So it seems that with the lack of local support for D&D encounters from our local gaming stores, there's no chance of experiencing it here in the Philippines.

We'll just have to sate our DS gaming needs with more homebrew games, and a slew of new pre-gens!

Dark Sun Characters for D&D Encounters

Two new themes are shown: The Noble Adept (for nobles who attended schools for the Way), and the Wasteland Nomad (for... nomads, I guess, since Wasteland pretty much describes everything outside the city-states). Also, it seems that they got rid of the Mul's Tireless ability (which was pretty useless IMO), and replaced it with the Incredible Toughness racial power. It's the 4E Ironheart Surge! XD XD

If I look into it:

Mul has+2 Str +2Con. +2 Endurance and +2 Streetwise
And it seems he has a bonus trained skill.
(It is possible that the wasteland nomad theme gave the bonus to Endurance/Streetwise, or the bonus trained skill)
has speed 5 (or 6, since he is wearing a scale armor, maybe he got the dwarven ability), vision is normal
language is Common, Dwarven (?) (it could be any, but they are "half-dwarves", so the Dwarven could be a given)

Thri kreen has +2Dex +2Wis. and it seems it has +3 to Athletics O_O
Racial features are Natural Jumper, Multiple Arms, and Torpor
has speed 7 (he's wearing heavy armor, so 6 is shown), vision is low light
Language is common, thri kreen

I wonder if theme powers scale thru tiers.
And I wonder if juaberman would allow us to get one Twisted Evil

I hope they do scale. I think they also plan to have some sort of power-swap feats for your themes, which sounds like another awesome idea. Especially since Magic Items are definitely rare in Dark Sun.

Here are some more pre-gens, this time from the Penny Arcade Podcasts (links to pdf files):

*Mul Stone Fist Monk (Gladiator Theme)
*Human Skirmishing Warlord (Templar Theme)
*Half-Giant Arena Fighter (Noble Adept Theme)

Observations:
*The themes aren't locked down to your power source. The warlord (martial) is a templar (arcane), the monk (psionic) is a gladiator (martial), and the fighter (martial) is a noble adept (psionic).
*With two Noble Adept pregens, I can safely say this: The Noble Adept theme brings with it both an encounter power and 1 extra power point.
*The theme attack powers are tied to physical (Choose Str, Con, Dex) and mental (Choose Int, Wis, Cha) abilities respectively. The Templar Warlock of Nibenay from an earlier pregen batch used charisma for her Templar's Fist, while the Warlord Templar above used intelligence (even though his str was definitely higher).

Now, since we won't get the privilege of having D&D Encounters here in the Philippines (you know which store monopoly to blame), we'll just have to make do with reposts that other people put here on the interwebs. I found two interesting ones from dungeonsmaster:

A Quick Player's Primer (similar to the "Ten Important Facts" from Eberron and FR, except there are only eight here <.<)

New Rules (Themes and the weapon-breakage thing we all already know and love)

Hmm, the boards in general seems emptier as of late. I suppose it's because of classes starting again.

Anyways, to break the boards silence for a bit, here's a short blog regarding the eladrin in Athas. As most of you know, all PHB1 races are going to be included, but eladrin have never been part of 2E Dark Sun either. So without further ado, Rich Baker's blog:

Eladrin of Athas, Future of the Kreigsmarine

hmm...genies... >.>

genie-like psionic eladrins... well, at least they're not 'the other/better (depends on people to people) elves' anymore.

cannot wait for August T_T
