2 rounds if I didn't get it right the first round). Twisted Evil

Guys don't gang up on the lich. looks like you have grudges against the lich heheheh just joking. Actually I'd prefer a hunter of the dead since it was built to kill liches but we don't know what vrahn packs in his sleeves. And knowing the character he won't face the clerics whatever the build is, one on one. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Hehehe, with the build I (and maybe Xtian) have in mind, it'd be better if Vrahn just doesn't face this Cleric at all, one-on-one or one-on-army! Even better, just don't cross him at all, 'coz he can wipe out any army, any day, without even using up a 9th-lvl spell slot. Twisted EvilTwisted EvilTwisted EvilTwisted Evil

Hint: The only mortal means of breaking this Cleric is fixing him up with an exact copy of himself! Of course, deities and epic spells might tear him up, but if he were to get his epic spells right...you don't wanna know. Maybe think portable hole + bag of holding, and that's just about 1% of it. Wink

Nah, she was a beginner's build, wala talagang patutunguhan. I was building her one level at a time so she has no real build.

If I could rebuild her, though, this is how she'll be like:
Female Human Monk 2/Psychic Warrior 8/War Mind 10

Light-armored tank, never without weapons, crazy saves, and an array of psionic powers to boost her up some more. With a monk's belt, she can have some crazy high AC (Dex + Wis + Inertial Armor + Force Shield).

And it's not even one power per level, actually; a War Mind doesn't learn powers at its odd levels (except 1st). Even sadder, the level of the powers you learn go back to 1st! Meaning, pili ka na naman ng level-1 power, eh by that time, my mga 3rd-level powers ka na!

What I really like are the rage-like ability (Chain of Personal Superiority), the adjacent-square attack mode (Sweeping Strike), and the 1/day 10d6 additional damage (Chain of Overwhelming Force).
