Some new house rules:
*According to PHB, a ranger's effective level for determining animal companion capabilities is equal to half his ranger level. I'm changing it to "Ranger level-3". Hopefully that's a little better.
*When a familiar or an animal companion gets bonus HD, he gets feats and ability score increases as normal for a creature of that HD. (No size increases though, among other stuff). However, a creatures intelligence score, in particular, CANNOT be increased in this way.
Game on friday. Start 2pm sharp. Please be reminded that my house rule stands: A character who isn't updated online is NOT updated on game day.

Not that someone died. Just that, the closest thing we have to a healer is a ranger, and he doesn't get cure lights till lvl 4?

Just read the current posts over here on character creation. Note that I'm requiring a backstory, an online copy of the character, and the game is heavily into RP (It's XP gain rate is slower than what we are accustomed to). As Pitz said, it's an acquired taste.
That said, the encounters are relatively eaiser than what we are accustomed to. So your call.

QuickBrownFox, I think you got you're attack bonus wrong.
+2(BA)+3(dex, finesse)=+5 for finesseable weapons.

Game day #3 had only three players, with LordofPwnage off for academic reasons, and QuickbrownFox MIA.
So, I'm gonna ask this here:
Will you guys mind it if I require you (after two weeks) to have your own miniature figure? Either a DnD fig that closely resembles ur char, or if you have the skill/know somoene skilled, make one yourself. Just make sure that it still has teh standard DnD base (1inch square?) if your makin one yourself.
Overall, methinks it'll provide more enjoyment for teh game. But I'll concede if you think it too troublesome.

The "druid" of the village, Tinig-lain, consulted with their gods & agreed to assist the outsiders ONLY if they deal with the garbage problem from Ashmead & if the outsiders assist the village by eliminating the chief of the Tigatundo tribe. As the party returned to New Selentia, Augustus & Tor were summoned by the new praetor in charge: Senator Mortifer. Apparently while visiting the frontier town, Praetor Vespacian fell victim to an enchanted black pearl dubbed "shadowpearl" which was slowly transforming him into a wererat. The senator informed Augustus & Tor that there are 4 more shadowpearls in New Selentia & that they must not be allowed to be tampered by civilians. |
Corrections:
*Tiniglahi is the name of the high priestess of the Boulacan, noteable or being a daughter of Dimagiba.
*Senator Mortifer is no Praetor. He has, however, assumed control o New Selentia.
*Vespacian isn't transormed to a wererat. It's something... more feral.

I think I can't attend the campaign this coming friday, I have an exam from 3 to 5pm. I'll try to catch up if I finish early, but if I can't I just assume that I either make a full day's rest at the "fish-guy"'s place or making friends at the Temple of Olidammara (whichever is most likely that can happen).

Yes, you're in the wrong thread. Check out the New Selentia: Character thread. It's been a while since someone posted there, so it's kinda at the bottom of the thread heap.
And oh, do put in more info on your char.
I need to see:

*ARMOR CLASS
*SAVES
*HIT POINTS
*Attacks
*Computations to the above stats
Note that though it requires work, it'll help me as DM gauge your capabilities, and therefore set up encounters as appropriate.

BJ, what was the feat you told us about that when taken, granted us AP?
As a suggestion, how about having players conduct a certain quest, when perfectly finished granted the person/s who undertook it to gain that feat as a bonus on their next level.
Just a suggestion though...

Heroic tendencies [general]
Requirements: Character level 3rd, must be a Player Character
Benefits: You gain action points as normal for a player of your character level (check the Eberron campaign setting for details). For the purposes of feat emulation, only PHB feats may be emulated.
I'm not opening it up yet, though. I'm currently checking out CDivine's faith feats, and I might adopt those instead.

Remember: guys, there are certain duties in the NS campaign that I gave to the players to keep the game running smoothly. However, since Quick Brown Fox and Gold Saint can't join, their tasks are vacant. Any volunteers?
Current line-up of duties:
*Loremaster (boy_bakal): keeps track of the events that have taken place. Updates the Adventure Log so everyone can re-browse the events that have occured. (please update, btw)
*Truenamer (Revan): Tracks down NPC, place, organization names. Note that for all characters, forgetting the name of the guy equates to forgetting about him/her, for the moment, in game.
*Chronomancer (erwin): Tracks down initiative. Tracks down swift and immediate actions for the round, and gently reminds PC's and the DM if certain spells, powers etc., are to end this round.
*Cartographer (vacant): takes care of the combat map; tells people if they are in flanking, if spell is within range etc, should the combat mode be without a map. As an advanced function, a scout should eventually know where a place is in relation to somewhere else(direction, distance etc). Taking down notes is advisable.
As DM, I'm inclined to remind you guys that excellent work on your duties equate to bonus XP. So far, I haven't given out any.
Edit (July 10, 2007): appointed chronomancer to erwin. Scout renamed to Cartographer (still vacant)

oh, btw, a short summary of things left to do:
*Ashmeade's stink is starting to reach New Selentia. Something must be done about it.
*the portal to Faerie (Engkantadia, whatever) has been found. you can now seek an audience with Prinsipe Karuma.
*The fortune-teller told Tor that "In your greed lies the moon's cure..." Could this possibly be related to Tor's guaranteed riches in the form of his treasure map?
Also, the game on tuesday takes place roughly two weeks since Makiliti's demise.
*Dimaunahan will be declared as a public enemy of Selentia; he now leads the Tigatundu and has been using the pirates to attack Selentine ships. More info on Tuesday.
